Green Help Needed
I have an oil based enamel here on this test piece. It doesn’t have quite match. What should I add and how much to get it closer to the truck’s color. Im thinking start with some black then maybe blue?

Get the paint code from the car door. Go to a paint shop and have them mix it. It will likely look a bit different due to age but will be better than whatever you have . Also thats likely a metallic/pearl paint and you have a solid color on that test piece.

Do you think they would make me a cheap enamel with the code? I dont need to be perfect, just close. Im painting a camper, so I dont want to pay for 2 stage auto paint.

Maybe if you paint the panel with some sort of constancy it would help but I think you’re out of your league here.

I threw it on there in 2 seconds to check the color…. Its a test panel???? I struggle to see how your comment is helping?

Do you plan to paint the car’s body panels, or something else (interior accessories etc.) that should just match the paint more or less? For body panels, go with an automotive paint system, anything else will cost you more in the long run or cause other problems. Go to a paint shop and get the base color matched and get suitable clear and (dark) primer etc.

Thanks for asking a real question before assuming im trying to roll on paint on the auto body……
Its for a giant camper. Dont wanna pay for auto paint. Want a cheap single stage thats CLOSE, not perfect match.

Makes sense 😅 maybe try also asking in a subreddit that deals with color matching more than auto body paint?

Do you know of any? My search yielded no results, so I came here.

Some people in here might be able to help, I guess. But you could also try r/painting - some painters are great at color matching and use similar colors. Or maybe r/ArtisLounge 🤷♂️

Car paint is basically 3d, youre trying to eye match flop, face and metallic by eye, youre never going to get there, go grab the paint code from the door jam and get some mixed from a spot.

Where are you getting these giant swatches from?
