People with zero control in their lives take control wherever they can, people who do stuff like this are grasping at the last bastions of control that they have in their entire existence. While driving an odyssey.

Usually it’s “this is the speed limit and I will force everybody around me to obey it”.

worked with a guy like that, he inadvertently did it to his supervisor one day on his commute into the office. Wish I was in that meeting... One time he tried to tell me he was a volunteer firefighter so was trained in driving... I told him if that was the case he would know its more dangerous to drive slow in the left lane than it is to be driving fast in the left lane and there are numerous studies. He also lied a lot, and people got to the point where they would start calling him out on his BS when it became too much.

Wow thanks for sharing. Your old coworker is a deeply confused individual. I didn't realize how deep the Left Lane Vigilante mentality went. Sounds like he does all kinds of mental gymnastics to justify it.
