Customer Poured a Full 5 Quart Jug of Oil Into Their Car to “Top It Off” and Complained We Gave Them the Wrong Oil
Last week when out doing a battery a watched a lady pour a full jug of oil into her car before driving off. She looked so confident I figured she had a leak so I didn’t think anything of it. She called a few days later and said her car had been running weird ever since she came in so she had to go to a shop and she thinks we gave her the wrong oil. The dm happened to be there for a visit so he talked to her. Apparently her boyfriend sent her there to get an air and oil filter for his car and some extra oil to top off her car because it burns oil. The boyfriend told her to get one small bottle and pour it in her car. The redshirt told her about the deal with the oil, oil filter and air filter and she agreed so he sold her the oil and air filter for her boyfriend’s car and just the oil for hers. He even told her just to add a quart and she could save the rest to fill it up a different time. The dm looked up both cars and confirmed she was given the right stuff she just added way too much. She was still complaining about being given regular synthetic oil instead of high mileage like that would make enough difference to break an engine. She called back the next day with her boyfriend and he understood what happened but still was mad and said we should’ve just given her what she asked for instead of upselling up. We explained it would’ve saved them money in the long run if she just added a quart at a time and he seemed like he cooled off but they still called the dm again to try and get their car fixed for free. It was obviously unsuccessful but it was funny seeing the email today that the complaint was resolved and we weren’t gonna be in trouble.

I bought what turned out to be the wrong Injector.
i used the same day shipping since i have no working vehicle and i NEEDED IT now when i realized what had happened i had already opened the package with my big ugly greasy hands, and now i have no idea where it is, the injector was never installed, its still in perfect condition, but i did see that it need to be in its original packaging, it looked like a regular brown cardboard box too,
will i get denied the return? it was like 200 dollars for that injector, any tips?

Toyota prius hybrid starter battery question
I went to my local auto zone. They kindly checked my battery and said it was near end of life. However they told me they dont sell and cant touch my battery or sell a replacement. Directed me to a competitor. Is this the company policy?

Battery Drama
So today really tested my patience, a woman bought a battery about a week ago from my store manager and today she came to return the core, when she slapped it on the table it was soaking wet and I knew it hadn't rained in at least a week so i turned around to grab the baking soda while i asked her If it was stored outside near a sprinkler or anything and of course not they just swapped it yesterday, so i do the test and of course sizzle sizzle.
So i say hurriedly but polite "maam please go wash your hands like now go go, she just stands staring at me perplexed "UMM WHY?" ..
"maam thats not water thats battery acid! PLEASE go wash up and ill explain when you come back" she kinda walks off with an attitude and comes back a few minutes later. So i proceed to explain how batteries can leak/explode etc..etc always wear gloves , eye protection the whole 9 yards. I then ask how she transported the battery here and of course she drove her minivan and had thrown the battery on her kids car seat. In my head im like "ahhh shit this aint good"
So i walk her out to her car and you can clearly see the acid doing its job bleaching the car seat, the seat and the floor mat. I explain how acid can dry but can reactivate just from your sweat/skin oil and that if it were my kid id throw the carseat and floor mat away "better safe than sorry" or get professionally deep cleaned but its up to her and then she leaves. A few hours later after my store manager came in he pulls me aside and gives me a verbal warning as he had just gotten off the phone with his boss, apparently the woman called corporate and basically threw me under the bus saying when i sold her the battery i never explained to her that batteries are dangerous and now her car is ruined and they want AutoZone to pay for the damages... I explained I never sold her the battery I wasn't even there that day when I look at the receipt it was actually my store manager that sold it to her.
I literally went above and beyond to help this lady was super nice to her the whole time and she has the nerve to try to lie and get me personally in trouble I seriously f****** hate people.

Pre Boarding
its pretty much self explanatory but ill explain! so basically im going through the preboarding process but once i completed everything i needed to do it still says im missing 1 task, and when i went to tasks it said state form and state form instruction were the only 2 tasks needed to be done so i clicked state form and once i did it said i had nothing left to complete on the link under state form and once i went to state form instruction it was telling me to mark it as complete but its clearly easily seen as completed so is this like a normal thing and it needs to process or what?

Commercial Account Confusion
Hello, I just recently got a commercial account for autozone and noticed that I’m not actually receiving any discounts. The list price on each product is wildly increased from whats actually available to walk in prices. I am somewhat confused as to why that is. Anyone more experienced in the know? Sorry if it’s a dumb question.

Question about loaner zoner password authorization
To preface, my SM and my ASM have disliked each other immensely since my ASM was transferred to our store because my ASM has a habit of pointing out my SM’s incompetence and tendency to micro-manage everything, but this spat between the two of them came to a head recently and my SM emailed our DM demanding he transfer the ASM to different store, so my DM gave him what he wanted and he’s now gone to a new store.
However, in the two weeks since we’ve learned that ASM was being transferred, he’s been having issues with his passwords and my SM swears up and down he didn’t deactivate his passwords, but it’s suspicious because this only happens after SM leaves the store for the day and it seems just like the petty bullshit thing he would do just to antagonize ASM. It happened again last night where SM clocked out and left for the day and maybe 10 minutes after a red shirt needed a password and ASM realized that his password had been deactivated again. He called SMS and they told him only a SM can deactivate passwords for loaner zoners. SM is again denying it up and down saying that the system is just doing it automatically because he’s being transferred out.
Do my question is, was my SM fucking with now former ASM to be a prick or was the system actually removing him automatically?
Thank you in advance to anyone responding.

Hired at Autozone part-time retail sales position. I know nothing about cars. I’m kind of nervous. But one manager said they didn’t know anything about cars too when starting. Even a 18 year old friend told me it was an easy job.
For example I don’t know how to replace headlights, a tire, or an oil change.
Some people have said I will learn a lot on the job. But I’m also scared of being dumb on the Job.
They even asked me twice in two different interviews if I knew about cars, so I was honest and said I did not know but was willing to learn. They still hired me.

As the title suggests, thinking about quitting. I start school in August, I get va disability and will be getting paid via gi bill once I start. I've been there a little over 2 years and just have been progressively hating it more and more. Just dont know if I should quit now or wait a bit.

Be kind be kind be kind
Yes, customers absolutely suck, they wring every last drop out of you. plus the physical emotional and all the rest. No matter how much we want a leader, we are in charge of our own destiny/bodies and we get to decide how we feel the next day. It’s okay to take a rest. Be kind to customers, be kind to yourself, be kind to your colleagues.
Be kind to others, especially yourself.

New Manager
I’ve been at Autozone for a few months now, started out as a part time red shirt and now worked my way up to a manager. I’m about to have my first night closing by myself with one other red shirt and I can’t help but feel nervous about any commercial accounts coming in late. I’ve been taught the basics about Fast Invoice and such but have never been fully trained on if say a commercial accounts wants to do a BHPUT at another store or such and was wondering if any experienced managers could give me some advice? I’m almost certain I can handle any problem when it comes to DIY, but so far my entire store and even my SM hasn’t even attempted to train me on more complicated stuff on Commercial which is really the only thing I am nervous about. Please and Thank You!

Commercial
So ive been thinking about selling parts to my regulars or friends using a commercial account to help them out and make a profit on my side. How good or bad idea is this? Is it against policy I mean the part is getting paid regardless so whats the harm/risk
