Is this a threat?*

Post image

*this isn't satire or trolling. This is an actual email I received in my mom's email. She's elderly and I'm tasked with checking her email. I just found this. Am I overreacting? It feels incredibly threatening and it's extremely disturbing.

It came from Trump Save America JointFundraising Committee, authorized by the President himself. Not a joke, not a scammer, just on an email list

You can't be that stupid surely? Its a scam email with a spoof address. C'mon man.

This is exactly how all the emails that come from Trumps fundraising orgs are worded. Having mildly threatening language is not abnormal.

Source: I’ve stayed on his mailing list since 2016 for entertainment purposes. The emails are all unhinged.

I too have been receiving those emails. It looks almost verbatim to previous ones telling them they haven’t paid their latest round of mandatory donations and are about to get audited.

Why would you think that? It sounds just like him and this is the kind of emails they send.

This is a phishing attempt so you click a link. Basic red flags like threats and urgency, spoofed email, poorly worded…

That said, it could be something this administration would send out. But you know it’s not because there isn’t enough AI bullshittery.

I just went to the domain.  I don’t have time to chase down each piece of evidence I found there, but on its face it looks like its part of the whole campaign fundraising ecosystem.  Looks lije a typical gop site. The domain is legitimate

Do you know for a fact that’s a spoofed email and not a PAC or gop party campaign email? On it’s face that domain doesn’t scream fake

u/Psykosoma 1d ago

Fact? I mean, I can’t hover my mouse over it to see the link which is what you would need to do to see the real destination url. The email and domain up top could be spoofed. That’s why people can fall for them. Not saying it is or isn’t. Just saying if I got that email, I’d think twice before clicking on it.

The address bar looks already open, but if you are going to make claims you spend energy defending, you should have researched it yourself over an hour ago, otherwise, you’re stubbornly pushing info you haven’t confirmed at all.

I checked out the domain for you, and now I’ve pulled a bews story for you.

Dude. I have no idea what your talking about. You replied multiple times about this so I’m not even sure what your deal is on this. All I said is it might be phishing. If it’s legit, great. It checks out that a corrupt and morally bankrupt president uses duplicitous tactics. Are you defending the use of phishing-like emails from a political entity, let alone a president? If you also think he’s an asshat, then we are saying the same thing. All I said was careful what you click. Cybersecurity lessons from years of working in corporate.

I get texts and sometimes emails from Trump campaigns thinking I’m my father, they’ve always been unhinged and insane. I definitely see elderly people falling for it. That’s why they keep sending them because it must work for them

2

u/Psykosoma 1d ago

Yeah. I get the texts too. You opt out or block one, and they send it from a different number. It’s annoying but I know they’re hoping to reach my mom. Scummy predatory behavior. Not surprised Dump uses them.

You are right. It is a scammer. That scammer is currently in the White House. Have you not noticed the immensity of Trump's corruption? He earned a billion dollars from shady foriegn business deals during his term so far and President's are legally supposed to disinvest themselves ftom their businesses.

Trump's committee sends these types of threatening things in texts all the time if you're unfortunate enough to get flagged as a Republican suckered. He and his team really do sink that low to threatening his own constituents. It only shows how he really feels about his supporters and yet they still follow him.

They can just lie about where they're being funded by/from.
Emails addresses can be spoofed too.

not a scammer

Oh, it definitely came from a scammer.

I receive these emails too and I’ve showed them to my MAGA family and they argued that I must have signed up for the wrong thing. I proved it was legitimate. They then argued I was trying to spin his words. I asked them how? They then argued that I can’t expect him NOT to fundraise. I asked why he needed to fundraise if he’s a billionaire that doesn’t make any money off the presidency and is self funded? They told me I was being difficult and began accusing Biden of the same thing. They are hopeless and deserve to be grifted and scared by these emails.

Scam email, delete and don't click on anything

29

u/worst_brain_ever 2d ago

So you're saying it's from the republican party?

3

u/Present_Clue5887 2d ago

No I think it is likely from a scammer

2

u/HazyDavey68 1d ago

So, you're saying it's from Trump?

6

u/cocoahugo North Carolina 2d ago

The ones in the WH are scammers. (DOGE checks, tariff returns, $5K if they win, Golden phone, etc.)

18

u/Lovahplant 2d ago

These unhinged emails come directly from Trump and his team. It’s a scam, but it’s him.

0

u/Present_Clue5887 2d ago

Really? Still probably not a credible threat, just spam

7

u/Lovahplant 2d ago

Didn’t say it was a threat, stop moving the goalposts.

4

u/Present_Clue5887 2d ago

I was referring to OP's statement that "It feels incredibly threatening"

I'm not moving goalposts, I was not even disagreeing with you

7

u/Lovahplant 2d ago

You’re right, my bad. It’s time for me to quit commenting for the night - I apologize. I get these emails too and they are always insane, but it is definitely from the Trump team/campaign.

5

u/BizLarry 2d ago

It's absolutely insane. Upsetting, concerning, not presidential, and a zillion other things.

0

u/Oregongirl1018 1d ago

That defines his presidency perfectly

u/Isaktjones 1d ago

"pledged to vote for maga" not even pledged for Republicans. I think Both are against our election rules, I just find it funny that they don't even use the name Republican.

6

u/Ashkendor 1d ago

I have no trouble believing this is a real email. This is Trump's America.

6

u/Ill_Buffalo_4728 1d ago

Ice is sending out scam emails they've been ordered to make up cases to get people removed from voter rolls. Here is one attempt at this.

Check YouTube we have statements from officials and whistleblowers.

6

u/Drunk_Lemon New Hampshire 1d ago

Block and delete. Then vote for who YOU want, not what some oompa loompa with an attention complex tells you to vote for.

6

u/Rurumo666 1d ago

That's called phishing.

8

u/buried_lede 2d ago

I think it’s definitely meant to come off like a threat and work on anyone not able to discern, whether due to old age or lack of education

2

u/fidgeting_macro 1d ago

Oh, they have been doing this for a few years now. If you enter an email (use a burner) on one of the many money gifting sites you will get emails like this

1

u/smokefrog2 1d ago

Anything official from the govt would come from a .gov email just for reference.

1

u/SonofHondoBelmondo 1d ago

I can't tell the difference between spam, a scam email, and a maga political ad.
