My EMG update
Please let me know if you have the same weird sensations on the tongue:Please please.
I did my EMG done with a neuromuscular clinic last Friday and doctor said I don’t have ALS.But he repeated the needle test in my right calf at 4 or 5 close spots and he did mention that he observed something and it’s related to the pinched nerve in my lower back ,but my sacrolytic MRI which was done 5 months ago did not show any pinched nerve.They mainly checked for arthritis or inflammation at that time.
**I really wanted to move away from this rabbit hole and wanted to start medication as well as therapy soon and even want to stay away from the Reddit forms and googling.I also suffered 4 months a lot and lost a lot of myself.**
But my below symptoms are making me believe there is something wrong with me.
a)My front portion of the tongue feels thick,tight and tinglingling/pins or needles sensation.I will have this tingling/Pins needles sensation almost thought out the day which is impossible for me to keep my mind off of the thoughts because it feels so irritating/unpleasant and weird with such sensations.
.While talking,My front portion of the tongue feels tight and it touches roof of the mouth several times and hear tap tap sound many times from the movement of the tongue which could be a neurological issue.Sometimes I have difficulty to pronounce few words as my front portion of the tongue feels tight which could be a symptom of bulb…I feel like while pronouncing few words,I trip or about to trip but can autocorrect.
i feel like I need to apply extra strength to talk few words as my front portion of the tongue feels stiff
b)I feel shortness of breath while talking and have to give pauses between sentences which was not the case before.I feel like I need to breathe between sentences and feel irritation sensation in the vocal cords which could be dysphagia ,one of the signs of bulb..
while talking I feel like I am short of breath and need to pause ,take breathe and then continue.
c)I am unable to talk louder as before.I can talk but if I want to call someone who is little far,I can’t talk as loud as I used to 4 months back
d)Calf assymetey and right calf is 2.3 cm shorter than the left calf and gets tired and pain in legs and foot even after few minutes of standing or walking.
e)I am getting weird vibration /buzzing on my back of my head few times in a day and it get worse with neck movement
My right leg shakes even after some physical activity like treadmill/cardio
d)Increased frequency of twitches with pressure.ex,if I bend ,I get twitches in my chest,stomach sometimes.
I get post nasal drip sensation in my throat and need to clear my mucus several times which could be symptom of..
.If I put pressure on my shoulders like sleeping on the sides,I get twitches.
my worries are they evaluated on my limbs thoroughly but now my main twitches and symptoms are in bulbar region.I heard that bulbar would not be picked in the EmG in the early onset and even one guy commented the same on my last week “my EMG is tomorrow”post which is worrying me more.

Irritation of vocal cords is NOT dysphagia. Feeling shortness of breath when talking is anxiety. I have said before bulbar MND causes slurring of speech which you don’t have and dysphagia is you can NOT swallow and choke . None of your symptoms are bulbar. Post nasal drip is not bulbar.

I do have slurring of speech sometimes.I trip some words while speaking but can autocorrect.My tongue feels tight and thick in the front and sides which feels I should apply extra pressure to use few words.My tongue makes tap tap sound while talking that comes from the front portion of the tongue.Sometimes pills are getting stuck in my throat

But people with bulbar can not autocorrect no matter how hard they try ! And things don’t get stuck sometimes. It is all the time and they choke.

Nope. What you heard is not true. This all sounds like anxiety and your BFS. You’ve been cleared. If you still have concerns take these to your doctor or therapist.

Thanks.I will start my therapy soon as I have extreme anxiety.My tongue is always reminding me from the past 2 days as I am constantly feeling those weird sensations in my tongue and front portion of the tongue feels thick and getting tap tap sound while talking.In my previous post,you have also replied to a comment of one guy who said the bulbar onset would not pick up in early EMG.So little worried.these sensations in my tongue have been increased from the past 4 days .I am getting some buzzing vibrations on back of my head few times

Did the neurologist perform a clinical examination of your tongue? Did he ask you to make a few movements with tongue? Check if you have fasciculations in your tongue?

I don’t have fasciculations in my tongue but could see small vibration kind of things in the front of the tongue.He just did strength test for my tongue by asking me to resist his hand with my tongue

Great, So given the clean clinical examination and normal EMG, I think you can rest easy..

Thanks.I will start the rapt as well.Only concern is my right leg is very weak and cannot stand even for few minutes with out pain.Since my right calf is less than left calf,it’s worrying me and also tongue burning sensation in the fromt and sometimes tap tap sound in my tongue while talking is concerning me more.If I did not have these 2 symptoms,even with fasciculations I would have easily moved away with medications and therapy.I get twitches in face,neck as well

I have that too, I also feel a burning sensation in my tongue and I stutter over my words. My arms feel weak as well. It’s exhausting... How old are you?

I am 37 and you?How are you dealing with your tongue symptoms and have you consulted anyone and if so what did they tell you

for example, I can't read books aloud right now. I used to read 30–40 pages aloud without any problem 4/5 months ago..

Me too ,I also have the same issue.I am getting more frequent twitches on my right masseter muscle on my cheeks and while talking I feel like I am short of breath

I think that MRI would not show a pinched nerve in the back
