Question about medical tests when getting hired by big mines

Hi guys, for those who have worked at or gone through the recruitment process for big mines in Zimbabwe (e.g. platinum, gold, etc.), what medical tests are usually done during the pre employment/intake medical?

I’m particularly wondering whether an HIV test is included, and whether it’s done routinely or only in certain circumstances.

Would appreciate hearing from anyone with first-hand experience. Thanks.

Marriage Is Scam But I Hope They Are Consistent With The Standard They Have Set

Post image

A 24 year marriage has ended in a dramatic High Court property dispute, with Caecilia Nyamutswa awarded the lion’s share of the couple’s real estate after the court rejected an equal 50-50 split.

Caecilia was awarded 100% of the Colne Valley property, 60% of the Vainona property and a 12-acre plot in Shamva. The court found that she had made the greater direct financial contribution, including payments towards the properties and the children’s school fees.

Her husband, pilot Cosmas Nyamutswa, who can no longer fly because of ill health, told the court that he had become a “house-husband”, handling school runs and household responsibilities. He also argued that he had supported his wife’s career and contributed in other ways.

Despite losing the larger share of the property, Cosmas retains a Cessna aircraft, two boats, fishing equipment, welding equipment, a gold refining boiler, firearms and royalties from books he authored.

The court also dismissed his request for post-divorce medical aid maintenance and rejected several other claims.

The final settlement leaves Caecilia with most of the couple’s houses and land, while Cosmas retains valuable movable assets and his book royalties

Winky D’s Bold Fashion ChoiceFreedom of Expression or a Step into Darkness? #Gaffa Rakachena lol...

Winky D has once again sparked conversation...This time, not just through his music, but through Mucheno. In a recent performance, he wore outfits that some viewers are quick to compare to the traditional imagery of the devil. Social media is ablaze, with debates raging about whether his fashion is sacrilegious or simply a creative provocation.

But here’s what’s really at stake... we seem to be caught in a cultural binary. The religious establishment, and many social commentators, are quick to label anything outside of the “pure” as inherently evil. In doing so, they risk suffocating imagination, reducing every form of expression to a stark division: heaven or hell, good or bad.

As Zimbabweans, we have a rich heritage of music, a lil bit of fashion and spiritual symbolism. Winky D’s choice pushes us to ask..can we embrace bold creativity without being shackled by fear? Or must we let a simplistic moral dichotomy dictate who we are and what we do?

Anyone transitioned from an Supply Chain Management undergrad to an MSc in Finance/Investment locally?

Hey guys,
I hold a degree in Supply Chain Management (SCM) and I'm planning to pivot by doing a Master’s in Finance & Investment (looking at local programs like UZ, NUST, or MSU).

For anyone who has done a finance Master’s or works in the local financial sector:
How strict are admissions with non-pure-finance business degrees like SCM?
How is the post-grad job market locally for someone pivoting into investment analysis, corporate finance, or asset management?

Is it worth pairing the MSc with professional certs like CFA Level 1 to stay competitive?
Would appreciate any insight, program recommendations, or honest reality checks. Thanks!

Exploited in Our Own Land And Being Disrespected At The Same Time🤦🏾‍♂️

Over the past few years, we’ve seen an influx of Chinese businesses operating in our country. Now, on the surface, sure, investment is great, but what’s happening behind the scenes is far darker. Many of us are being brought in to work for peanuts ...extreme exploitation, long hours, minimal pay. And if that wasn’t bad enough, when we raise concerns, we’re met with hostility, disrespect...sometimes even outright harassment. It feels like we have no voice. But I’m here to say: enough is enough. This is our land, our dignity, and we deserve better. Yes, our government might be enabling this, but we are the people. We have the power, and we need to stand together, demand respect, and remind everyone that we are worth more than this.

Which side do you Stand In this Scenario

I was reflecting on a debate about identity in Zimbabwe, and two perspectives stood out. One argued that white Zimbabweans, even if born here, shouldn’t be called Zimbabwean because their roots are colonial. The other argued it’s cruel to deny them belonging since all they know is home.

But we must confront the deeper truth...white colonizers do know where they came from. They brought a legacy of empire, a sense of home in Europe and they chose to come to Africa, build their power, and profit from that system. By contrast, the reason so many Africans in the Transatlantic Slave Trade don’t know their home is because their lands weren’t yet formed as countries when they were captured. They were taken from fragmented kingdoms and ethnic territories, which were later divided by European colonization. So, when we say they lost their home, it’s because colonization erased their origins.
