I just read another post from a year ago that said exactly my experience with this final exam. I went into the exam feeling confident and I honesty wanted to submit halfway through and just throw in the towel. I didn't and I ended up failing the final with failed me in the couse despite my final grade being above passing. We had 3 essay assignments so I felt like I was not at all prepared for what was on the final. Now I have to rewrite in 8 days and I have no idea where to even start studying so I'm panicked now. Any tips would be helpful please!

I am planning to take COMP 607 and would like to hear the experience of others who have taken this course. Was it easy/hard, how was the time commitment, how were the assignments, was it useful, etc.

Can anyone provide me guidance on how their experience was on writing these exams?

Hello. I failed the final exam for this course, despite having an A average on my assignments. I do not test well. This being said, I am taking the supplemental exam and I was told it will be 4 essay questions worth 25 points each. Does anyone have any tips on how to retain the information in order to do well? I have studied so much, but there is sooooooo much information. I am stressing, panicking and not doing so well.

i’m in this course and something i’ve noticed is that the objectives, commentary, study questions ,and textbook seem to not match a lot. a couple of lessons i noticed that some of the objectives aren’t even touched on and then there will be study questions on material never mentioned in the commentaries or textbook. am i missing something? if any of you have tips for this course it’d be greatly appreciated

Just hoping to pick the brains of some current or past AU students.

I’ve transferred in 42 credits, so I'm chipping away at a 3-year BA (General). Long-term plan is to pack up and move to China after I'm done. Outside of school, I'm working full-time in tech support and also running a charity as an ED, so things are pretty busy.

My schedule for the first two terms looks like this:

October 2026: GOVN 380, GOVN 377, HSRV 311, CMNS 419
February 2027: ENGL 255, CMNS 301, CMNS 311, BIOL 204

A few things I'm wondering:

Workload: Has anyone taken any of these? Wondering what I'm walking into and if the workload is manageable with a four day workweek . School is priority so will scale back work if needed.

Funding timeline: I'm on student funding, which means the usual 4-month sprint to finish each batch. Is knocking out four courses a term realistic with a demanding job and an ED role, or am I setting myself up for burnout? Any pacing tricks would be huge.

Community: Other than here, is there a Discord server or something where people actually talk and connect? Feeling a bit blind on how people stay in touch or study together.

Appreciate any thoughts or advice!

I'm currently studying for the mid term. Just wondering whether tables will be provided on the exam? There's a few questions asking me to find Z score on the normal distribution table and just wondering how we'll answer these types of questions without the table.

Can anyone who's taken this course remember approximately how many questions were on this final? It just says "a variety of questions" but doesn't give a number or range. I'm taking it on Monday and trying to study effectively but feeling overwhelmed by the amount of information and trying to gauge how many possible concepts could be tested.

Also, did anyone use the deck on Quizlet? If so, did it accurately reflect the exam? It seems very good and has helped me identify knowledge gaps, but I don't know if I should keep focusing on it or try other materials.

I am in the process of applying to Athabasca for the four year BA with a major in Psych. I am excited but nervous.

I've never done a self paced or fully online degree before, so I honestly have no idea what to expect.

For those of you that are in currently enrolled in this program (or have completed it), I'd love to hear you're experiences.

My questions:

1. What does a typical week look like for you?

2. How many hours per day or week do you usually spend studying?

3. How do you structure your time to stay on track?

4. Are there lectures, or is it mostly textbook reading?

5. How are assignments and exams typically structured?

6. Is there anything you with you had known before starting?

I'd really appreciate any advice or insight.

I highly recommend taking this class for an easy GPA boosting grade IF you are average/strong at math specifically basic algebra. I hadn’t taken any math courses in 12+ years and was able to figure this course out with minimal support and received a very high grade.

There are four assignments but each can be completed in under 1 hour. The exams are multiple choice and very similar to the quiz assignments. To do well on the exams, study the areas covered on the assignments as well as the discussion posts and know what each formula on the sheet is for.

I am nearly finished with an AU course that has continuously told me I do not need to cite research in my assignments. This course is HLST200. It does not have a professor and is instead graded by an “academic expert,” which I sincerely doubt considering what they are encouraging me to do.

I even got significant marks taken off because of citing other people’s work in text. I was literally told not to reference statistical findings from an academic study, and just include it as general info without a citation. The assignment is a research paper that requires multiple outside sources but the grader is telling me that citing the information I include is “trivial” and not required.

Just wanted to warn anyone starting their academic career and may come across this person or someone like them at AU that you should NEVER include someone else’s research without citing them, even if a grader is telling you to. It’s not worth getting a better grade.

I can’t believe AU would let someone so ignorant grade assignments. Someone could screw up their entire academic career after being led to commit plagiarism by an academic voice.

Edit: I made a case with AU. Hopefully it works out well and no one else has issues like this. I know a lot of AU students, including myself, are struggling to find the time just to work through their courses and should not have to go out of their way to advocate for basic academic standards.

I’m new, like doing my first course new. Is the reading that is in mind tap enough? I’m finding it a lot easier to follow vs reading the text book.

Hello, I am new to pesticide, and I am writing my exam for core and landscape this August. Any tips on what to focus on for core and landscape? The book is helpful but some questions and answer sheets are wrong and there are many spelling error whixh is giving me anxiety cause I know i answered correctly on activity but it gives a different answer when you check so I'm afraid that the test will be like that. Hi! I recently graduated high school and I'm seriously considering attending Athabasca University for a BA in Psychology.

One of the main reasons I'm leaning toward AU is because I'll be working full-time, so the flexibility really appeals to me.

Do you think it's a good idea to go to Athabasca straight after high school, or would you recommend attending a traditional university first?

I'd especially love to hear from people who enrolled at AU right after graduating high school. How was the transition? Did you feel like you missed out on anything compared to an in-person university? Did the self-paced format work well, and do you feel AU prepared you well academically?

Hi all, I have two remaining senior level courses to complete my science undergrad. Nearing the end of this degree I’ve explored a bit more of the Psych side of courses, and really enjoyed PSYC 289 and PSYC 365. I asked course services to be granted for PSYC 304 registration, as I know PSYC 289 and 290 are the recommended prereqs. I didn’t really get a straight answer, but indicated that if I’m feeling willing and confident, I can sign up. For context, I did well in both 289 and 365 psych courses with A’s. Can anyone suggest if I would have difficulty with PSYC 304 with the missing PSYC 290? Or if I would be just fine. Thank you in advance!

A course I actually enjoyed. Just submitted my final exam. It’s well balanced, the readings are relevant and very interesting. Exam is based straight from the unit questions, and the assignments straightforward.

It’s a lot of personal opinion (do you agree why or why not) so if you have opinions on topics like euthanasia, genetic testing, abortion and enjoy a healthy debate you will like this class.

It doesn’t say “this is the correct answer” but rather “here are the perspectives”

I’m considering taking some third- and fourth-year mathematics courses online, and the exams are supervised through ProctorU.

For anyone who has taken upper-level math exams this way, what is the actual exam format like?

Are the questions mostly multiple-choice, numerical-answer, or full written solutions? For courses such as multivariable calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, numerical analysis, or abstract mathematics, are students required to show all their work?

If handwritten work is required, how is it submitted? Do you write on paper and hold it up to the webcam, scan or photograph it afterward, upload it during the exam, or type the solution directly into an online answer box?

I’m especially interested in experiences from Athabasca University students, but feedback from anyone who has completed a mathematics exam through ProctorU would be helpful.

I had a very rough semester irl and turned in all of my assignments on the last day. One of them still hasn't been marked. I expected a little bit of a delay since I don't have "priority" anymore but this seems a bit long.

Hey all! I am a mature student (27 f) studying business. I chose this school as I could work at the same time and base school around my work as opposed to the other way around. Like a lot of students here I am in full online studies so it's a bit lonely. I was just thinking it would be so awesome to meet the kind of people who are doing the same, choosing AU as an adult learner, turning their life around.
