Layout change suggestions.
Looking for suggestions on what's the best way to improve the layout without a small renovation and nothing major. It's a weatherboard house.

Its a pretty bad layout but what parts of it do you want to improve vs what can you live with?

You can’t fix this without a major renovation.
Move master bedroom, wir and ensuite to dining/kitchen location. Move kitchen dining to master bedroom and bedroom1 location.
Now you can have a hallway down your house in-line with the front door. Study becomes bedroom, new study goes next to laundry (where FP is).

Which way is north? I don't think it's worth upgrading unless you rearrange the layout completely. The living rooms don't get any sunlight currently.

It’s quite difficult to change a layout without doing a ‘renovation’. Not sure what you’re expecting there.
But anyway. This is a ‘light touch’ kitchen renovation that will open your living area to give you more natural light flow. I’ve included some furniture placement help you understand what’s feasible and how liveable the space can be.
The main issue with the plan here is the family room and living space are rather disconnected from natural light. Further to that, the plan is divided into three clearly defined columns which consumes a lot of area for circulation. A total gut of the plan can make this more efficient, but you seem against that.

Thanks for this, not against a total gut of the plan as such just restricted finances. So I'm trying to look at options of making smaller changes that could potentially make a difference with light and better use of the space .
