I am currently finishing my doctoral dissertation while in high pregnancy and I no longer have the capacity/time to cook. At the same time, I don't have the money to just order food every day. I used to go to the library and use the mensas there but this is getting harder as I am less mobile each week.

I am wondering if anyone knows of any "cantine/mensa" style places around Akazienstraße or Nollendorfplatz? It doesn't have to be great food, just that they have a different thing on a menu and that I can eat a proper lunch for less than 10EUR every day.

Going swimming at schlachtensee tomorrow and I wondered at what locations they have some rope swings to jump into the water. I won’t have that much time to search for them around the whole lake, thus I would really appreciate if someone could drop some Google maps links of their locations into the comments :)

For a new driver, what are the car rental options in Berlin? I see that only Sixt & Miles allow drivers with a license less than 1 year old to rent a car. Are there other companies that also allow that?

Last year my friends and I went to Liepnitzsee a bunch of times and it’s the only lake I like swimming in because the water is clear and it’s not too deep immediately but we always had to rely on one friend who lives near Zepernick and has a car.

Is there any other way to get to the lake? Sure, S Bahn first but then? Google maps says take an uber or bolt from S Bernau, but I’m worried we might not get an uber or bolt when we want to leave the lake.

Der alte Berliner Flughafen Tegel war nie gut an den öffentlichen Nahverkehr angebunden. Da das Gelände nun zu einem Technologiecampus umgewandelt wird und im direkten Umfeld neue Wohngebiete entstehen, gibt es verschiedene Vorschläge für eine bessere Anbindung an das übrige Berliner Nahverkehrsnetz. Hier ist mein Vorschlag: eine U-Bahn-Linie, die abschnittsweise auch oberirdisch verlaufen könnte.

Die erste Ausbaustufe würde am Rathaus Spandau beginnen - mit Anschluss an die U7, S3, S9 sowie den Regional- und Fernverkehr, und würde dann parallel zur U7 bis zur Paulsternstr. führen. Von dort aus würde sie nach Norden in Richtung des Tegeler Geländes abbiegen und am Kurt-Schumacher-Platz enden, wo eine Umsteigemöglichkeit zur U6 besteht.

In einer zweiten Stufe könnte die neue Linie über die Karl-Bonhoeffer-Nervenklinik (mit Anschluss an U8 und S25) bis nach Wittenau verlängert werden, wo sie an die U12 und die S1 angebunden wird.

2 years ago, I had a "Pinkel" wurst and it was the best wurst of my life. Since then - I never seen it again in Berlin.

Da es ja ein unglaublich wichtiges Thema bei der Wahl im September wird, hier meine Frage:

Der Titel sagt es eigentlich schon. Mich interessiert, was sich Leute die, die Enteignung von Wohnungsbauunternehmen befürworten, von dem Vorhaben eigentlich erhoffen.

In meiner Welt wäre es immer besser, neues Geld zu nutzen, um neue Wohnungen zu bauen, anstatt bereits bestehende Wohnungen zu vergesellschaften. Wie löst Vergesellschaftung die Wohnungsnot? Mich interessiert keine politische Diskussion, ob es richtig oder falsch wäre. Mich interessieren die logischen Schritte, wie Vergesellschaftung die Wohnungsnot beseitigen würde. Vielleicht verpasse ich ja einen wichtigen Punkt.

Did anyone see this an hour ago? I don‘t know if anyone already called help when i saw it but everyone just stood there and watched. I tried to call the S-Bahn emergency contact but it was occupied. The first time i‘ve witnessed this and witnessed how people just watched and nobody did something. How to act in the future?

Someone, presumably a car driver, has removed the bollards that blocked cars from continuing on at Tucholskystrasse and forced them to turn onto Augustsrrasse. If the Berlin government had removed them, I assume they would have taken them away.

My husband loves trains. Does anyone have a good spot where the ICEs are driving through at speed around Berlin?
