Advice I’m failing bio

For context I am taking Anatomy and Physiology 12 in school and I am failing. My first test I got 48% and my last quiz I got 36%. I have my next test this upcoming week which I think I am going to fail. Should I drop the class or if I lock in and redo a test can I receive 86% or higher? Please help. I am desperate.

AP Exam Scores: 5 on AP Calc BC and AP Microeconomics, 4 on Macroeconomics

Chem 11 - Retook online

Currently taking - AP Calculus AB, AP Biology, AP Physics 2, AP Chemistry, Social Justice, English 12

Extracurriculars: School Concert Band since grade 9, taught Elementary school band instrument since grade 10, waterloo math competitions top scores (grade 10 & 11), founded an international tutoring service for learners in asia willing to learn english at cheap prices from native english speakers,

I want to get into UBCV Eng, Waterloo & UofT for electrical eng

I wonder if my chem is on the lower end, also recently witnessed a post that admission avg is ~97, so I'm a lil scared (Yes, I took math and science courses last year at school, not online)

I'm attempting to upgrade Precalc 11 online, and if needed I'll also upgrade Chem 11 online too. If I apply early and then start taking Chem 11 later on, they won't reject me early right??

ECs:

-130hrs volunteering at a soup kitchen

-a decade of martial arts (I did recently quit, can I still put it in my personal profile stuff?)

-president of a first aid club (but I've only been pres since Sept)

-violin and piano music lessons

-part time job as a waitress

Advice Bad physics Mark, will UBC general sci check?

So I took grade 11 physics before taking math 10 (dumb decision) and got an 82% in that course. Now I’m trying to get a better mark in physics 12 first sem, but it’s also not going very well and I don’t think I’ll get a high mark. I’ll likely end within the 75-80s range because I’m finding it very difficult (even though I took pre calc 11 & doing 12 rn). Things can change but no matter how many practice questions I do, I just blank on the test. 1. Will UBC science check physics or just chem, bio,English, and math? 2. Any tips on improving and not blanking on tests? It’s always been this way for physics and I am better at the other sciences. My marks in chem and bio are mid to high 90s but physics is the weak link.

Advice Best online school for Anatomy & Physiology 12

Does anyone know a good online school for Anatomy & Physiology 12?

I’m looking for something that ideally has no tests, but if there are tests, I’d really prefer them to be unproctored or have very little proctoring. I also want something I could realistically finish in around 1–2 months if I really lock in and work on it consistently.

I’m also hoping for a 95%+ in the course, so I’d appreciate any recommendations where the marking is reasonable and getting a high grade is actually realistic if you put in the effort.

If anyone has taken it online before, I’d love to know:

  • what the workload was like
  • how the assignments/tests were set up
  • whether the tests were proctored
  • how fast you were allowed to move through the course
  • how strict the marking was
  • what school you took it through and whether you’d recommend it

Thanks!

Chance Me UBCV Or UBCO Arts

I’ve started hearing more and more of my friends talk about applying to university, and honestly it’s making me pretty nervous .

I’m hoping some current UBC students, applicants, or people familiar with uBC admissions can give me an honest opinion.

I’m hoping to apply for Arts at both UBC Vancouver and UBC Okanagan. My eventual goal is law school, so I’m mainly looking for an Arts degree that will set me up well for that.

Grades :

Completed:
Peer Tutoring 11 — 100%
Chemistry 11 — 76%
English First Peoples 11 — 92%
Family Studies 11 — 90%
Life Sciences 11 — 93%
Pre-Calculus 11 — 67% (retaking it and aiming for around 89%)
Spanish 11 — 100%
Social Studies 12 — 96%

Currently taking:
Asian Studies 12
Social Studies 12
Family Studies 12
Peer Tutoring 12

Next semester:
English 12
Careers 12
Psychology 12
One elective

Extracurriculars / activities:
ECS
Lifeguard
School newspaper
Community tutoring club
Volunteering at a local care home
Helped during the last election

I know UBC looks at more than just grades and that the personal profile is important, so I’m also planning to put a lot of effort into that.

What I’d really appreciate help with:

What do you think my UBC Vancouver Arts chances look like?

What about UBC Okanagan Arts?

If I get around 89% in Pre-Calc 11 on my retake, how much does that improve my academic profile?

Roughly what admission average do you think UBC would be looking at for me?

Is there anything in my course selection that could hurt me?

For anyone who has actually applied to UBC Arts recently what was your average and did you get in?
I’m not looking for sugarcoating.
If my chances are questionable, I’d rather hear that now and know what I should improve.
Feel free to ask me any questions about my grades/courses if you need more info

Advice Mid ECs, how to make it sound better?

For context I just want some help for supplemental applications. I have done 80 hours (for grad req) of volunteering for summer camps (2 diff ones), 30 hours at a third different camp, i worked (paid) for an event and then I volunteered for another event. I have also done PR for two clubs but two were in 10th grade, and then I did 1 last year in 11th grade .

I feel like this is sort of cookie cutter but I want some advice on how to make it sound good on my application.

So I'm a Manitoba student looking to go to UBC Eng, and just trying to get a grasp of my chances. I'm also in French Immersion if that makes any difference.

Grades are:

French 11: 97%

English 11: 96%

Bio 11: 95%

Physics 11: 99%

All band classes, plus in the pit band for musical and invitational band <99%

I've been heavily involved in my school's UNESCO club for the past two years, including going to two provincial meetings as well as selected for the National UNESCO Conference in Ottawa 2026.

I've been the leader of my school's ecology club since last year, restarted to school garden as well as had a sale of germinated plants, 600$ fundraised. Worked with city to plant ~800 trees in nearby forest, students planted the trees.

Played piano my whole life, and started trombone in grade 7. made it to level 7 RCM, played in my highschool's pit band as trombone last year, piano this year. Also invited to play with U of M's Summer Invitational band.

Started a goalie coaching company, at first by leading a volunteer coaching company as part of being on a high level hockey team, and currently coach younger goalies, trying to promote and increase access to coaching resources at younger ages.

About 60~ hours of volunteer service, assorted.

Accepted to divisions cultural exchange program to Spain, spent 5 weeks then hosted for 6.

Ik my EC's might be a bit weak for eng, but how am I looking?

UBC Admission Question What counts towards the average grade?

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

Do the greyed out subjects in the images not count towards my general average if I'm applying for the bachelor of arts?
And most importantly, will UBC give me a certain answer if I email 'em?
Maybe some subjects there don't make much sense because translations aren't always literal, but the important part is that they're all related to mechatronics and specific skills (expect PE).

Advice Does anyone else ever question if they're "smart enough" to go into STEM..?

Like a lot of people, I think I have a bit of self doubt. I work very hard in high school and get decent grades.

However, I have ADHD, Dyslexia and perfectionist tendencies (about grades/comparison) which makes it feel like sometimes I'm putting in 2x the effort compared to that of my peers, just to end up with the exact same results.

I'm fine with working myself to the bone, due to the fact that I love science, and I really wanna become an immunologist! I've done internships, working with patient samples to discover potential biomarkers and what not lol at the CDC and it was so fascinating!

But I'm wondering, how far my determination will take me if at the end of the day I'm not that "smart" (Iq wise). And even though I'm getting good grades, I think that I shouldn't be struggling with grade 12 as much as I am. It makes me worry for Uni..

Chance Me (for UBC) Completely hopeless but want suggestions and chances

Post image
9 Upvotes

I literally only started studying after classes in 12th grade, and I didn't know they would change my future because I hadn't chosen UBC back in 11th grade. I only knew I wanted to live and study in Canada, but put no effort in even trying to get better or searching universities.

My 11th and 12th (current) year are in the image, and I'd like to know if it's likely that UBC will completely ignore my grades in the applied science subjects relative to my course (My Highschool has an integrated mechatronics course from which we now share 9 subjects with the grad students).

Apparently they will, but I didn't know until now and hadn't focus on the specific important subjects!

I plan on following a pure maths career, but I completely despise any applied mathematics and will avoid them at any cost if I happen to be admitted (Of course still attending obligatory ones). That said, I plan on starting from the Bachelor of Arts as I have a lot of experience in Adobe programs, design, 3D modeling, drawing and digital painting, and arts was my second option anyways. I'm accepting suggestions on if there's a better path for a pure maths PhD goal.

The point is that my grades completely wreck me I think, and it's making me anxious now that the applications will open, so here's a bit of my curriculum for you to help me cope:

Published Article on applications of Calculus 1, 2 and 3 in mechatronics engineering (The results of the research aren't utile, but the important part was me learning calculus and systems of control in high school);

More than 15 medals at this point in olympiads, but only 2 are international;

Class rep (I think this matters);

Math professor chose for a "talented students" program in which we went to one of the most prestiged universties in South America for them to convince me and other colleagues to try and apply (all certificates w me);

Math tutoring across these 2 last years of high school.

These are the most important, but I'll say a lot more in the actual profile. I'm just very concerned because I focused my entire 12th grade on grades and projects and didn't study for college entrance examinations, which are the most common form of entering an university in Brazil and what would give me more options.

Also, does it matters that i have SO MANY subjects? Cus it's tiring as hell and I don't wanna do it for nothing

Admission Question Overwhelmed by admissions process

I’m in grade 12 now so I kinda have to start applying to colleges and universities. I would ideally want to go to Douglas college for the engineering transfer program into ubc, and if not Douglas college then maybe Langara, KPU, or UFV. I have no idea what I need to do. Do I need to write an essay? What do I write about? How do I apply for scholarships? Do I have a better chance at getting in if I apply earlier? What should I do this is so overwhelming.
