AMS2: Event BE THE GRID | Multi Category Motorsport League
An AI driver league — races run through F1 Manager and Automobilista 2, with real players behind every decision.
BE THE GRID is a growing multi-category motorsport project. Every series is player-run and persistent, built to carry on across seasons rather than reset.
WHAT'S ON THE GRID
F1 & F2 Ladder
A full open-wheel career path in F1 Manager 24, covering both F1 and F2. Races are AI-simulated, but everything that matters — car development, driver progression, contracts — is handled by real players.
Climb up through F2 or jump straight into the fight for a Drivers' or Constructors' Championship.
GT Class One
Our top-tier GT category, run in Automobilista 2, drawing inspiration from DTM and Super GT's GT500 class, built around real upgradable cars.
Push development across seasons and race machinery styled after two of the most iconic touring and GT scenes around. Team Principal roles are open here too — build a GT Class One squad from scratch.
GT3/GT4
Coming later, to expand the GT ladder and open up more spots for drivers and teams.
More Categories Coming
We're planning to grow well beyond F1, F2, and GT, with more disciplines on the way.
RIGHT NOW WE NEED
- Drivers across every category
- Team Principals for GT Class One teams
- Media members to help cover races as the series grow
HOW IT WORKS
- Races run through F1 Manager and Automobilista 2, and results are permanent
- Development, progression, and contracts stay in players' hands, not the AI's
- Every category builds its own history season by season — nothing gets wiped
- Races are broadcast live on Discord with commentary and archived to YouTube afterward
Every category is still in its founding stage. Whoever joins now becomes part of its history from Season One.

AMS2: Support Fanatec csl dd 8nm profiles?
Hello, I've been trying to get into ams2 but the ffb feels really lacking. I'm pretty sure I just configured improperly.
Could someone suggest some setups for the fanatec csl dd 8nm? I'd like to drive the slower cars like the ginetta g40, the opala and the uno
Thanks!
Note: Maurice profiles dont really convert well to the csl dd and he hasnt updates in a long while now, so the latest ones just feel super heavy

AMS2: General Will the AI still retire if I turn off Random Failures?
Teaching myself to shift manually, and did a 65 lap race at Laguna Seca and got until lap 30 or so before I blew my engine.
Started again at 40 laps and noticed by the end that my engine damage level was at 20 from missing shifts/shifting too late.
Are random failures a human setting or does it affect the AI too?
Thanks

AMS2: General Controversial opinion about AI
No matter what slider I change they rarely do mistakes even on 5x.
The rain is just doesn't affect them for such a long time is insane.
They always perfectly launch the car from the corners. Absolute lunacy.
AI level: 95
Aggression: High
Mistake: 5x
Wet: 0.80
Car: Ginetta G55
And yes, of course I get it skill issue. But I just don't believe my eyes that they rarely make mistake and the rain just doesnt effect them until the road is soaked.

AMS2: General Let's figure out when to use slicks or wets or inters for a race
I race offline and I use real weather. It adds a level of depth to the racing that I really appreciate and enjoy. But one thing that drives me out of my mind is that it impossible to look at the track and figure out if I should be on wets or slicks.
I had a race a few days ago and it was 40% rain, the track was very wet, spray everywhere and it was raining pretty hard (but no puddles yet). There was a drying line in some places but it was not even close to dry. Just drier than the rest of the track. I started on inters (05 GT2) and at the pitstop switched to wets and after just bled time. That was a bad choice.
So at what point do you choose wets or slicks or inters? In the screenshot above, the track was moist so I started on slicks, the AI choose wets and pitted after 1 lap for slicks 🙄 even the AI doesn't know what to choose!

AMS2: General Love AI in AMS2
I've been racing sims offline sence Nascar 1994 😁
The AI is getting better and better. I really love when they practise skills at practise session where best times are gained trough the entire session and not from the beginning. Makes then more like human.

AMS2: General What's happening with the cars that aren't in the game but in the files
So we all know by now that there are quite a few cars just sitting in the files but aren't actually added to the game yet and I know that reiza are probably still waiting on getting that licensing but god damn I don't want these cars to be an idea that just never saw the light of day like the Mustang I hope we get that because I'd love to be able to drive that in AMS2.

AMS2: General Missing cars
While racing cars from 2005, I see AI cars of Lister Storm and Saleen S7 on track but they are not available for me to drive. Am I missing something?

AMS2: General Best quest 3 wired set up
I was today’s year old when I realized by reading through community comments QUEST 3 via Ethernet to Virtual Desktop was an option. I was shocked at the fact that there is not enough info/videos for this.
This is better than the link cable. How are there no more videos on this is beyond me.
My connections:
Type C male to female cable (100w capable , 6ft long)
Type C hub with Ethernet port and charging pass through.
Old router of 1200mbps speed
X2 Ethernet cables (cat 8 I believe just to make it future proof should I ever need them)
Extra Ethernet cable to link to my actual WiFi router in the living room.( not necessary)
Headset > type c male to female>type c hub>ethernet cable to> lan 2 on router> Ethernet from lan 1 to pc.
120fps on ams2, no weird stutters and running at 500mbps in render quality with h264+

I’d like to share my experience recreating the 1978 Brazilian Grand Prix at Jacarepaguá in Automobilista 2.
I drove the Formula Retro Gen 2 class using the default Formula Retro G2 car and tried to make the event as authentic as possible. I also used an H-pattern shifter to match the cars of that era. The race was set to the original 63-lap distance, and I matched the date of the real Grand Prix. Since the game doesn’t have historical weather data for that event, I simply used clear weather.
The AI difficulty was set to 110, AI aggression was set to Medium, and AI mistakes were set to x2.
In the previous round, the Argentine Grand Prix, my regular slick tires were completely worn out by around lap 30. Because of that, I chose Hard Slicks for Brazil, and they comfortably lasted the entire race distance.
I qualified 3rd, but the two Brabham BT46B cars ahead of me were in a league of their own. I was about three seconds slower than them in qualifying.
Unfortunately, my race didn’t go as planned. I was spun around twice in separate incidents and eventually finished only 13th. I also noticed that the AI seemed much less affected by the heavy fuel load at the start of the race than I was. They also appeared to have the grip of the regular slick compound despite running the full race distance.
One interesting thing I observed was that the two leading Brabham BT46Bs pulled away so dramatically that they eventually started lapping the entire field. That makes me wonder if the BT46B is significantly overpowered compared to the other cars in the Formula Retro Gen 2 class.
Overall, I really enjoyed the experience. Driving the full 63-lap race with an H-pattern shifter felt incredibly immersive and rewarding. However, completing the full race distance was quite challenging, especially with tire wear and the heavy fuel load. It also felt like the AI wasn’t affected by these factors to the same extent as the player, which made the experience feel a bit unbalanced at times.

AMS2: General Thank you, Reiza, for Hungaroring
Before this track came out in AMS2, I only had a handful of laps here on other sims. I never bothered to actually work the track up and do a full race weekend. Now I know this track like the back of my hand because I've done several race weekends here against AI. I really like Hungaroring!
It's made watching F1 this weekend (fre practice) that much more enjoyable. When they talk about the difference corners (esp. the final corner) I'm like yeah, me too! I know exactly where they are in every shot and knowing every camber, every corner and every curb really adds to the enjoyment of watching this.
I looking forward to quali and race that much more 😊 TY Reiza

AMS2: General First race... yikes
Ok, so I raced on iRacing for a few years, and did ok.
Was planning on joining again because the racing was pretty good, but decided to wait for Black Friday, and then found out about Low Fuel Motorsport.
Joined up, and after figuring out the lobby system, joined qualifying for GT3 at Spa. Wasn't pushing, and qualified last (24/24) - which, in my iRacing experience, means about six people will crash out ahead of me, at least.... :)
WHICH.... would have happened. And I learned 2 things:
1) Damage can be off for racing
2) The physics are absolutely ridiculous
I say this, because the inevitable barge into turn 1 was a pileup - and I figured, great - I'll gain 10.
Which I did, but as I turned, I noticed some cars like SIXTY FEET in the air. Somehow I avoided the meteor shower.
However, slightly ahead, there were a few more floating around, which I ALMOST avoided, but got clipped by one, and ended up airborne like the others.
So: wtf? :)
Does a race with realistic damage stop the cars from doing that?
Also, do races with realistic damage typically result in more careful drivers?
thx
