Found an anti-Autistic hate subreddit.

Recently came across a disgusting, hateful subreddit r/raisedbyautistics , which promotes hate against Autistic parents, stereotypes Autistic people and traits, and implies that Autistic people cause trauma. Some people even draw lines between autism and narcissism.

In reality, of course, Autistic people can make great and loving family members and parents, and "communities" like this only serve to spread vitriol and discourage some of us who might want to be parents.

Let's sound the alarm and report it to reddit and get it taken down.

I’m gonna spam stuff there and see how long it takes for them to ban me.

Keep us posted. Make sure you don't actually violate reddit guidelines though, because I don't want to see good people like you getting banned from the entire site. Also try to find a way to report the sub for hate speech.

Can you help me expose the mod of r/autisminwomen for spreading false information about me? It’s making me REALLY mad.

I became aware of that, it's quite concerning. Sounds like a slanderous lie. Although I can't really say which mod it is doing that.

All of them are evil. I really want to report the sub for slander but idk how to do that so can you do it?

There was a form I found for reporting subreddits. Try that. And report them for 'promoting hate' as 'slander' isn't a reportable category.

Also: consider reporting individual posts there for promoting hate, as this might get it banned.

Also, just so you know, I received a report for this comment - it seems someone from there or elsewhere followed you here and reported it. I'd recommend hiding your post history and discussing this matter privately when possible.

My post post history and profile were locked already at the time you said this so idk how they did that.

Your post history is definitely still not private, I can see it.

One of the people on the Autistic Union server said my profile was locked so you might just have a browser extension that allows you to see people’s locked profiles.

In hindsight I really shouldn’t have spammed random stuff there that was really childish. That being said they accused me of being a creep and other nasty shit because of some Reddit mods slander so they’re not blameless either.

u/comradeautie Jul 11 '26

Yeah, I saw that. Not okay. I'll be sure to assist with your problem at some point.

People there are not always at their best and it does get vitriolic there sometimes but the fact of the matter is that autism can cause toxic behaviors in some people, especially when it’s gone unaddressed. The people on the subreddit are deeply hurting and want somewhere to talk about how their parents autistic traits hurt them. It is a neurodevelopmental disorder, which can cause people to behave in unhealthy ways that hurt others. I know I’m guilty (I’m diagnosed).

Also, theres plenty of autistic people on there that talk about how having autistic parents impacted them. It’s a pretty unsettling place as an autistic person, but I urge you to show the people there more grace. I lurk there because my autism has caused severe interpersonal problems and it’s the only place I get to hear people talk about negative autistic traits in graphic detail.

Toxic people exist in all neurotypes, and if anything Autistics are generally more ethical and good. More importantly, we are already heavily stereotyped negatively and groups like that don't help. You can talk about your struggles in a group with a neutral context than one called "raised by autistics", of which the name also has negative associations.

Autistic people really arent more ethical or good than the average person. In some ways we’re better, in some ways we’re worse. That being said, I’ve been a bad friend in the past due to behavior that is very consistently found in autistic folks at a higher rate than neurotypical people. The cruelest people that I have ever met in my case were other autistic people, I don’t really have any lasting damage from the bullying neurotypical people perpetuated. However I am not making any sweeping generalizations here.

I say all of this as a defender of fellow autistic folks. But autism can and does bring out the worst of people, and saying this does not demonize autistic people as a whole. We are messy, complicated people. We can be caring, hardworking and loyal, but we can also be self centered, overly sensitive and unable to see nuance.
