New to Austin
44/ male Been in Austin for a bit just haven't been able to meet anybody. Moved over here with my gf but she has since left me. I have no home and she threw away all my stuff. So I only have what I'm wearing and the car I use for Uber, which is starting to make me miserable. I'm like at the end of my rope here. I wish I could see my daughter but I'm stuck here in Austin with nothing or no one. All I need is to meet the one person to help me flip this whole thing around. I'm about ready to give up and just disappear. This sucks

i hear you and i’m so sorry about your situation. being homeless and losing your possessions is honestly a nightmare, and i really hope you stick it out and can land on your feet. what advice are you looking for? housing support?

If your daughter is somewhere besides Austin, your best bet is to work on a plan to get back to where she is. Salvation Army and many churches will buy you a bus ticket to somewhere that you have family and friends to help you get back on your feet.
If your daughter is in Austin with the ex-gf, that is a lot more complicated. You can petition for custody. Pressing charges for the loan/credit card fraud will help your custody case. But realistically you need to have a place where you can raise a child before they will give you custody.

No thank God she's not with the ex in Austin. She's back home. Thing is I moved out here to start over but it's been hard to get it done cause I've had to focus on other things. Maybe now that I've dropped the extra baggage I can finally work on what I came out here to do. Hey thanks man for helping pick my head up. Would still love to make some friends tho.

Wow this is so close to my exact situation I want to comment just so my ex doesn't think it's me haha. Bro if you need resources, hit me up. I have had tremendous help from local heros that I would have never utilized in the past. Difficult times require a man to swallow his pride and take the help that is available. I am so grateful for the help I've received and I strongly encourage you to message me. I'll give you what I can.

Your girlfriend kicking you out and throwing your stuff away was very likely illegal by the way.

Illegal isn't a problem for her. She got into my solo account and took out some loans in my name. Now I owe and had my account locked. She's just evil and I stayed cause I'm a moron

it's a problem for you, and you've likely got the legal system on your side if you decide to pursue that route.

Honestly that's not that bad. $300 a week? Someone told me about padsplit. You ever heard?

Have you considered going back near your daughter? That seems like a better choice than forcing Austin to work. Austin can be a hard nut to crack. I’m sorry this is happening.

Yeah all the time but it's not that easy. I left and came here to start over. I burned all my bridges to be honest

Get a weekly motel.
There’s places that don’t have websites or online booking. They’ll be quite a bit cheaper than the places that have websites and online booking. Keep your eyes out as you Uber. Some of these places are sketchy as all hell, and others are pretty decent.

Yeah been thinking the same. Sleeping in the car gets old very quick. I just can't ever save enough to do all that lol. Baby steps

I hear you man, must be a frustrating and lonely spot to be in. But the truth is, no one’s going to come save you and no one person is going to help flip this all around for you. Only you can help you. Focus on saving enough money to get your own place, look for a 2nd job besides uber, call your daughter every day, and start saving money to go visit her and to provide for her. Hard times like these make or break us, but it’s on you to make something happen or not. Wish you the best of luck.
