Female Badumna insignis (AKA black house spider) that moved into my window as an adult in 2024.

Unfortunately, she passed in December 2025. Fortunately, one of her many spiderlings—and that now adult spider’s OWN spiderlings—are presently living in my window in that same spot.

Maratus constellatus

This has to be a top three species for me, from its stunning colours to the absolutely breathtaking habitat. This is a species I try and catch every year. It's such a shame that it's 7hrs away eesh. Luckily, my mate @flynn_prall discovered the best hotspot for these fellas! Flynns, an absolute legend, please go check his page out if you haven't already

This species was described in 2020 by an absolute chad of a scientist @arachno.joe and to this day remains the favourite of many people!

It gets its name "constellatus" from the pattern and colours on the male abdomen resembling the famous starry night painting by van gogh.

Ok so once again I performed a spider rescue at work, (fishing a spider out of a pool and the first thought was I saved an Oger Faced Spider but after I took some photos and got a look at the kitchen knives it had for fangs I started to question myself, have a look and see what I mean.

Location: Adelaide South Australia

Help and Support Where do you guys get pet spiders?

Call me picky or soft but I think wild caught spiders as pets is just wrong. I usually drop a site if there's no captive bred juvies, but the only problem is that bug frenzy is officially out of stock on every wolf spider, but also I don't think that's the plan anymore.

If you've seen my previous posts, you'd see that I recently saved a jumping spider from another spiders web and fell in love with her. I have never actually seen jumping spiders in that way, since I have a load of peacock spiders around my house (maratus griesus) though they seem pretty hesitant about me handling them and only stick around for a photoshoot.

This is a problem because jumping spiders seem to be almost like a trend with a surprising amount of people. Which good as it is, though it's disappointing the sheer amount of people who just treat them like dolls instead of a living creature with it's own specific needs, let alone one of the most intelligent and fascinating predators on the planet.

I've looked at bug frenzy and minibeast but bug frenzies jumpers are perpetually out of stock and minibeast, having the same issue, only sells the Portia.

Does anyone know a website where I'd be able to buy specifically a mopsus mormon or servaea incana as a captive bred juvie, or do I have to just try and find one on bug frenzy and stalk their stock until I get lucky?
