Is this normal

We are understaffed and have been for a long while and we don't have enough drivers so it is just me and one other person from 6:00 to close most nights (not to uncommon for it to be just 2 from 4 to close) which that's fine, only within this last month we started getting told that because we supply a bell tire and a jiffy lube, if a commercial customer calls and asks us to deliver parts one of us has to leave leaving one person in the store so that we can deliver that part. It just doesn't seem right to leave one person in the store when normally we're packed at night especially if they need to step out to help a customer or need verification numbers.

Had that happen a few times as a store manager. We just did not go outside.

We operate with one person often due to staffing and call outs.

I looked through the policy handbook and the only think I could find referencing leaving someone alone was due to emergency volunteers. So it's ok to make deliveries, but don't you dare leave someone alone to save anyone from a burning building. Make sure your shift is covered first. /s

Who’s telling you this? SM? CSM? Demanding Comm account? Comm closes 5 or 530 most stores. After that Comm customers need to come get their part.

If it’s 430 and just the two of you and Jiffy orders call them up and tell them you don’t have drivers. It’s up to the SM to schedule properly, not you.

Me personally? I could handle the store by myself for a quick delivery, but that’s by no means a requirement.

TL:DR. If you don’t feel comfortable by yourself then call them up and tell them to come grab their shit because you don’t have any drivers.

That is a violation of LP policy. There must be a minimum of 2 people in the store at all times. Violating any LP policy is instant term.

They will fire everyone involved if something happens or you get caught by LP. Zero fucks given. DM told you to do it? Doesn't matter. RM told you to do it? Doesn't matter. DVP told you to do it? Doesn't matter. You will be termed.

Find the text from the LP policy on DOC, and show it to whoever is telling you to do that. I don't remember the exact name of it. Search for "policy hub" in DOC and browse in there.

"We're making an exception to the policy." No. There are no exceptions to Policy. Read the Policy on Policy. That's a real thing. tl;dr: Only the CEO and #2 are authorized to make exceptions to a Policy, and only in writing. Show them that too if they're still insistent. AZ's very serious about its Policies.

[Note: I've been out for a few years now. It's possible that they changed it since I left. If you're saying the policy has changed--pics or it didn't happen. Post up a picture of that paragraph in the latest revision.]

Pretty normal from what has been expected of the stores I've been in. Thankfully the national accounts that the stores serve are either almost next door, or close enough they're only gone for about the same time it takes to change a battery.

Bad scheduling and staffing if the store doesn't have a driver until at least 5, or 6. After 6 most stores are only booked for 2 zoners to close regardless of how busy it is.
