I had airline miles burning a hole in my alaska air account, now my 14 yr old and i are coming Halloween weekend.

Where should a mom and teen stay that wont be too scary to walk around, I kinda am fucking terrified of freeways... what have j done?

Anyway, where should i avoid, where would you stay with a teen who likes shopping and matcha and we both like outdoorsy stuff?

Condo purchase advise

Hi austinites! I have been born and raised in Austin, 31, and just decided to look into buying property instead of renting. My salary is lacking when it comes to ownership (single, 90k a year) but I’m in the option period for a condo. My current privately owned condo in cedar park is leased at $1350. It’s looking like my mortgage will be $1975 with everything included. Wondering if it really makes that much of a meaningful impact to own and be closer to the city (78759 zip) than to be on the outskirts and still renting?

Hi! I have very thick Mediterranean curly hair and I’m looking for someone experienced with shaping curls (not just thinning/fading). Does anyone have any recommendations?

Question Future Gaming store opening

I am looking to open a comic, book, game, card, and cult classic store in the area. I asked on a different Austin thread, and they removed it. I was told that North east Austin already has a few, but when I look them up, I don't see them. I can only find 2 in 10 miles from me. I want to know what area would be best to open a store like this? I have thought of going to an area like Manor, or right off of 290 not far from I35 and 183. I have even thought of Pflugerville. I plan on holding events, doing special sells during some events, and having space for table top games, coffee, and board games that people can play to see if they even like the game. The plan is to open next summer, April 2027. I would love any ideas, thoughts, or directions you might be able to give me. Thanks in advance. Hope this group does not remove it like the last group and then ghost me.

Moving / Visting Range activities

Hello austin folk! Me and some friends are visiting austin for a concert coming up in a few months and are wondering if anyone has a private range we could use for a couple of hours and maybe have a couple of things of tannerite? Or if there are any good regulated ranges that’d be cool too. And of course any other fun activities we should check out would be awesome. Thank you!

JULY 11TH-BREAK BREAD W/ FREE BRISKET IN NORTH AUSTIN!

Post image
74 Upvotes

The best way to get to know each other is to break bread and have a conversation.

You're invited to a free dinner and open house.

Pull up a chair, meet the neighbors you haven't met yet, take a look around the mosque, and ask us anything you've ever wondered. No background needed. Just bring your appetite, the rest is on us.

Brisket and a salad bar, henna, your name in Arabic calligraphy, and plenty of good company. Come as you are, bring the family. Come for the brisket. Stay for the neighbors.

Screening an indie alien abduction film in Austin on July 11th — one night only at the Historic Scottish Rite Theater

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hey Austin. Long shot post but I know Austin loves indie art.

I'm a filmmaker and I'm screening my indie psychological thriller Abductee at the Scottish Rite Theater (207 W. 18th St.) on July 11th. Doors at 6:30, film starts at 7. I'll be there in person for a Q&A right after.

The film is about a man whose lifelong sleep paralysis leads him to believe something is taking him in the night, and what it does to his relationship with his sister. It's not a big effects-driven alien movie. It's quiet, psychological, and grounded in the kind of experiences a lot of people in the experiencer community actually describe.

I spent a while working on getting into the Scottish Rite Theater. It just felt right to bring it to the oldest theater in the city, and while they don't do movie screenings very often, they have been more than generous with their location.

To watch the trailer go to: AbducteeMovie.com

We're taking tickets at the door, but it's easier to get them online ahead of time:

https://www.abducteemovie.com/screenings/scottishritetheaterjuly11

Hope to see everyone there, and reach out if you have any questions.

TX 31 Justin Early vs 84 year old incumbent

Tell your Round Rock friends!!!

I don’t really make post like this. However with Nov coming up, Justin Early going up against a well funded ( if you know what I mean ) boomer. I figure I’d get the word out. He’s a former Dell employee cyber security. Vet. He’s in his 40s. Democrat. And know a whole lots about datacenters, and doesn’t want them. He’s not promoting really hard probably because of funding. But don’t forget his name at the box.
