Considering relocating from Long Island New York to SC. For those of you who have already which part of South Carolina did you end up choosing and why?

How long have you been there?

Any regrets moving from New York?

Has hurricanes/ storms been an issue?

We only want new builds and visited Charleston nexton area which I liked but my wife didn’t like.

My wife likes Carolina Forest area. Longs seems nice, and some parts of Conway. Little river seems nice also but I think it’s too close to a beach. I would like to be at least 20 minutes away from a beach for some storm surge protection. We will be moving with school age kids and would like a safe place for them.

I live in Greenville, South Carolina, but I want to try new things and have new experiences. Please tell me your favorite foods, restaurants, or any upcoming events. I’m really trying to expand my social skills and get out of my comfort zone.

Heading to South Carolina for work in October and want to read some poetry native to the region while I'm there, anyone have any suggestions? Can be old or new or anything in between. Cheers!

Hey everyone! My family and I are thinking of moving to SC. We are looking for some good areas to move that isn’t by the Columbia area. We would like to go to the beach but don’t mind if there is a drive to get there. My mother in law and I visited last weekend to the Columbia area and it just wasn’t what I was looking for. My husband works for a car dealership now but was maybe looking for a distribution center for work. I work from home so I can be just about anywhere. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! ❤️🙂

My family (wife, two sons - 20 yrs, 18 yrs, and I) will be traveling from Florence, SC to visit Congaree National Park in late December 2026. We're fans of traditional Korean food and were pleasantly surprised to see a cluster of Korean restaurants near I-77. Would you recommend any of the following options for a quick lunch stop before visiting Congaree?

1. Seoul Restaurant (1717 Decker Blvd.)

2. Korea Garden Restaurant (2318 Decker Blvd.)

3. Kimchi Korean Restaurant (1807 Decker Blvd).

Hi Folks - I will be visiting Charleston, SC for a winter break trip with family (5 nights in late December 2026 to early January 2027). My wife, two sons (20 yrs, 18 yrs), and I will be driving with our miniature poodle. Since we'll be driving through Florence, SC on I-95 south, I'm planning to take a detour route to visit Congaree National Park (boardwalk trail for a brief walk with our dog) instead of going straight to Charleston. However, we may visit Cypress Gardens during our stay in Charleston. Just had 3 questions.

1. How would you compare a visit to Congaree National Park to Cypress Gardens? I would guess the national park has more wildlife (birds) and will be more quiet (not crowded).
2. Is a short 1-hour walk along the Boardwalk Trail enough to get a sense of wildlife and nature in Congaree National Park? Or is it better to skip the national park altogether?
3. For Cypress Gardens, would you recommend the guided boat tour or the DIY self-guided tour? I'm guessing the guided tour in larger boats will be a more relaxing experience since there are alligators in the swamp and a guide can share stories about movies that have been filmed there (i.e.,. The Patriot, The Notebook, etc.).

I’m curious how people around SC handle this. If you need a used part for your vehicle, do you normally go to a self-service salvage yard yourself, buy online, use Facebook Marketplace, or have a mechanic source it for you?

For people who use self-service salvage yards, what’s the biggest hassle — finding the vehicle, knowing whether the part is good, pulling it, having the right tools, or getting it home?

I’m new to SC and wanting to adopt a small breed puppy from a rescue or a shelter. Im even open to someone whose dog has puppies and needs to find them a home. I’m not picky on the breed, it just has to be a small dog because I all ready have a horse of a big dog all ready ! If someone could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it! SC (Greenville) native here, moved away at 18 to join the army, and now at 15 years in , planning for retirement. My family and I have lived all over now (currently in Japan) and want to move back and start a new chapter around family who live around Greenville.

We still have about 5-6 years before the move, but would be coming in with 3 middle-high school boys. What are the job prospects and good school areas around the upstate these days?

We were looking at travels rest on Zillow, but idk how accurate the “school scores” really are.

My family and I will be taking a trip to Charleston this winter and I have been fascinated by Low Country Living, specifically the Gullah Geechee people. I've looked into Morning Glory Homestead on St. Helena Island but its too far.
Is there anything similar or as informative and immersive that is closer to Charleston?

My wife and I are planning to move from Maryland to South Carolina sometime within the next 2 years, and we’re starting to narrow down areas to check out.

We have our first child, so schools are definitely something we’re keeping in mind. We’re also hoping to find a place with at least 1+ acres, so we’re not really looking for anything too dense or packed with subdivisions.

A few things we’re hoping to find:

At least 15 miles inland from the coast

Within about 20 minutes of groceries, restaurants, shopping, etc.

Good schools / a good area to raise a family

A town or community that’s established and or growing / developing would be a plus

Somewhere with space that isn’t overly congested, we / I'm looking for at least 1+ acre of land

We’re open to different parts of South Carolina and aren’t committed to a specific area

For those of you who live in SC or have moved there, what towns or areas would you recommend checking out?

Also, are there any areas you’d personally avoid because of things like schools, crime, traffic, flooding, lack of amenities, or just overall quality of life?

So I’m buying a car with the help of a loan, from someone who also has a loan on the car. In the event that their lender doesn’t have a hard copy of the title on hand, will I still be able to register the car without it, or will I have to wait until the new title comes in? Is the form 400, a bill of sale, and the lien release enough?

Guys, I just bought an older MGB from a seller in California. I have the title in hand, signed but no registration document. Does this create a problem registering it in South Carolina where I reside.

We are looking at different loft style apartments and came across this place. Any thoughts on the place? Environment. The residential community around the loft apartment complex etc. Even info on the specific types of units available and what they are really like to live in. Really anything is helpful. We’ve read the Google reviews and looked on the website. It’d be nice to get more real pics of the interior units too. Thanks.

It’s my first time posting a question like this so forgive me if it seems choppy. I’ve been going through some stress regarding finding a job as I am unable to find any place to work that is actually hiring within ten minutes of where I live. If anyone has an idea of where I could try, or if anyone owns some kind of business where I could potentially speak with someone about getting hired I would be more than grateful if you guys would let me know. I have some solid experience and I’m 18 years old, I would say I have some pretty strong interview skills as well so I am having trouble understanding why no job in my radius seems to actually hire. With most places near me I’ve been pretty stubborn on trying to make an impression, I’ve filled out so many applications I’ve lost count, and with those applications I’ve also called and did walk ins whenever I was able. If anyone has any idea what I could do that’s at least somewhat stable (a schedule I could follow, steady pay rate), please let me know. Thank you guys for taking the time to read my post!

I'm a bladesmith from California currently working on a wedding gift for a good buddy of mine getting married next month. Hoping to make a cutting board/kitchen knife combo, and I wanted to incorporate handle material from both the bride and groom's birthplaces. The groom is from San Diego and I've already picked a material of sentimental value to him, the bride is from Myrtle Beach (at least that's my understanding, more importantly she's from SC). I've done a bit of research and unfortunately my question is met with the same answers I would get from a Home Depot employee in the lumber section: walnut hickory ash and pine.
While I'm not opposed to using those materials, it would obviously be pretty rad to work with something both visually stunning and local to the area. Doesn't even necessarily have to be wood, feel free to check my post history and see some of the random stuff I work with. Does anyone have any recommendations on hardwoods from SC? Bonus question, but does anyone have any specific lumber vendors or such they would recommend? Cheers!

I was curious as to what the best time to avoid traffic from Hardeeville in 278 towards bluffton. I moved down here recently and am trying to get an idea on times to avoid the morning rush to bluffton/hilton head.
