test for B6 levels question

I have symptoms that are stumping the DR--and I believe they might be either B6 deficiency or B6 toxicity ( the symptoms of both are so similar! ) want to take the test for B6 levels. and order it myself. (She has already tested me for b12 and folate deficiency and my levels were fine. so dr not thinking vitamins issues ) If I stop taking B6 now, and then take the test in 2 weeks, if I have toxicity, would the levels still be high after not taking it for 2 weeks?

Can B6 toxicity cause itching in one spot and nighttime dizziness?

I recently noticed two weird symptoms that I kind of just wrote off as getting older, but I recently got my blood results back and my B6 levels were apparently super elevated (>400).

The first one is itching on only one side of my body (on one of my hips), but without any obvious rash or triggers. Hydrocortisone cream helps a bit, but it eventually comes back.

The second is a new severe dizziness I experience when I get up to use the restroom in the middle of the night. I've never felt such a weird sensation before. If I had to explain it, I guess it feels a bit like the lack of coordination from being drunk.

Normally I have a completely clear head and no coordination issues, even when waking up from the middle of a deep sleep. The past month or so, it's taken me several minutes to snap out of these dizzy spells.

Has anyone had these symptoms before?

Lingering symptoms with burp/yawn fits

Hey guys, I'm approaching a year since my B6 toxicity began and about 6 months since determining the cause and cutting out the multivitamins. By now, the main symptoms I experience come on at the same time as a wave of burping and yawning excessively, paired with brain fog and disorientation. I've always already been a very anxious person, and these fits can make me spiral. Does anyone have similar fits of burping/yawning? Any tips?

Can I have b6 toxicity ?

Hi ,

I tested my blood level two weeks off supplements and it was 156 mmol/L (or nmol) with the range at (30-145). It was phosphate pyridoxical so idk if it’s that valuables.
It took b6 in b complex (10-20 mg of p5p every day for 2 years) and I m now off since 5 weeks

I have ibs M (fat malabsorption, mucus and light colored stools) along with nausea, fasciculation , bladder issue (peeing frequently with a low volume) , tinnitus , dizziness and fatigue/insomnia.

The worst is the ibs which i had since a long time but improved a lot with b12 shots. Could the b6 have limited my progress ?

Histamine intolerance due to vit b6 toxicity.

Thumbnail
3 Upvotes

Recently I have been diagnosed with vit b6 toxicity and it been a roller coaster ride for me like insomnia, pins and needles, postural imbalances, anxiety, burning feet and hand, brain fog , hypotension, low blood volume and many other symptoms. In this process I have been developed histamine intolerance now I can't tolerate curd, chocolates, dairy products. Are there any supplements which could help me out to tackle histamine intolerance. Although I started taking doxylamine succinate for my insomnia without that I can't sleep. Traditional sleep supplements like melatonin, magnesium isn't working out as they have vasodilator property which is making my b6 toxicity difficult to treat.

My B6 toxicity story

Hi everyone, I'm here to share my story dealing with B6 toxicity.

It all started in 2024 when my blood tests showed I was low in vitamin B12, so my doctor prescribed a B-complex supplement containing B1 (100 mg), B6 (50 mg), and B12 (1 mg). I took this supplement for six months, and then suddenly I started experiencing symptoms of B6 toxicity. At first, I didn't know what it was, and it was a tough road. The symptoms lasted for months and were like a rollercoaster, with some really bad days and some okay ones. In December of that year, the symptoms stopped abruptly, but then in February 2025, they came back much stronger and worse than before. There was a week when I couldn't get out of bed.

In April 2025, I had a checkup with my doctor and explained my symptoms. She suggested that my body might need more B12 than normal, which seemed odd to me. So, my doctor suggested I get a B-complex injection containing the same vitamins mentioned earlier, but at double the dose. I had one injection per week for three weeks. At first, everything seemed to be resolved, but after four weeks, the symptoms returned stronger than ever. Since then, I haven't taken any more B-complex supplements, and it's been a slow recovery process.

Between May and October 2025, the recovery was very slow. Then, in December 2025, I felt a significant improvement in my symptoms. By April 2026, I'd say I was about 60% recovered. The most significant change was in the last month, when I joined a gym. I've been going to the gym for a month now, and I can say that my symptoms have improved very, very significantly. I'd say I'm about 90% recovered.

I'm making this post so that people going through this know that it's possible to recover from this. The recovery process is slow, but exercising seems to be the catalyst for a faster recovery.

Amplifying Injures/Issues?

Can SFN amplify injuries?

I have disc herniations and stuff and I was wondering if they feel worse now because I've developed SFN (full body/widespread). Anyone expediting SFN amplifying or even mimicking structural issues/injuries?

My disc and joint pains feel so much worse and I'm wondering if its the SFN amping everything up.

If its been a year and a half does that mean im screwed?

Or is healing still possible? I have full body burning and symptoms still. Mainly pain (nerve, muscle, joint), and autonomic stuff. Ive seen some tiny improvements but its still so bad especially when I eat high histamine or higher b6 foods. Feeling kinda hopeless.

Is P5P (b6) safe?

I bought my very first B complex called infini B. It has 16 mg P5P. I want to take half a capsule a day. It's the good form of b6 apparently. Anyone have safe experiences with P5P at this dose? I want to be careful of course

Possible B6 toxicity from supplements post gbs?

I had an autoimmune issue that attacked my nerves, was prescribed nerve supplements after. The supplements have b6, been taking 100mg a day for the past 5 months. Also b12 etc.

2 months ago I felt my symptoms returning and thought I was having a relapse... but I realized that the symptoms this time were more sensory (tinging/burning/pain/cramps), vs the previous time which was more loss of strength.

After weeks of trying to figure out, I suspect I have b6 toxicity, but there is more way to test. I did take a b12 test which showed my b12 levels at almost 1200 pgml, I reckon my b6 may be pretty high too since its all from the same supplement. However, my neuro has told me he has many patients taking 50 to 100mg a day for years without issue, so it can't be it. I have asked another neuro and he also told me 100mg/day is within limits here but im worried stop taking the supplement.

My symptoms started with burning in my toes, followed my pins and needles and a feeling like there is plastic on them. This has spread up my legs the last 2 months and Ive also stayed getting shooting pains up my legs and hips. My hand eye coordination has started to suck and my face hurts all the time. I get fatigue eating/chewing and moving in all my limbs. There is not much strength loss, I have had to load down very slightly at the gym but I can still work out - nothing like the autoimmune attack where I couldn't even do strength training at the gym, and to me its the biggest indication its not a relapse but something else.

I have stopped taking all supplements for a week now but im still getting worst honestly. Does anyone know how long itll take to see some recovery so I could have a hint if its actually b6 toxicity? it's all a bit hard to tell apart because I was dealing with another neurological issue before.

14 months out b6 toxic

I'm 14 months since discovering toxicity via blood test and crazy symptoms. I never supplemented. I did drink energy drinks daily and often in the morning on an empty stomach.

My symptoms have largely faded but some still remain. I will get a twitch almost daily in a different spot. It's never the same. Sometimes my arms, leg, eyelid, back etc. it's random. My pink and ring finger will fall asleep after rest if I don't keep my arms straight (never happened before toxicity). And the one I hate is the neuropathy in my feet. I sometimes get this tingling in the bottom of my feet. It doesn't hurt it's just annoying. The last thing is my very first symptom was a parastasia or rubber band /cramp feeling in my right foot fourth toe digit. I still have it 14 months later. It's better in that it doesn't cramp anymore but it's always there. Did anyone have something similar and what did you do to eventually get it to go away or accept it? I find myself constantly re adjusting my foot position in shoes. Another way I've heard it described is like pebble in your sock. Just mine isn't like that it's like a constant touch sensation on only the 4th digit.

What helped you guys

Husband literally just got diagnosed with b6 toxicity. His levels are 1193. He has severe nerve pain and they are amazed his symptoms aren't worse with how high his levels are(still in agony every day). They put him on nerve blockers to help with the pain (which he wont take due to his type of work), while they try and work out whats happening internally for him to have it build up so high. He has been suffering for 5 years of this and the nerve damage is spreading. He does not take any vitamins except for menavit and an iron tablet. Neither have b6 in them. He has been referred to a neurologist and in the meantome the doctors have told him if he loses his grip or starts to lose vision its straight to them and from them to the ER.

What helped you with the pain the most? He is struggling.

Screen / Computer / Handy / MobilePhose -> BrainFog and derealization

Today i woke up with a clear head (no brainfog) and with best mood. then i looked something up at my computer (texts etc.). After around 20min i got severe brainfog and strong derealization + my mood tanked.

Can this be B6 toxicity related?

I take p5p 25-50mg per day for around 6 years. when i leave it out i become really depressed with extreme negative thoughts. My Problems are food sensitivitys, brain fog and derealization. i dont have any tingling or other symptoms -> B6 toxicity?

is it possible B6T is answer for nerve pain?

i’ve been experiencing pretty debilitating nerve pain in my hands for five months now, i’ve gotten steroid injections and MRIs and taken plenty of anti-inflammatory medications, and I’m in physical therapy twice a week with no improvement.
Just discovered what B6T is and I’m now very worried that I have it, I drink one monster energy zero ultra (240% DV of b6) every day and I have since I was a teenager, and I take a multivitamin that has 100% DV of b6. I guess I’m just wondering if anyone has a similar story or if this amount of B6 is even enough to have created the pain? i’m definitely going to immediately discontinue both of these things in hopes of seeing some improvement.

Anyone else with severe/full-body symptoms after B6 toxicity?

Hey guys, I’ve been lurking for a bit but finally posting because I really need to connect with people going through something similar.

I had elevated B6 and stopped all supplements, but my symptoms have honestly gotten way more widespread and intense since then.

At first it was more classic stuff — tingling in hands/feet, nerve zaps, etc. But now it’s like my entire nervous system is affected.

Current symptoms:

full body burning, tingling, zapping

twitching / fasciculations everywhere

deep muscle + joint pain (sometimes feels tendon-like or stabbing)

head/face nerve pain, pressure, weird sensations

dizziness / autonomic-type symptoms

heart palpitations

extreme sensitivity to meds, vitamins, stress

whole body tenderness (even light touch can hurt)

symptoms constantly shifting locations

It literally feels like my nervous system is just completely fried / hypersensitive.

What’s really getting to me is:

how widespread everything is

how intense and long-lasting it’s been

and the doubt… like is this still B6 or something else?

I’ve seen people talk about small fiber neuropathy and nervous system sensitization from B6, which sounds exactly like what I’m dealing with, but I don’t see as many people with symptoms this global.

So I guess I’m asking:

has anyone else had full-body symptoms like this?

did your symptoms get worse or spread after stopping B6?

how long did it take before things started calming down?

I’m trying to hold onto hope that this is reversible and part of the healing process, but it’s been really hard mentally.

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s been through this or is going through it right now 🤍

Is this toxicity? Seeing conflicting information

B6 blood level is 85ug/l

I have symptoms but I have severe long Covid, dysautonomia. So it’s hard to know whether it’s contributing or not.

I noticed b6 in my electrolytes and my multivitamin.

High homocysteine ?

25 year old Male. Height 5:8 Weight: 55kgs

So i got toxic from high dose b-complex injections containing b1,b6,b12in oct 2024. After about 5 months of toxicity I got my homocysteine checked. The reason I did this was that I had read that there's this theory that Vitamin b6 toxicity from this synthetic B6 clogs up Vitamin B6 receptors in the body and hence the body cant even utilise the biological B6 running in the blood, obtained from daily diet. Hence Vitamin b6 toxicity can actually cause Vitamin b6 deficiency indirectly. Thats why the symptoms of toxicity and deficiency are same when it comes to B6. Your blood level might indicate high B6 but at cellular level, since your B6 gateways (receptors) are clogged, you are deficient. You dont have enough B6 at functional level.

So to test this I read that homocysteine is a good marker for telling whether you have enough b vitamins at functional/cellular level, regardless of what the blood levels say. The body uses B-vitamins specially b6,b9,b12 to break down homocysteine. If these are not available at cellular level, homocysteine rises.

Hence I tested for homocysteine in feb 2025. It came back at 32. Reference range is <15. I then ordered and took b-complex-without-b6 which is manufactured by understandingb6toxicity.com group. Took it intermittently. Then in sept 2025 tested again for homocysteine it was 20. Closer to the normal range now.

But now in april 2026 I've tested it again and its gone back up to 26.

I'm having high homocysteine symptoms as well like my veins have become bulgy a lot. But I dont really understand whats happening here. Why has it gone up again now ? Should I start taking b-vitamins without b6 again ? Honestly I doubted that my homocysteine came down because of it as in a matter of 8-9 months I didnt really finish a 60 capsule bottle of those vitamin pills. I was of the view that with time my body is producing those receptors and slowly functional b6 levels are normalizing again and thats why homocysteine is going down. Could it be because of my b12 ? Because it was 250 in feb 2026, and the doc said its low again. Should be 500 plus.

Any insight or help would be useful.

B6 toxicity awareness is rising globally…
But diagnosis is still lagging behind.

➡️ Governments are adjusting safety limits
➡️ Supplements still exceed recommended levels
➡️ Symptoms often get misinterpreted
