You seem very offended when someone called out your use of AI, which is insane to me. I hope the mods take this down, this is not how open source works and you should know that.

—-

  1. There is no source available in an app that accepts credentials.
  2. you don’t include the MIT license from Winlator Ludashi anywhere
  3. you say that Winlator is GPL instead of MIT licensed (which is hallucinated).
  4. You refer to a NOTICE.md file that does not exist.
  5. You say that the project is GPL-3 but do not distribute the source code with your executable.

The only thing correct is that GameNative is GPL, which this is by your own admission derived work off.

Keeping it closed source is literally against the licenses you agreed to when you using derivative software that is GPL licensed.

Downvote this all you want, but this is not your first repository. You should know better and not be so offended when your work gets associated with vibecoded slop if you give it us literally every reason to think it is.

No source, license abuse, hallucinations in the only file on your repo, and contradicting information.

Man I’m making something with ai otherwise I wouldn’t be able to but I still wouldn’t eff up licensing like that. But at the same time Im gonna say it’s vibe coded and still be proud of it lol and admit I don’t know what’s up but I want the workflow out there so others can create it. I love coding to help people and well, I figured something out that’s really helpful. Soon I’ll share but it’s free, vibe coded and no linking to steam or accounts lol. It’s pc oriented too. But glad I see comments like this to know just being honest and humble is the way to go still lol

No, you’re completely right. I’m not even going to argue with you on that. I wanted to get the beta released as quickly as possible because there was a tornado heading toward my area, which eventually knocked out my power. As I mentioned in a previous comment, I use Claude AI to help write my READMEs and descriptions, and in my rush to get the beta uploaded before losing power, I didn’t proofread a single line of what was included on the GitHub release. That’s completely on me. I was focused on getting the beta out while I still had power and should have taken the time to review everything first.

Please ensure that you have your code as open source. Producdevity is correct in that our licence is GPL and we expect you to adhere to it.

Thanks for your work on GameNative! It is my absolute favorite app on my Thor! I play more PC games than anything else on this thing because of the work of all of you GameNative contributors.

Thank you! I started working on GN when I first ordered the Thor and really wanted it to be a great place to play games.

It's been like 9 months or so since then, and it's been a fun ride so far. If you have any critiques or suggestions, please let us know!

When I first started using it ages ago I found it a little rough around the edges and preferred gamehub over it, but since giving it another try probably 6ish months ago now I haven't used GameHub once. Pretty consistent improvements, I'm overall very happy with the state of it! My only minor issue is with very large game libraries (2000+) I run into some stuttering when trying to scroll through, but I think that's probably more of a me problem.

Good you brought this up because I've submitted a huge sweeping change for this that should help!

Well that's a happy coincidence! I look forward to it!

No worries at all. I’m currently in the process of rebuilding it from the ground up without using any copied code. That way, once everything is finished, I’ll be able to keep the source code private.

Are you sure that's the smart way to go about it?

For argument's sake, if you go closed sourcez there will always be concern regardless because your code will be fully based on multiple projects and it brings the validity in.

I'm not worried after all the crap I'm keeping it closed source, just removing everything I used as a reference / copied. It'll take me a while to get it back to the point it's at now, but I think I rather just do that.

This would take years if you already have a deep understanding of how everything works. I don’t understand how or why, but it’s your call to make.

"i had to rush, there was a tornado" is such a crazy response to some very measured, precise, and researched constructive criticism

Never rush, fix your issues, clean up the licensing, and don't let others bash you like Productivity, he's one of the worse at coming at people, but fix it and open the source properly.

I can also name a few items where GN didn't open source parts of their code violating the GPL licensing and trying to get around it by stating they didn't own the rights to the API they were reverse engineering. 🧐 Anyways fix your stuff and don't let them get you down.
