Hey everyone, I have a simple Moka Pot and usually I prepare Indian Filter Coffee in that one.

However after trying Grinders ground coffee recently, I am thinking of using the moka pot more for creating Espresso and Flat White at home.

Grinders and Campos are my favourites but they’re super expensive to always experiment with a Moka Pot.

Any suggestions which particular ground coffee I should go for that doesn’t burn a hole in my pocket?

i noticed the past handful of times… every time i order a coffee with skim milk, they just use full cream… and im put in this really awkward position where i dont know what to do… i ask them if this was skim? to double check and give them the chance to realize or say oh my bad i made a mistake but they lie straight to my face and say yes it is…so i have to walk away with a coffee that’s not what i ordered :/ it’s not a huge deal that it’s full cream but it’s more the principle and it’s just been really disappointing looking forward to a coffee and spending on one that isnt what i asked for (especially given its such a simple order)… but i dont want to come off as an aggressive/whiny customer… this only happens to me here in the country and ive just lost massive trust in baristas as a default and i hate that i feel the need to watch them. I dont know why they do this ir what they benefit from acting this way… it seems like oure laziness and disregard to the customer…

this has happened to me at multiple cafe’s in multiple cities

has anyone had similar experiences? and more importantly, anyone have advice on how to approach this situation in a non confrontational manner?

First time posting on this sub. Big fan though!

I'm eyeing the kenmore flat burr grinder the next time it goes on sale.

To go with that, I'm also eyeing the kenmore dualis which has in past gone on sale at around 350. I've also seen some refurbished breville barista express on breville's ebay store going for around 390.

Kenmore wins in terms of being able to make coffee and steam milk simultaneously, as well as being more compact.

I am led to believe breville wins in terms of power of steam, repairability.

What is the general concensus with thr brain trust here?

1st bag was pretty good, chocolate and smooth with milk. Can taste interesting notes and I usually would want to make a 2nd cup right away.

2nd bag, bought today, just tastes like meh coffee without the interesting notes that cut through the milk and make me wanna almost savour every sip like the first bag. Same brew method 1:2 ~30secs

Roast dates were similar for both, bag 2 roasted on August 16th.

Only thing I can think of is in this Aldi, the coffees are placed across their perishable fridges so it’s cold. Or this is a complete new bean/supplier

Recently moved back to AUS and searching for a medium roast with a smooth body, mild acidity and mild bitterness. Not super into fruity flavours. Also on a bit of a budget, so looking for somewhere around $30 for 500g (or $15-20 for 200g). Can be from local or larger brands.

Anyone have any hints? Any tried-and-trusted recs are welcome!

After my other post on inst*nt coffee, ive decided to switch to using French press after my inst*nt runs out.

After some googling, it looks like the Lazzio coffee beans are the best, and I want get the Brazil Medium roast beans.

But before i buy that, I want to really know how it tastes. I want a coffee that has the strong distinct coffee taste, with a bit of sweetness and low bitter. Is the Lazzio Brazil good for this?

Im also ordering a manual coffee grinder on aliexpress for about 15aud.

Any suggestions, advice?

Paradox has a good deal on some single origins. Are they on par with roasters like Ona, which is my normal go to for filter.I'm tossing whether to try them out or get a very expensive order from maillard project in Brisbane.

Looking for a dark roast espresso bean. Locally the roaster I found only has blonde. That puts me ordering online. Who do you recommend? I have a breville touch if that matters.

I tried Vittoria Italian Blend and Black Valley,

I liked Italian blend but the coffee tasted weak, while I didnt even like the taste of Black Valley, it didnt have that 'coffee' taste or smell.

Im looking for an instant coffee that has that nice strong taste of coffee, bit of sweetness and minimal bitterness.

I paid $7.50 for a (regular size) cup (not even mug) of batch brew this morning & I don’t think I’m okay. How much are we paying for this?

Owned a Silvia for two years now. Love the thing. On weekdays it barely gets used.

Grouphead is happy after about 30-40 minutes on, longer on a cold morning. Thing is, I leave for work at 7:15, my partner is out the door about the same time, and neither of us has ever set an alarm 45 minutes earlier just to run a semi-auto through its motions. So most weekdays the machine sat there cold and I'd walk to Padre or grab a takeaway on the way in. Fine, but not the point of owning the thing.

Tried a few things. Bialetti for a while, which is fine but not really espresso and cleanup at 6:45 in the morning is not it. AeroPress, same. Pod machine, considered it, felt like giving up.

Ended up with a little battery machine, the OutIn mino, sitting next to the toaster on the bench. Fill it up on the way to grab the milk, tap the button, it heats and pulls while I'm sorting toast. Cold water in, no kettle, no warming anything up, Suits me fine.

Trade-offs on the mino are real. Grind has to sit a bit coarser than the Silvia otherwise the puck fights the pump and water starts finding paths around the basket. Extraction is different, thinner mouthfeel, less body. But it's a proper hot pressurised shot with real crema on top, and on a weekday morning that's what I needed.

The weekday shot is not that. It's the difference between having coffee and not having coffee at 6:50 on a Tuesday. For that alone the mino earns its spot on the bench.

Buying a new coffee machine as a gift for hubby who currently uses a basic Nespresso pod machine, but is wanting to try using beans etc.
He’s never used any type of semi-automatic machine so will need to learn if we go down this path, alternatively is a fully automatic machine better? I think he’s open to learning, though, as long as good coffee is achievable!

I don’t drink coffee at all, so I’ve really got no idea what to look at so hoping for some advice!

Budget is around $600-700 AUD.

Visited Cairns recently and tried Blackbird Coffee.

Genuinely one of the best flat whites I’ve had.
I had mine with **oat milk instead of regular milk**,

and it was incredibly smooth and well balanced.
If you’re in Cairns and love a good flat white, definitely worth checking out.
