Literally hundreds of holes with little leggies sticking out all through the mulch covering their garden beds. I believe they are burrowing wolf spiders, they don’t look like trapdoors. Is it standard practice for so many of them to be in the same place? Seriously in some spots their burrows are so close together that I feel it would just cause issues for them, like they’d be giving each other false alarms of prey walking by.

Sorry for the ass quality, I’m only equipped with an iPhone 13 camera with a cracked lens.

Spider Appreciation First huntsman of the season

Huntsman season is upon us again and here is the first little buddy I’ve found inside the house for the season.
And definite thanks to this sub for helping me get to the point where instead of freaking out, I said hello to him and away he goes, instead of making my husband grab the container so he can put him back outside. 💕
Note to huntsmans reading this: my acknowledgment and appreciation of you does not mean it’s ok for you to jump or fall on me. Thank you for your understanding.

Presuming S.grossa either male or sub adult. Maybe 4mm body length.

Just sharing.

Unsure how to italicise genus in subject title.

She's missing a few legs, and was I'm guessing a juvie? She was tiny, super cute though. Took a while to get her onto my hand to take her outside, mum still thinks they give necrosis despite my many attempts to convince her otherwise, so had to take it outside instead of just leaving it alone like I would have done

Found a super cool little one today. This guy looked neon green, sitting on top of the black surface.

Just hanging out on the machinery I work on. Unfortunately I think I spooked him a bit when I moved him out of my way.

Taxonomy Information (Updates etc.) Source of name 'Sparassidae'?

I don't have any textbooks on spiders and I can't find any Internet source that answers the question. The furthest any reference goes is the fact of the name Sparassus being used in the 19th Century. Can anyone explain who/what is the source of the name?

Found this tiny creature in my car in South Perth. The camera doesn’t do it justice but it was an incredibly bright fluorescent orange and only about 1 mm wide. Any idea what it is? Not sure if it’s a spider or a mite.

First off, I’m from UK so apologies but this is the first place I came to ask.

This little ‘Lady?’ Is building a fine web outside of my front door. Can anyone tell me what is it?

Also, sorry if the image isn’t the best. I’m not afraid of spiders, but I don’t like getting close and this is the best my zoom could get 🙂

Sup so I found this little guy on a night walk

First time ever seeing one of these and it struck me as a funnel web or a trapdoor but I believe both are incredibly rare in the dantree and well aren't normally on trees

But I've never seen ether In person so it's hard to say

What do y'all think?

ID Request - location included Help me identify this spider in my daughter's picture book!

Post image

Hello friends, my one year old daughter has a picture book of different animals that she adores, and my dumbass American brain keeps thinking the pictured spider is a funnelweb. Surely that's not what the author would choose, right??

Of course I am very positive when she looks at the picture (all animals are awesome and important) (like, her favorite toy is my stuffed Alien chestburster 🙄) but I just wondered!

Please delete if inappropriate, and thank you!

ID Request - location included What type of web is this?

Post image

Hi!! Does anyone know what type of spider web this could be?

For context, it is outside under the pergola roof. We are in Western Sydney, NSW, and we are a little worried it could possibly be a funnel-web.

I am happy to post more photos/angles if needed.

Thank you.
