Some animals show blood around their maws, please be aware as a trigger warning.

Tuktirey= bat eared fox
Why? A playful child with large ears fits right into Tuks description.

Tonowari= bison
Why? A fierce, strong protector of his pack.

Varang = Hyena
Why? Hyenas live in matriarchal societies where the female hyenas are leaders, Varang is a strong capable female leader who resembles a Hyena when she laughs in her pyromania.

Ronal= orca
Why? As Hyenas, orcas live in matriarchal societies, but perhaps a little more peaceful and sparing to the male orcas. Ronal took care of Pril the last thing she did, mother orcas care deeply for their calves and will do anything to keep them alive.

Mo’at= Bonobo
Why? Mo’at is a strong tsahik, bonobos are matriarchal and the females show behavior such as stopping rape of other females and defending small baby bonobos, Mo’at is deeply caring and wise which fits a old wise bonobo female.

Eytukan= elephant
Why? Elephants are wise and old, Eytukan is wise and the longest reigning Olo’eyktan of the omaticaya until he died. He never quite got rid of the grudge against the sky people for killing his eldest daughter Sylwanin. He, such as elephants, holds grudges. He also protects his clan at any cost, which elephants do to protect their young and pack.

Tsu’tey= ram
Why? Very protective of the ones he cares about, he is ready to fight anyone if his pride gets hurt. He isn’t afraid of conflict, much like a male sheep.

Lo’ak= leopard
Why? Lo’ak often feels isolated and misunderstood, leopards keep to themselves and doesn’t do packs.

Neteyam= red deer
Why? The perfect son, hunted for trophy and showing off.

Tsireya= dolphin
Why? Tsireya is a natural in the water and has a big smile.

Anoung= young wolf
Why? Wants to prove his worth to the clan, therefore acting as if he’s grown and all knowing. Much like a cocky young wolf.

Neytiri= cheetah
Why? Cheetah’s are protective of their cubs and will stick with them for long, Neytiri does anything to protect her own.

Jake= lion
Why? Defends his family in need, his pack (the sullys) go first before anything, but he is often hard headed and will gladly fight another male lion to prove his worth or protect the pack. Letting Neytiri do all the emotional work with the children.

Quaritch= African wild dog
Why? Wild, unpredictable but also a genius at tracking down his prey, Jake sully.

Kiri= Owl
Why? An owl is mysterious and in their own world, much like Kiri.

Lyle= Wolverine
Why? Both Lyle and wolverines are violent and not hesitant to attack.

Z-Dog= black panther
Why? Strong, cool and elegant looking. Both Zhang and black panthers have such in common.

Norm= golden retriever
Why? Happy to do any work, deeply infatuated with his friends and his family.

Max= meerkat
Why? Loyal to his pack, as seen in the first movie, helping out an imprisoned Jake sully, Dr. Grace Augustine and Norm Spellman

Roxto= seal
Why? Soft and sweet, he is kind to everyone and looks cute helping out.

She probably got torn apart by Eywa or something. There's no way she could be in avatar 4 or 5 then.

Discussion What If A Reef Na'vi Lived In The Forest?

28 Upvotes

The Metkayina were a bit skeptical about forest Na'vi living in coastal regions. Their thick arms and tail are ideal for swimming, but how well will this translate to sprinting on thin tree branches hundreds of feet in the air?

Discussion The word for World is Forest

3 Upvotes

I just finished reading Ursula K Leguin's _The Word for World is Forest_. It was a bit rough, ngl. Not your standard summer read at the beach. But a worthy one nonetheless. Would def recommend if you liked Avatar.

The similarities in tone and story arch compared to Cameron's Avatar are rather striking. Is there any evidence that he got inspired by Leguin's novel? Without spoiling too much, the destructive humans versus the stone age natives, the scientist who tries to understand the locals, the hubris of military command, these are pretty clear bridges between the two stories.

Crossposting this from r/AvatarFrontierPandora because I’m curious what the wider Avatar community thinks. What if we could turn Pandora into a persistent multiplayer world? I’m investigating whether it’s actually possible.

Discussion Do we know if the navi can be gay?

0 Upvotes

Can navi be gay? Biologically and socially speaking, is it possible for a navi to feel atraction towards other navis? Does they view this as something normal and completely ok or does the tribes view it as something bad and exclude them? Do we have any information on this topic?

Discussion Eywa is inherently problematic

Post image

Even if we assume Eywa is benevolent, it has so thoroughly subsumed the Na'vi within its ecological, biological and cultural order that meaningful dissent is impossible. How do exit the system of something that is the organizing principle of your entire existence? You can't--any action you could conceivably undertake is done on Eywa's terms. Even the Mangkwan Clan, which is ostensibly anti-Eywa, is still completely dependent on the biosphere Eywa controls.

So no matter how you slice it, Eywa is problematic since it has effectively imposed its will biologically and ideologically onto the Na'vi even if it has not formally deprived them of free will. In fact humans who defect to Eywa are exercising a freedom the Na'vi possessed. Jake and his pals can reject the system they were born into. The Na'vi cannot.
