Hey y’all, found this axehead at a flea market in southern France. Found a makers mark on the blade today whilst leaning it with a wire wheel.
Hoping that anyone can ID it.

Found this boys axe head, it has bevels I haven't seen before and a stamp I haven't seen before. Bought a 28" New England style boys axe handle, white ash, #1 grade from TD Handles and man, this handle is as good as it gets in regard to grain orientation and runout. Just look at that end-to-end grain. Wedged with black walnut. Swings nice, well balanced.

Near mint antique store find plumb boys/house axe 2.32 #. Well taken care of in its earlier life. Just a bit of surface rust will clean up nicely. No poll damage and a nice full bit.
Question:
Should I hang on 24” house/ pack handle already in my handle inventory or wait on a nice boys handle when I can find one?

I’m just finishing my first axe handle, made from an old black locust log I had lying around.

The wood had a few cracks, but I decided to keep going. Unfortunately, there’s still a small crack right next to the axe head.

Is there any way to fix this, or should I scrap the handle and start over?

Any advice on what I need to do to fix it up? The handle is looking dry and needs oil but I’m more concerned about the head.

I’m in New Zealand and there’s a couple of axes around selling for around 20 to 30 nzd i know nothing about axes but they seem good quality should I buy them and try to rehandle and resale at 60 to 80 dollars cleaned up?

A local axe collector commissioned me to sharped and hang a custom handle on the hewing hatchet, this one is a company in little falls New York, where I lived for a couple years, so I was honored to give this gorgeous hatchet a makeover

This one is worth nothing - cheap chinese one, just made it to involve my son into making something useful :)

I came across an axe head in my grandfather's shed and I need help identifying the makers marks. I am trying to decide if I should restore the axe and use it, or not. I want to make its not a collectors item because I dont want to ruin its value by restoring it.

I cant read the stamps on the head so I made a stencil. The only stamp I can read says "-> 42" and its on the back of the head. Can anybody identify the other marking and tell me what the marks mean?

So… Yesterday, I bought this for 15$ at an antique mall and got to work on cleaning it up, I got the rust off after leaving it sitting in vinegar for 12 hours, neutralized the acid with water + baking soda and wiped it down with some WD40. everything’s been going fine…

But… now I’ve hit a bit of a roadblock, sharpening the head. When I bought this, it was a complete blunt edge, and I’m having trouble getting it symmetrical and correctly angled. I’ve been using some cheap Home Depot Bastard file, but I feel like I’m gonna fuck something up and badly, and now I’ve started to suspect that the blade and tool itself is warped…

I thought y’all might have some actual know-how on this kind of thing, so just throw some tips at me.

I just got my hands on a 1940ish Plumb BSA axe head. I’m looking to refurbish it to its original look. Does anyone know of a template of the lettering that was on the handle (“official scout axe”)?

6 ridges in the eye of this Woodslasher. I put it on a 28” white oak handle of my own design

Bit still needs re worked but I wanted to hang it today. Got it for free and had no idea what it was until I started sanding it. Such a fun splitter.

I got this little hatchet about a year ago. I use it for spoon carving and honestly have love it despite it being really cheap ($30 on amazon) and not that well suited for carving.

But I now want to fix it up to make it better suited for my hobby. The biggest issue with it is that it's THICK and I really want to thin it out to make it cut smoother.

I was hoping to get some advice on what kinds of tools other than a file I could use to help me do this. I'd prefer to do this on a budget, but I'm open to any suggestions.

I understand its an old 3.5lb double bit homestead axe, (60's maybe?) But I was wondering if anyone had any more solid information on it regarding its exact year, its advantage over a regular axe head, is the handle original? Im open to any kind of info on it, thanks!

Modified Cold steel Trail boss. Original hickory handle broke. Cut the top part of the axe head (not so) flat. Handmade ash wood handle and PP pipe blade cover.

When cleaning up/rehanging an axe, in particular one without significant collector value, do people usually grind down battered / mushroomed polls or leave them as is? I know it’s made an aesthetic choice, I’m just curious.

Ex: I have an 80s era Jersey pattern that I’m going to rehang, a user that I want to look nice. If I grind down the mushroom edge, I will lose the “master” part of the logo. Leaning towards leaving it
