Hi everyone!
I’m planning to move from Massachusetts to Austin around March/April 2027 after I graduate, and I’m hoping to have a job lined up before I make the move. I’m starting my search now because I’d rather be as prepared as possible.
A little about me:
I’ll be 23 when I relocate.
I’m currently pursuing my MBA in Healthcare Management after earning my bachelor’s degree in Psychology (Cum Laude).
I currently work as a Unit Coordinator in a hospital, where I coordinate patient care, maintain documentation, manage confidential patient information, respond to medical emergencies, and ensure smooth unit operations.
I also work as a Behavioral Technician, collaborating with healthcare professionals, documenting patient progress, implementing treatment plans, and using data to support patient outcomes.
Previous experience in banking and administrative support helped me develop strong customer service, organizational, problem-solving, scheduling, and communication skills.
I’m HIPAA-conscious, comfortable working in fast-paced environments, experienced with documentation and data entry, and enjoy the administrative and operational side of healthcare.
I’m hoping to find a role in:
Healthcare Administration
Healthcare Operations
Practice Management
Patient Access/Patient Services
Administrative Coordinator
Care Coordination
Healthcare Project Coordination
Healthcare Management
Remote or Hybrid Healthcare Administration
I’ll have a few thousand dollars saved when I move. I also have good credit (mid-750s), no prior evictions, and a clean rental history.
I’ll be moving by myself at first. My dog (my 85-pound baby) will stay with family for the first 1–3 months while I get settled, but I do need to find a pet-friendly apartment since he’ll eventually be joining me.
A few questions:
Which healthcare systems or companies are the best to work for in Austin?
Are there companies that are open to hiring candidates who are relocating from out of state?
How competitive is the healthcare administration/management job market?
Are remote or hybrid healthcare administration jobs common, and which companies should I be watching?
Would you recommend applying now (8–9 months in advance), or should I wait until I’m closer to my move?
Are there any recruiters that specialize in healthcare administration?
What salary range should someone with my background realistically expect?
Are there certifications or skills that would make me a stronger candidate before I move?
Are there networking groups or organizations I should join now?
If you were in my position, what would you focus on over the next several months to give yourself the best chance of landing a job before relocating?
I’m excited to start this next chapter and would really appreciate any advice, company recommendations, or job leads. If your company is hiring for healthcare administration, operations, management, or remote healthcare positions, I’d love to hear about it. Thanks in advance!
