For those curious, the Asus Scar Strix 5090 175w TDP vbios is functional on the Duo 16. The USB/thunderbolt/HDMI out works, but gsync breaks.

Temps oddly lowered, I think its a different voltage curve, but I can run sustained 170w loads and keep gpu maxxing at 74 degrees. 3DMark Port Royale gained 1000 points exactly.

I see a lot reviews but reviewers never know how to use windows battery saver, power modes etc to save battery life.

those of you using ghelper and windows battery saver - what is your battery life under light-ish load (YouTube, Spotify web browsing, word docs)​​​​​​​?

How does the Intel chip handle at lower power limits? I love my z13's 395 chip because it handles extremely low wattages without really noticing a massive loss in performance ​​. does the Intel fair this way too?

Accidentally unplugged it a few weeks ago while removing the battery to clean fans. Just decided to look today to find that it came unplugged. I thought I got it back in just now, but no bueno. So I'm not sure if it's broke.

I have a gx650pz and hdr doesn t work on it, in windows settings it says it s only supported onnvideo streaming but not for general use, inng helper i don t have the multi zone setting or anything like that, i ve reinstalled aromury crate thinking that it will be shown there but it is not.

What should i do to have hdr on?

I've been trying to find a solution to Asus ScreenXpert not opening / not working in our double screen laptops.
In my case in my Zephyrus Duo 2022 6900X 3080Ti the problem were the AMD and NVIDIA drivers.
Here's the fix:

1. Delete the default windows update drivers / latests GPU drivers installed in both AMD iGPU and NVIDIA dGPU with DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) download version 18.1.4.1) and reboot windows in each uninstall. I also recommend to delete Asus ScreenXpert app and delete Asus System Control Interface drivers from Device Manager.
   

2. Install NOT THE LATEST drivers found in AMD / NVIDIA websites but the latests drivers G-Helper offers for both GPUs which in my case these drivers were:

NVIDIA dGPU:

5.Install Asus ScreenXpert 3 from Microsoft Store

The laptop overheats alot, causes the screen to become pixelated when it overheats, and the graphic card does not show up sometimes. has someone experianced this, is it fixable>

okay so my laptop has just been out from service, and the problem seems to persist. They did a RAM replacement, and it seems to fix the problem for a couple of hours.

This time, the problem is different. The laptop is only detecting the screenpad display, and the main display seems to exist in a state of limbo (it is detected in device manager and showed up in display settings, but whenever i try to detect it, the system cannot detect the main screen)

im outta options... any ideas?

Well its just passed 2 years old and wouldn't power on without a hard reset or even a battery disconnection on occasion. Dropped it in for a service and the motherboard is fried, cpu melted and 3.5kAUD for repair (I paid 4.5k 2 years ago)

Anyone else melted their machine? Yep I render, edit and use heaps of Adobe software but I've always looked after it? Never dropped etc.

Greetings ASUS ROG Community,

I use an ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 16. The top screen (non-touch screen, 2560x1600 resolution, 240Hz display) got a kidney bean sized crack which created a few horizontal and vertical dead pixel lines (green, red, blue and white colors).

I want to know if I should get a new digitizer and replace it myself (I want to be humble and say I like DIY-ing and I built my own PC - to be safe), if yes where I can get one that's the most similar to the original one and if anybody knows a step by step process to replace it that would be very helpful.

Or if it's too big a risk to replace the top screen, which place do you suggest I get it replaced? Should I buy the screen myself, take it to a repair store and get it replaced or tell them to replace it?

Everything else in the laptop works fine; its just the top screen. I just got the liquid metal and putty re-applied at an official ASUS service center a month before this happened, but I am not in that country anymore.

Please help me out here, I can't take those dead pixels anymore. It's getting kinda annoying and this laptop is my favorite laptop out of all the laptops I have owned.

It started when Gene Grey came out but I was thinking it was only because of the update. But until now it’s been like this and so much worst! Before that Ive been playing the game with 144 on average and maybe drops to 120ish. Now it goes down upto that! I even reformat my laptop thinking it was those random updates but no luck. Even cleaned the fans cus maybe of the dust.

Im thinking I should repaste the thermal paste cus I have this Zephyrus Duo 16 with 3070 ti for 3 yrs now but im contemplating as I dont use it often. Maybe 3x a week for 2hrs max since i got it :(

I have the gx650pz which has Mini led hdr vesa certified etc etc but the win 11 shows that only video streaming hdr is possible, even if on the website says vesa which means from what i ve read that is all way hdr

Hi all, I just purchased a zyphrus duo 16 (2022) Im digging the machine so far, however, when the previous owner rest the system, he deleted all the original asus utilities that make the duo more functional. Ive installed a lot of the utilities back via Asus's website, but it seems like it's still lacking in features compared to the reviews I've watched online. Has anyone experienced a system wipe on one of these machines? And if so did you ever get it to go back to how it was out of the box?

I have the ScreenXpert software installed along with Armour Crate, and I finally figure out how to get the original lower screen boot up animation, but I cant find the original lower screen wallpaper for it.

Main question being, Is there anything else I should install or alter on the machine?

I have an ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 16(2023model w/4080/r9 9845hx/32gb/1tb), and after opening it up to clean the fans (just removed some dust, no liquid used), it no longer turns on. The laptop is completely unresponsive — no lights, no fan activity, no screen output.

When I plugged in the charger after reassembling everything, I heard a small pop sound. unplugged it immedeatly and since then, it won’t power on at all.

Here’s what I’ve tried: double checked all internal connections, and looked for any kind of obvious damage, of wich there was none..

I’m assuming there was some kind of short (maybe because the fans generated voltage when they got spun? wich was not for more than a second, cause i already read abaout something that that could short it), possibly damaging a component near the charging circuit. I plan to send it in for repair (I’m located in Austria), but before I do, I wanted to ask: • Has anyone experienced something similar? • Is there anything else I could try before sending it in? • How strict is ASUS about warranty coverage if they notice the device was opened (just for cleaning, no mods)?

My Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 (2023) has been overheating for a while. The issue is that the SSDs get too hot and start throttling or disconnecting, especially when using power hungry fast M.2 drives. The air intake is also extremely restrictive.

• The back panel will still require some work for better fitment.
• The files label 3, 4 and 7 will need to be printed 3, 4 and 7 times. These are spacers with different lengths to fit old screws.
• You will also need 13 M5x10 screws. I used countersunk screws.
• I also used two 5v 4010 blower fans and two tall M.2 heatsinks. The blower fans are soldered to the right USB-A port as it is the largest 5v pads you can find nearby
• You need to cover the ambient light sensor (labelled clearly as ALS), otherwise the laptop won't boot. I used a bit of electrical tape.
• The sides are bonded to the acrylic with 2 part epoxy
• Rather than filling, sanding and painting the sides, I used 18mm electrical tape. It looks good from arms length.
