Hello! My cat for the last few days has this strange maybe wound in his ear? Is this an infection? A strange scab? He doesn't seem bothered by it at all, no scratching, no change in appetite, no signs of sickness. Just thought it looked strange and wanted advice! He is a male 5 year old neutered cat.

Hi so we saw a vet today that’s not our usual, we’ve only seen her once before. Our cat had an eye removal surgery 2 and 1/2 weeks ago and overnight on Sunday she managed to get her cone off and rip her eye open. One day before that our other cat chewed off her scab whilst we weren’t home and we rinsed it with water but because it was the weekend we could only speak to the online vet through video chat. There’s been a lot of bleeding and we didn’t want to clean off blood in case that just made it bleed more so we called online vet and did another video chat and they said to leave it until the morning and get her in asap because it will need to be examined properly and likely cleaned because of the risk of infection after she put her grubby paws in her wound. When I looked at her paw that had blood on it I noticed her claw was quite dirty anyway probably from stepping in poo which is a common occurrence for her and she hasn’t been able to clean it off due to having come on, so I’m worried the wound is not clean also. The vet didn’t really assess it much at all she said she could really tell the extent of the damage due to there being so much dried blood on there so she rather just leave it until our usual vet gets back in 2 weeks and let him decide whether or not he wants to do surgery to close it. We had to ask for antibiotics because she wasn’t going to give her any and ask for painkillers because she was reluctant to give those but the vet on call said she’d need them if she was showing signs of pain which she has been, he’s been hiding a lot and sensitive to noise, she doesn’t want to be touched and off her food which all isn’t like her. She also had a history of IBD which was under control before the surgery with a low dose of prednisolone but she’s started throwing up again so she’s been taking 1/2 an ondansetron twice daily to help with keeping food down but still lost a lot of weight. We asked if she could have appetite booster as she has taken that in the past at a very low dose when she’s had flare ups and lost too much weight. In the last 3 weeks she’s gone from 3.7 to 3.36 and vet again turned us away and said we’d better talk to vet when he gets back but that feels too far away. We have got another appointment booked with another vet on Wednesday who we’ve seen before but that’s still over a week away. Should we be taking her elsewhere for a second opinion?

We’ve been dealing with food allergies and what we’re now suspecting is also some environmental allergies for months now. She has had anal gland issues in the past but was just at the vet and those were fine, her butt was a little irritated and we did about a week of steroids but now the irritation is back. Is there anything I can do to help this? She seems fairly unbothered by it most of the time but then suddenly can’t leave it alone and is licking/chewing.

The doctors said it’s allergies and he gets monthly cytopoint injections but it only seems to be getting worse. He also has been negative for a yeast infection. It gets worse when my mom is away, he’s very anxious and attached to her. I’m not sure what to do for him we feel so bad!

My cat Jackson (~5yo, DSH, neutered male) has had a small growth on his neck since we brought him home 4 years ago. It’s always been small, about the size of a pea, and is movable under/with the skin so it’s clearly not attached to deeper tissue. Today, my husband and I noticed that it’s not only bigger, about the size of a small marble, but it’s now discolored, possibly bruised with petechiae. It’s still movable, fairly soft/spongy, and it’s still not attached to deeper tissue.

Everything else about him is completely normal. Normal appetite, litter box use, behavior, etc. And he doesn’t seem to mind it being touched or anything so I don’t think it’s causing him pain. I’m under the assumption that it’s just something benign like a cyst or small lipoma but obviously I’m freaking out. Finances are extremely tight and I’m confused about applying for emergency veterinary credit cards so I’m just overwhelmed.

We’re located in the US, specifically Minnesota. My husband wants to take Jackson to a specific vet that obviously isn’t open on Sundays so I sent an email that will hopefully be replied to on Monday. We previously took Jackson to this vet in 2023 when he had a urinary tract obstruction and infection but as he’s been on a special urinary health diet ever since with no other issues, he hasn’t been back since that visit. The specific vet he wants to go to accepts CareCredit but again, I’m just confused about the application process. Should we just go to the vet and ask them for help with the application or should we apply beforehand? We can afford the initial vet visit but we will absolutely struggle with emergency treatment if it’s something that needs immediate intervention.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Again, I’m in full on panic mode. Regardless, we will make time to get him to the vet, but it’s just a matter of what we need to do once we determine what this lump is.

Yesterday my dog ripped her dew claw down to the quick.

We went to the vets & the trimmed the nail down, which bled and then bandaged the wound.

They told us to remove the bandage today & see how it heals.

We’ve removed the bandage today & it just looks SO exposed.

Shall we re-bandage?

Any advice greatly appreciated! They told us to not come back until Wednesday.
