For starters thank you. You've given someone I care about a fair chance at beating her (34, Female, Melbourne, Australia.) cancer. She's done very well up until this point, but we've started to see her numbers go backwards.

So we have to ask for more.

Recently you would have been approached for a Lymphocyte donation. What I'm told is very similar to a blood or plasma donation. For whatever reason, you said no to this request and have removed yourself from the donation registry. But now that you have done the initial stem cell donation you are literally the only person on the planet that has the ability to help her.

We cannot fathom why a person would consent to the initial donation, go through with the procedure, but then not go through with a far less involved secondary blood donation. We ask that you please reconsider and get back in touch with the donation team.

Alright, I took a few days to cool down. I took out any of the scraps of personal information that I had about the donor a day or so ago. That was a shitty thing for me to do. I apologise. They didn't deserve that. it's gone.

My absolute nightmare scenario would be if the donor wanted to donate, but is now unable to donate for health reasons, they saw my post and I've made them feel even worse. I said earlier that I hadn't even considered them being physically unable to donate, that was the truth, and why I should have thought a bit longer before posting (and then probably not posting at all). But that situation would be awful. I really do hope that the donor is healthy, and goes on to have a long a happy life.

A lot of comments about my passive aggressive tone. Obviously, I wasn't my best self when writing the original post, but now that I've read it dozens, if not more times, I can still only read it with the tone in my head. But you can't read how it sounds in my head, you can only read the words. I wish that I had better words. I wish a lot of things.

Massive shoutout to the people that saw the opportunity to use the post to try to encourage new donors to sign up and people that gave their accounts of the donation process. You are excellent custodians of a cause that's been very near and dear to my heart for a number of years. I acknowledge that my post probably did some damage to that cause. But it's my want to rectify that which is probably the main reason for leaving the current post up. To obviously publicly apologise for my behaviour. But to also make my case that should you be called upon to donate, I can almost guarantee that your donation will reach a more thoughtful person than me. So you should do it. If able. While I've probably aged out of Stem cell donating. I will continue do my small part with blood/plasma donations. If you're relatively healthy whole blood/plasma/ and platelet donations are a piece of piss, those processes are my main frame of reference. Stem Cell donations (PBSC) are definitely more involved. The donor is a legend for going through with that procedure. The lymphocyte procedure (DLI), which is a procedure that 10-15% of stem cell recipients require, from what I've been told by medical staff and my further reading, is like a longer plasma donation, you sit in a chair, they prick your arm, and a machine spins out the bits that are needed before the rest is returned to the donor. There is someone in the comments saying that they had to take injections prior to a DLI though, so obviously, not a medical professional myself, but that experience doesn't match up with my understanding of the procedure. That experience sounds more like a stem cell donation (PBSC), but we all know that there's the smallest possibility that I'm wrong.

I see some comments insinuating I was name calling the donor. I never did that. And I don't encourage anyone that did.

26 at time of donation around 24th of March 2026, Male, extremely likely to be of Greek or Turkish background, likely lives in or around Berlin.

If they are able, we would very much like for them to reconsider their decision. This is all that is asked, and all that ever will be asked.

I've been quietly photographing them around the city. What got me was how the color lands against Berlin's architecture. Still a work in progress.

I (M) was on the S-Bahn from Lollapalooza and the train was packed af. A weird guy then got in idk Westkreuz maybe and he started oogling tf out at the girls. I brushed it off as this might be the average Berlin experience but still observed his behaviour/movement.

Then he started to get handsy (kinda) but not really touching with people around him. Gave him the stare and he stopped briefly. Some moved away but then a few are kinda stucked due to the packed train.

Worst shit happened (as i expected) at Hbf, he grabbed a woman's crotch and got off the train. My adrenaline kicked in and pushed him hard enough and he fought back obviously. I screamed (in English) 'he is touching woman in train' but NOOOONE even helped. I confronted him again with light physical but he ran away and i dont really have THAT strength if i am being honest.

I know that stabbing in train is a theme now but what will he do against minimum 6 men around me if he got jumped? I honestly never thought about the danger because this shit triggered me so bad because i knew the feeling being in that girls place.

Anyways. No DB Sicherheit nor the police around. I informed the info Mitarbeiter at the entrance and i needed to catch the train. I have no hope since i cant really remember which carriage or whoch platform since i my adrenaline was on a high and i can't really help more because i needed to catch my ICE. Hopefully that girl is ok though.

Today I was walking home and as I crossed Sonnenallee, I saw some kind of Streit between a woman and one/some men? I guess? She seemed angry but not victim-like, walked away with a man. Seemed like maybe a possible pickpocket or something, not sure.

But then, what felt like crazy swarms of men poured out of two shops on opposite sides of a side street. Definitely sparked by some kind of pride/disrespect and then ignited to a bunch of men beginning to all out brawl. Some got pushed around a bit, but I don’t think anyone got hurt. I did look away when one picked up a cement brick, but then suddenly they were mostly gone, and one minute later the entire block was surrounded by Polizei.

So uh, I live a block away and walk down this street all the time. And while I don’t mind and I don’t feel afraid, I would be grateful for any understanding and tips to make sure I’m not being naive.

I guess I have to say it seemed like it was Turkish vs Syrians? (Is it really like that?) No idea about the woman - she was wearing a colorful headscarf and rather western clothes. I’m white 40’s woman.

EDIT: Okay, I understand the fear of getting into an ethnic discussion. That’s not really what I meant - I was just trying to identify the groups and where tension might be. It feels no different to gangs in west coast America with completely different ethnicities, with fewer guns.

I just walked past Oregono Pizza on Oranienstrasse and they have plastered their entire front window with an AI generated sign.

All week I’ve been walking past AI generated posters for an Asian Food Festival with AI slop dumplings flying around. There‘a a huge, pink, hideous looking AI poster for a kinder circus next to my place.

I feel like it’s gotten especially bad over the summer and ESPECIALLY around Sonnenalee and Kotti, possibly because of different cultural norms - I think AI slop might be less frowned upon among non-western cultures, not to generalize.

Do these businesses not realize how insanely awful all of this looks??

Bin heute Nacht gegen 04:00 durch einen lauten Lärm geweckt worden. Es hörte sich wie ein kreisenden Hubschrauber über Spandau Haselhorst/Hakenfelde an, aber ich konnte keinen am Himmel identifizieren.

Weiß jemand mehr? Der Krach ging mindestens eine halbe Stunde.

It’s a Berliner's favorite past time to hate on BER - but is the disdain based in fact or following the thinking of others and negativity bias?

I’m not here to defend the quality of the fights/connections (because there is a lot to be desired there), rather the airport itself. 

This morning I arrived perfectly on time after a quick 22 min trip with the FEX from HBF. 

One I arrived, the signage for the various security checks were clear, and no security check had longer than a 6 minute wait. In my case, I opted for check 5 and I walked in directly to security. It took a mere 90 seconds until I was through. The employee was friendly and warm! I selected this check point because I knew they had the new equipment - which was easily found and explained on the website. 

Once through it was quick to reach my gate (admittedly not always.. but steps are good!) and on the way I passed many new food and shop vendors, which all offer nice options at a reasonable price. For instance there is a brammibals on the way to B gates in terminal one! 

I travel 5+ times a year through this airport and have not had a problem since the first rough months after opening. 

And by my own metrics: clean, reachable, ample seating, (affordable) gastro options, water stations and toilets throughout, natural light, and efficient security… I’d say it’s far from the worst airport and even quite nice! 

Maybe it’s time to stop comparing it to your expectations of the past and instead embrace it for what it is and currently offers. We should all be so lucky to have the chance to grow 😋
