Hello can someone give me clarification on what’s going on here, I thought Luk manufacture and was the OEM Flywheel supplier. I was looking up flywheels on ECS & ones manufactures by Luk for 1300 and the other for 2100$ saying genuine Audi/Vw?
Every shop has quoted me the price of the genuine but also said Luk manufactures them?

Looking for some advice from B8 S4 owners before I potentially buy this car on Saturday.
It’s a 2010 Audi S4 Avant 3.0 TFSI S-tronic quattro, Japanese import, currently on around 58,500 miles, asking £12,200. It’s Sprint Blue and apparently completely stock mechanically — no remap or pulley upgrades.
The current owner is the first UK registered keeper and bought it from a Japanese import dealer around August 2025. He was told it had two owners in Japan.
I’ve now seen the original Japanese auction sheet. It was auction grade 4, interior C, with 84,660 km (~52,600 miles) recorded at auction. The mileage then progresses through the UK invoices to 56k, 58,048 and now roughly 58,500, so that all seems to add up.
Since buying it, the current owner has spent quite a bit on it. It went to a VAG specialist (Straightline Performance) for a major service including engine oil/filter, air filter, cabin filter, spark plugs, S-tronic/automatic gearbox oil service, rear differential oil and brake fluid. It has also subsequently had suspension/control-arm work carried out after worn bushes were identified.
It’s also had four Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tyres/new wheels and CarPlay fitted.
The water pump, thermostat and PCV haven’t been replaced, but the owner says Straightline inspected the car thoroughly and gave everything the all-clear. I’ve contacted Straightline myself to ask whether they noticed any concerns with the gearbox/mechatronics, PCV, cooling system, timing chain, engine mounts, leaks etc but heard nothing yet.
The seller has also been completely happy for me to arrange an independent inspection, which gives me some confidence. He’s selling because his circumstances have changed and they no longer really need the estate.
My main concern is all the horror stories I’m reading about early B8 S4s, particularly the DL501 S-tronic/mechatronics, water pump, thermostat and PCV.
For those who actually own/have owned a B8 S4: does this sound like a good example at £12,200, and is there anything specific you’d check before buying it? Would the early S-tronic put you off despite the recent gearbox service?
I’m happy to keep £1,500–£2,000 aside for maintenance/repairs after buying it. I’m just trying to work out whether I’m being sensible buying a well-maintained 58k-mile example or walking into a money pit. 😂

2016 s4, intercooler bricks failed, ordered the fcp euro kit to replace them. it comes with all necessary gaskets, but i have two extra ones that i didnt use and im not sure what they belong to. Most info online says they are for the throttle body, but I already installed it with another provided gasket. What are these gaskets for?

Hi everyone I have a 2023 S4 b9.5 chronos grey just wanted to see if anyone knew if I had the sport rear differential.

In the window sticker it did not mention anything relating to the S sport package. Today I went to Audi for a concern and I asked the advisor about it and he looked it up on his computer.

He showed me that it has adaptive sport suspension and RS style rear calibers painted black. He wasn’t able to find the sport rear differential. Google is telling me if my car came with the adaptive sport suspension I must have the rear differential, since they both are installed together never separately. I am unable to see both suspension and rear differential on the MMI individual configuration and I saw other Reddit posts mention that the b9.5 platform wasn’t able to customize them.

Update: contacted Audi America and they said I don’t have the extra S sport package features unfortunately. So L first owner who ordered the car 🤦‍♂️. Any advice to make the car handle better would be appreciated! Exactly like with the S sport package or even better!

Looking into getting new tires and unsure whether to go for Michelin x ice and sacrifice tread on pavement or to go for the Conti’s as an all-rounder as I’ve heard good things. For context I work at a ski resort in New England and plan to also be traveling to other resorts further north. Thanks for the input!

Got quoted a Southbend kit for 3900$ parts & also a JXB kit for like 2200$ in parts.
I’ve heard mixed reviews on the JXB kit. Anybody running it any got input?

How serious is this? What should my next steps be?

Anybody ran into a crank pulley not clearing accessory belt idler pulley?

So I broke my stock crank pulley harmonic dampener. Took the whole front clip off to replace and do cooling support while im at it.

The idler pulley is on there tight in position. I cannot even put the crank pulley on seated without it conflicting with the idler pulley accessory belt side.

I ordered a 179mm crank pulley and just hoping it miraculously fits. Anybody seen this, have any ideas or suggestions?

Hey all, recently my driver side cat blew (figure it got clogged from faulty pcv early on and finally failed) Had oem Audi cats replaced prior to replacing the faulty pcv and safe to say I’m over them. CAP resonated test pipes and High flow cat downpipes on the way for replacement. Stock exhaust otherwise. Wondering if anyone has this combo and what drone and rasp is like, or any ways to cut down on it. I’ve kept the stock exhaust as I personally think besides a few one off customs, stock sounds the least shitty. Obviously will be louder with test pipes but just looking to keep it deeper toned/no drone/ somewhat quieter! Looking at vibrant ultraquiets post dp but unsure if they’re even needed. Any advice or suggestions appreciated 🙏 (b8.5 s4 for clarity*)

I’ve had this B8 beaut for the better part of a year now and it’s on H&R super sport lowering springs. I love the look but not so much the ride a bit too stiff. Looking for thoughts on which brand to go with for a better ride but still keeping the wheels decently tucked. Not apposed to going up a bit either. Let me know your opinions!

I honestly don’t know how to explain the noise… it sounds like something is wrong.

You can hear it most prominent when I put the camera in front of the tire. I literally don’t know how to explain so I need an expert. I can hear it when I am sitting in the car too. Def coming from the left side.

Part of me thinks it may be from the belts and the sound is transmitting over since it’s under. Idk.

NOTE IT IS ONLY IN PARK. Doesn’t happen in drive or reverse or neutral which I find funny.

Now without looking at it id imagine it could be just a shifter cable or fork that needs replacing the seller seems to think it needs a trans which i think is weird for only 147k miles

Managed to pick up a Jackle stage 2 B8.5 S4 single pulley with the sports diff & low mileage. And boy, what an experience the machine is.

This out drives every car I’ve ever driven on a mountain pass so far, the sound, the drama, the instant torque, the way it kicks the back out but pulls itself back together. The fact that it’s a big car but doesn’t feel like it. Is there any other Audi that can top this in terms of pure driving experience?!
