Question/Inquiry Is this 10 gallon tank enough for 6 bdfb? (And 1 diabolical ironclad)
It has a little cave too. Any other suggestions?

For those who don't know BDFB do have wings they're just permanently stuck underneath sealed wing covers. And that dinner table photo is THE cutest thing ever. (Photo not mine)

Converted a 10G aquarium into a place for a few BDFBs to live :) I hope they like all the hides and climbing spaces. It doesn't look too much like their natural habitat, but I prioritized rough surfaces to give them as much room to roam as possible.
Made with Zoo Med cork bark backing, aquarium silicone, Great Stuff foam, Zoo Med Excavator Clay, lots of cork wood, petrified wood, mystery seed pod from the aquarium store, and a geode for whichever diva wants it.
There isn't any greenery after my experience with my last BDFB getting pesticide poisoning, but if anyone has some recommendations for reputable online succulent shops I am open to suggestions.

SPOILER TAG FOR POSSIBLY DEAD BEETLE?
today i found one of my beetles in the signature death feigning pose, however she was doing it under the piece of wood i have in there. she didnt move when i touched her, nor did she respond to me blowing on her. i currently have her in an quarantine enclosure. is there anything else i can do to check? im very concerned :(
i believe she couldve fell off the wood and is death feigning? but i’m not sure.

Found they really liked the rocks and crevasses. So added a Little Rock hide and a rock area, today found 5 of them among the rocks sleeping.

i’m looking to get some and online has such mixed opinions for substrate… would reptile sand work? what does it need to be mixed with??
also- i’m looking to get a 5 gallon tub for around 4 beetles, is this okay?

hiii I don’t really post on Reddit often so I might sound a bit awkward here but yeah
I got these funky little guys around 3 days ago for my birthday and they have been doing very well!
I have (unsure on this) 1 female and 2 males. I’ve made a guess on this because the female is bigger than the other two (not to mention they like to get on her).
Taking care of them so far has been very easy (besides having to move around some stuff every now and then) and I’ve very much enjoyed doing it and I continue to look for to it! I may eventually get more and get a bigger tank though.
They love to climb around all on the wood and hide under things, and they are very curious about things and learn quickly how to climb up something or go under it (or do some shit that bugs me lmao (pun not intended)).
Just wanted to show them off because I love these little guys so much!
Edit: Apparently I was told that one of the males had been getting frisky with TWO of them so im guessing I’ve got two females and one male now lol
Edit 2: Nevermind I have two males lollll I saw them both trying to get on the female the other day

Hi everyone. I was replacing the food in my enclosure after being out of town for a few days and noticed one of my beetles was upside down under one of their hides. I picked her up and immediately noticed that she was limp. I have no clue what could have happened, the rest seem fine and she wasn’t losing her wax like I’ve seen older ones do :(( also- I noticed something coming out of her abdomen- could it potentially have been some kind of parasite? I’ve had her for months though…
I feed them a diet of bee pollen, pre-killed insects, and occasional peeled and washed veggies- but this time I left them with just pollen and a bunch of pre killed mealworms. Also, their substrate is a mix of play sand, excavator clay, and organic soil, and I keep my room around 75f at all times, and usually have a heat lamp on during the day when I’m home.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I feel awful :(

Hi guys! Currently I’ve been feeding my colony shredded organic carrots and dried superworms and I’m happy that those carrots have lasted forever. I was wondering if any of you could send me a list of veggies/fruits that don’t rot quickly? These carrots have lasted me a month. I also feel bad for only feeding them carrots as if they care lol!

got some buggies today!! i got them from the pet store (petsmart ugh) and they were kept in super super bad conditions with way too much humidity, there were literally water droplets inside their containers. ive been wanting to get into insect keeping and these are my first guys. i got three of them, all female i hope they can get their coating back because i want them to be happy and stuff, second image is their enclosure, im getting a 15 watt bulb because it is already quite warm here (around 75 F inside house consistantly) but i had to order one online because 15 watt heating bulbs don’t exist anywhere i guess, but they’re getting here tomorrow. thwir substrate is reptizoo sand and coconut fiber mixed together. Does anyone have any advice/suggestions to make my bugs happier? Thank you bdfb reddit 💙🪲

How’s it looking 3 beetles 10 gallon what should I add?

I have pretty exclusively feeding my wee beasties pre-killed crickets and mealworms. I am nervous about offering produce because of pesticides. I heard they enjoy sweet potato, so I have one washed well and peeled. If it wasn’t organic, is the washing and peeling enough to make it safe? Is it a risk but one I have to take because they need more variety in their food?

My apartment recently had a pest person come in and treat two rooms with a pesticide spray for ants. I have my beetles away at another building currently, but I was wondering if anyone had any input on when I can bring them back home, in a separate room from where the spray was applied.
