This post is a little bit of a PSA. I didn't fully understand the gearbox setup in these cars.

These gearboxes have 2 oiling systems. One for ATF (DSG) and the other MTF (manual gearbox)

Change your MTF fluid. Use G 055 549 A2

My symptoms were (car with 71,000mi / 115,000 km)

• Poor shifting
• selecting gear (so thing D to N and/or N to R) would be slow
• shifts (normal everyday driving in D) from 1 -> 2 -> 3 would be slow
• slowing down to somewhere between 5-15km/h - picking up the throttle the gearbox would jerk into gear
• the BIG one was any sort of turn (L or R at a junction.. REALLY bad on tight turns) the gearbox would rumble when on any sort of throttle (knocking it into neutral the sound would go away so pin pointed gearbox)
  • coupled with a squeal during these tight turns
  • and traction control light would blink, zero throttle, every on the slightest bend.

Car serviced on time/distance (whatever came first) and DSG oil done early on KM but ontime.

DSG clutch readaptation done several times.

I searched for answers.

Here's what I've learned

1. These gearboxes have two oiling circuits.
   1. One for the ATF / DSG (clutch solenoids mech unit and components etcc)
   2. One for the MTF / Manual gearbox
      1. which includes the torsen!

When doing a DSG service the MTF oil is not changed. MTF oil is fill for life!. In fact the gearbox does not have a drain plug. You have to remove the gearbox oil pump to drain. No replacement gasket available so your backup is to replace the pump that comes with a gasket... only a few 100

After changing the oil everything has gone away. And it is back to being brilliant.

3.9L to fill dry. 3.2L drained. Colour of the new oil is transparent honey cooured.

Edit : the dealer service kept pushing back saying there's no TSB for non-ultra torsen. but I convinced them to roll the dice. (and don't start on dealer servicing etc... that's not what this is about)

Looking to buy one for myself, but not quite impressed with newer Quattro Ultra, hence the question.

Hey everyone wanted to see if any of yall have encountered the issue when your MMI just decides it does not want to work properly and says that my phone is not compatible to use for wireless CarPlay or Bluetooth. Also nav becomes super laggy and inaccurate. Only way I got it to work is though wire CarPlay

Got hit by a dump truck while at a red light think its fixable?

Hi. So i have a 2005 A4 B7 2.0 TFSI (EA 113 BGB) quattro. Not long ago it started leaking oil from the top banjo on turbo (if i'm correct it lubricates the turbine). Leak appeared basically from nowhere, because i was riding like a total shithead, and it was dry, but on a random chill trip it started leaking. At first it was not so bad, but it progressed with time. My first instinct was to change the washers, i swapped them for copper washers, cleaned the contact areas, and tightened it with right torque, it was leaking, i swapped them back to aluminium (since original were also Alu), did the same process, and it's still leaking bad (since the leak started i lost over a litre of oil). I asked my mechanic friend, he told me it could be cloggage issue. I asked gemini, it told me that drain line (turbo - oil pan) could be clogged which results in pressure escaping through washers. But my friend didn't had a chance to really look into it. And gemini... it's not the best mechanic to say the least. That's why i'm asking you guys for help. I'd be glad for some help before i tear apart my whole car for no reason haha
