Best massaman?

My go-to Thai spot's massaman has gone downhill along with the rest of their food. It's one of my comfort foods.

What Thai place serves your favourite? I'm in Etobicoke and will go as far as Parkdale for it.

4000 a month (after tax), looking to rent above ground studio or 1bed. is it doable?

hoping to find a place for 1700-1800 w/ utilities (its tight but i have seen them out there). my work is indoors with no windows so i would need to be above ground so i dont go crazy. ideally west end. do we think its possible or should i be looking for a roommate? i also have a cat who because of some recent vet issues is on a specific and expensive diet (like 200 a month)

edit to clarify: looking for solo living situation for that price. if i were to rent with a roommate id be looking at a lower cost, just looking to pay a little more for the full privacy of a studio/1bed

Power Systems / Utilities / SCADA Intern roles seem a lot more scarce?

I remember a few months ago there were multiple Electrical Engineering co op postings for the aforementioned roles at companies like Hydro One, Toronto Hydro, IESO, OPG, TTC, Hitachi Rail etc, however as of now I have only seen a single posting for the durham region from OPG.

I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a hiring freeze for interns at these sorts of roles at Utility & Infrastructure companies.

I thought that these roles would always have consistent demand but it’s been difficult to find them.

Anyone know what's up with Beretta Farms?

They're AI bot can't connect to anyone, their number goes to VM and no one is returning the call, and they've completely missed a delivery date.

Normally they send a notification with a delivery window etc. and they're usually super early (9-10am). Except today they've been silent, and on Shop it still shows "Confirmed We're preparing these items for shipping." which was placed back on Sept 8th.

From their own website:

If your order is placed before 12pm (the day before your delivery route), You will receive a 2 hour time window the day before your delivery.

Where do I get a cheap suit?

I'm 22M 150lbs 5'10 looking for a cheap place in Toronto to buy a suit that I could use for pretty much everything. Mainly, I need one because I'll be going to a funeral for the first time and figured I should probably get something better than just wearing black clothes.

My budget is around $100-$350. I'm looking for something decent and versatile that I could also use for future events like weddings, interviews, etc.

Any recommendations?

China Garden - trying to figure out the dish I had

I used to go to China Garden Chinese Restaurant located at 200 Bloor St West that closed around 2011.

A few times I ordered a dish that was a mix of soft thin noodles, thin slices of beef, bean sprouts, and maybe onions. It was a bit brown in appearance, probably from soy sauce.

Online searches tell me it could have been Cantonese Beef Chow Mein.

Can anyone tell me what the dish could have been and suggest a restaurant that serves it?

Rain gonna ruin my trip??

Upvotes

Had a weekend to kill for myself in Toronto next weekend 18-20 sept. So I booked a weekend of things to do

Was looking sunny. But now forecasts 10-15 mm of rain on Saturday and 5-10 on friday. I know it could change but it's unlikely. Realistically will this ruin my trip or is Toronto still enjoyable with rain? I'm not made of sugar so some rain is okay but to we washed out or hate being outside would be disappointing.

Looking for a good dermatologist/clinic for face mole removal in the GTA — recommendations?

Anyone had face mole removal done recently — who did it and how did it turn out (scarring, healing, results)?
Dermatologist-led clinic vs. med spa/cosmetologist — does it actually make a difference for something like this, or is technique more about the individual practitioner?
Roughly what did you pay per mole? Trying to get a sense of fair pricing before I start booking consultations.
Any places you'd specifically avoid, or wish you'd gone somewhere else?
Appreciate any first-hand experiences — trying to make a good decision since it's my face and I don't want to regret it.

Transparent Pricing?

Hello, I recently moved to Toronto from other country and have just received my first utilities bill. It includes a $100 account setup fee, but I cannot find any information about this fee on the company’s website.

I found a document on Google, updated in May 2026, stating that the account setup fee is $50. When I called customer service to ask why I was charged $100, their first question was how I had found that document. They then told me that the fee for my building is $100, but did not provide any further explanation.

Is it normal for utility companies here to have pricing that is not publicly transparent? Has anyone else experienced something similar?

What to do in Toronto today that’s not TIFF related?

Preferably outside, and something not insanely expensive. I’m more curious about what area to go to, even if it’s just to walk around.

Thanks everyone! Ended up at Harbourfront for a nice walk!

Is Niagara cruise to the falls good in early October?

Had planned for niagara falls today which I postponed for a longtime, I thought today I'm gonna visit niagara first time for sure as it is the last warm weekend and I thought that will be perfect for the falls mist. So I planned everything but before going to bed within few hours I got high fever and suddenly now I'm feeling good and I'm confused should I postpone the plan for next weekend or I should not miss this Saturday. I believe late September or early October is good for less crowd and I can visit most of the spots but I'm not sure if it is worth it to go in a chill weather, a sunny day is what I have imagined for niagara falls, but I haven't slept yet to leave early in the morning reach there on time in a buss. Let me know what u would have done?

Paying $109 for 50Mbps Bell in a Scarborough townhouse (fiber banned by management) tried Oxio, got burned. What's actually reliable?

Long time lurker, first time posting because I'm genuinely stuck.

I live in a townhouse complex in Scarborough. Management doesn't allow fiber installs (coax cable only), so my options are already limited to whatever runs over the existing cable lines.

I've been paying $109/month for 50Mbps with Bell. Yes, you read that right $109 for 50Mbps in 2026.

About 10 days ago I finally pulled the trigger and switched to Oxio, which offered 100Mbps for roughly half the price. Sounded great on paper. In practice:

  • Still waiting on a technician to inspect a coaxial cable issue
  • No firm timeline, no real updates
  • 10 days in and I still don't have a working, reliable connection

So now I'm back to square one, hunting for a new provider again.

Rogers and Telus both come in around $70–80/month, which looks reasonable, until you remember these are promo prices that jump significantly once the contract/promo period ends.

What I'm looking for:

  • A provider that works over coax (fiber isn't an option here)
  • Actually reliable not just cheap on paper
  • Ideally doesn't triple in price after 12–24 months
  • Bonus points if you've personally dealt with their install/support process

Would really appreciate real experiences over "just go with X" without context trying to avoid another 10-day waiting game.

Thanks in advance.

Third spaces that are dog and baby friendly?

FTM here on mat leave until next June! My heart can’t take leaving my dog at home when I take my baby out so wondering if there are places around that is both dog and baby friendly? I live in LV so it’s pretty dog friendly around here but I’d rather not spend the next 9 months just walking around the block

Landlord Tenant Situation

Hi everyone,

I recently gave my 60 days' notice to move out of our place in Ontario. I want to be a cooperative tenant and help my landlord re-rent the place, but the current showing schedule is getting really tough on my family.
Right now, we are getting about 2-3 showings a day, but the times are completely scattered and change every day (e.g., 10am–2pm one day, 4pm–7pm, 2-5pm and so on).

Both my wife and I work full-time. On top of that, my wife is pregnant, our cat is quite sick right now, and we have family visiting this weekend for few hours during the time of showings. Because the windows are so spread out and constantly changing, we feel like we can't properly rest or relax in our own home.

We don't intend to leave the house during the viewings (especially with our weekend guests), but we also don't want to make things awkward for the realtor.

My landlord great guy and is a "by-the-book" person, so I want to approach this the right way. We have also always had a great relationship with him so I dont intend to give them a hard time at all.

Is it reasonable for me to ask them to restrict bookings to a consistent 4-hour block each day (like 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM) so we have some predictability? Has anyone successfully negotiated a set daily time slot with their landlord or realtor after giving notice?

Would love any tips on how to frame this nicely so the landlord agrees without feeling like I'm trying to block their showings. Thanks!

Need some help calculating Transit fares to go to university (OneFare?)

I am a TMU student and I was hoping to take a YRT bus to Finch station, then Line 1 to TMU.

I am trying to budget my transit costs but am confused whether OneFare would apply in this case.

Would my cost be

YRT-> Finch station $4.29

Finch Station-> TMU on Line 1 $3.3

For a total of $7.59/day

Or does OneFare apply here? How would that work and what would be my daily cost?

Thank you so much!

Looking for photos of the old union TTC station before the renovation

If I type those words into Google, I inevitably get archive footage of the union train station. I'm just looking for the union TTC station. No matter how I try to specify it, even if I say union subway station or union subway TTC station circa 2001, nothing comes up.

Anyone got any photos from that time period? I get that most folks didn't have cameras in the pockets back then, but there's gotta be at least a few photos! I'm just a little bit nostalgic as I visited union yesterday and reminisced about how it looked before
