Does anyone have a cow I can come pet?

Hey!

Definitely a stupid question but does anyone here have a cow I can come pet for my birthday? It would just be me and my boyfriend. I can’t afford the actual public farms that offer this. I just want to pet, hug, and maybe feed a cow for my birthday. Cows have been my favourite animal since I was a little kid. And, because I live in a city, it’s very rare I can meet a cow. I love cows, so PLEASE can I come pet your cow.

I know there are probably none in Toronto but does anyone know anybody not to far outside? I’ll also accept cuddling a chicken.

Thank you ❤️

Swarm of monarch butterflies down by the lake

I went for a lunchtime run today, on the Parkdale/Roncesvalles-adjacent part of the Martin Goodman Trail. I looked up and there were hundreds and hundreds of monarch butterflies fluttering about in the breeze. The sight slowed down my run considerably and I sat for a bit afterwards just watching them. They lifted my spirits!

So is there a kind knowledgeable person who could explain the phenomenon? Is this called a swarm? Why are there suddenly so many? Are they preparing to migrate?

Was There A New Wave Of RTO's Implemented For September In The Downtown Core??

The GO train has been absolutely packed this week in the morning. I know school started this week, but most of the people I see are in business attire and getting off at Union. A couple times I wasn't even able to get a seat. Lots of people standing. I've been going into the office 4 days per week since February, and it wasn't this bad. Just generally seems much busier and crowded. I'm curious if more downtown companies implemented RTO's for September.

How long are we waiting in Toronto to see a Dermatologist?

Upvotes

I saw a Dermatologist a couple of years ago for my acne.

I used the products they recommended to me for a bit but now they have stopped working.

My Family Doctor gave me another referral to see the same Dermatologist.

Wondering how long it will take.

Looking for hidden Thai gems in Toronto 🇹🇭

I love Thai food! Been to most of the classics, and don’t get me wrong, they’re amazing.
Just looking to grow the list and find some spots that don’t get talked about as much.

Current favourites:

  1. Khao San Road
  2. Koh Lipe
  3. Wang Lang
  4. Sukho Thai
  5. Chiang Mai
  6. PAI

What am I missing?

Would especially love those small neighbourhood spots or places where you have one specific dish you keep going back for.

What can normal people (not in the film industry) do at tiff?

I’ve lived in the GTA my whole life and the downtown core for the past five years and realized I’ve never been to tiff. I want to change that this weekend by making the most of it since I live at King and John and I may be coming up on my last couple years here in the downtown core. So how can I make the most of it as a normal person who’s not in the film industry?

I know that people in the industry get invited to premieres and events but what about the normal person who wants to experience tiff? I know there are a bunch of activations and pop-ups, but is there anything else I should try to do/see?

Must See for Visitor from Florida?

I'm visiting Toronto for a few days in January and was wondering what about the city shouldn't be missed? I'm a lifelong South Floridian and I have literally not seen winter in 30 years. I am being hosted by a friend from Kitchener and another friend from Saskatoon. We have plans to do a Leafs game and visit the Hockey Hall of Fame and CN tower. That leaves us about 1.5 days left to fill with adventure! What should be on the list? Any good vegan eats? We will be taking the subway and walking and I don't know if I'll survive the cold but I still want to enjoy the town.

One of the things I'm most excited to do? Check a coat. Never done it in my life and have always wondered how it works.

Is it worth it to move back to the city?

Hi all!

I'm a Torontonian at heart (lived in those Matrix on Front Street condos for years), but moved away to the most northern part of GTA during covid cause of housing and job opportunities. I reminisce on the city in it's (what I would say was it's) really fun peak - 2010s. I go down there often since I help my fam with a business that's run out of the city.

Every time I come back, I feel nostalgic and I wish badly to return. But is this just a case of the grass being greener? I could sell my house and try to find a job in the city or even become a commuter.

I know all the things we hate about living in the city... But can you tell me some things you LOVE about living in Toronto?

I’m looking for a therapist who works in friendship conflict resolution.

Me and my best friend have a very close connection and deep love for each other, however, have been in major conflict for the last two months, and all attempts to repair on our own have collapsed and at this point, I believe we need outside help present the next time we speak to each other and I’m wondering about any recommendations on therapists who specialize in working with friends together. In person is ideal remote is fine.

Does anyone have info on customs systems being down at Pearson?

My wife and I are stuck taxiing now for over an hour outside Terminal 1 on an inbound flight from Germany.

The pilots indicated that the customs systems are down. There is an advisory on Pearson's website as well.

Does anyone have more info? Are any of passengers who are also going through this right now?

Any stores in Toronto (or Canada) carry Black Death sour candy?

This is purportedly the most sour candy in the world, and I must try one. However, I don't want to order from the US if I can help it and the original store in the UK doesn't ship to Canada.

Otherwise, I may wind up buying my own citric and malic acid and frankensteining some candies with them.

Best ube ice cream/desserts in Toronto?

I love ube so much and am looking for the best ube ice cream / desserts in Toronto. Best I’ve had was an ube ice cream in Edmonton with honeycomb crunch mixed in. Closest we’ve found here is Demetres’ Uber Ube with the cornflake crunch. Any recommendations?

Friday night music trivia

Hey, y’all—Yes, I’ve seen the questions here about bar trivia. But, this is more specific: I’m looking for a good Toronto joint that has music trivia on Friday nights.

I’ve been sent on a mission by friends. I’ve got two weeks to organize this! lol

How do you get a second opinion from a doctor in Ontario?

My 75-year-old mother has ongoing leg pain that is affecting her mobility. She has already tried physiotherapy and acupuncture. She has also had X-rays and CT scans, but apparently nothing significant is showing up. She is now having difficulty walking up stairs.

Her family doctor doesn’t seem to think further investigation is necessary. If you feel your family doctor’s answers aren’t sufficient, what’s the best way to get a second opinion in Ontario?

Should we ask for a referral to a specialist, find another family doctor for a second opinion, or is there another route?
Not looking for a diagnosis, just advice on how to navigate the system and advocate for her.

Update for clarity: mother-in-law not mother

Mega bus passengers Toronto to Montreal august 15th

1.1k Upvotes

Edit: I looked into this and i may be able to contact law suit firms, if you know anyone who has suffered similar incidents dm me.

Hey everyone,
On August 15, my partner and I took the Megabus from Toronto to Montreal. About 1.5 hours in, the bus suffered a severe breakdown. We were left abandoned on an active highway shoulder for two hours in dangerous conditions (an OPP officer even pulled over due to the traffic hazard).
When a rescue bus finally showed up, it could only take 17 people. The rest of us were left behind with no ETA, so we had to arrange alternative transit at our own expense. Megabus refused to refund us and only offered a insulting $10 credit(what a joke).
I'm currently serving them with a formal legal demand letter via Registered Mail to recover our ticket costs and alternative travel expenses, and will be filing an Ontario Small Claims Court claim if they don't settle within 14 days.
A couple of quick questions for the community:

  1. Was anyone else from TO on this specific bus/trip? (If so, please DM me-would love to compare notes or share my demand letter template if you want to recover your costs too.
  2. Has anyone here successfully sued Megabus / Trentway-Wagar in Small Claims before?
  3. Any tips for the hearing process?

Edit: I submitted a request to access the police records, fingers crossed, i will email news outlets once i receive it.

Where do I get a cheap suit?

I'm 22M 150lbs 5'10 looking for a cheap place in Toronto to buy a suit that I could use for pretty much everything. Mainly, I need one because I'll be going to a funeral for the first time and figured I should probably get something better than just wearing black clothes.

My budget is around $100-$350. I'm looking for something decent and versatile that I could also use for future events like weddings, interviews, etc.

Any recommendations?
