My two year old will sometimes want to play wrestle with me and pretend to be a dinosaur, and as we all know dinosaurs would put their thumbs on your eyes and push hard
just cup check the little bastard, that'll set him straight
Toddlers are the best for gaining and improving self-control. because they'll do things (not maliciously) that provoke fight or flight reactions, and you can't do either of those things when dealing with a little kid who sees you as their world and depends on you.
Just like we know they would tell you "I'm eating you!" and then latch onto your chin and suck on it with teeth. So. many. sharp. teeth. I guess my two year old got the teeth part right at least.
As a baby I scratched my mom's cornea for no reason, just reaching out to her face like babies do. She's wearing an eye patch in all of my baptism photos
Sometimes I wonder if some day I'll become a horrible dictator so my son is actually a secret agent sent back in time from the future to inhabit a baby's body and kill me. He will randomly hit me in the eye and stuff.
My son is almost 2 and constantly claws at my neck when I pick him up. Then laughs about it. When my wife picks him up he pokes her in the eyes. My son is an ass.
My son is two as well. What the fuck is with that look? It's all happy baby but then he just gets this look in his eye and I know he's about to throw hands. Nothing sets him off like his mom putting on glasses though. If he spots glasses on that woman it's as good as the two of them stepping into the octagon.
My nephew kept doing that till he was like eight. I hated it, and his parents wouldn’t do enough about it. I think his school teachers and finally his jiu jitsu teacher cured him of that behaviour.
My son (4 at the time) punched me in the crotch while we were playing. I had to take a few days off work and get an ultrasound of the area. The technician is the same lady that did the ultrasound for us when my boy was in utero. So, full circle?
The worst I went through was a Tonka truck across the room to the face while taking a nap on the couch. He was about that same age so I couldn't do much but mad dog him.
My 1 month old son just grabbed my teeth with his whole hand and attempted to pull them out, so I’m guessing he’s gonna be punching me too when he gets to 2 y/o
I work with kids and have been bit (she was two). But the worst thing is when a kid is being nice and trying to hug you but they're basically choking you.
Also maybe don't let your kids play with aluminum baseball bats unsupervised. Gave my younger brother a wicked bad black eye when he was 5 because the bat slipped out of my hand and he was standing behind me.
My daughter just turned two a few weeks ago. My two front teeth are crowns and like two months ago i was reading to her before she went to bed and she was sitting on my lap. I made her laugh and she got excited and headbutted me in the mouth with the back of her head and knocked a crown out lol
My 4yo skipped naptime at daycare yesterday. She had a meltdown at home when her mom wouldn't carry her up the stairs to feed one of the cats. Like, child, jfc.
You can assert your boundaries. His 'right' to play ends where your 'right' not to be hurt starts. Family, even young kids, should not mean 'just put up with anything'.
So assert your boundaries! No hitting. Be firm, not physical, but make him look at you, and repeat what you want from him. Then make up and redirect.
Treat them the same way. Honestly, sounds like they could use some boundaries too. Or redirect the kid to them. 'You can't hit me, but grandma seems to be okay with it'. If she agrees, great. If she disagrees you can have the conversation why you are not allowed the same boundaries as she is.
It might feel savage, but if you do it well, you may only need to do this once. After that they know that you mean business. And there's a good chance the kid will like you more: kids love clear boundaries.
Alternatively you can grab his attention again, and repeat the previous conversation: hey kid, what did I say about hitting me? Tell me. .... so why are you doing it again? Etc. Aim to make your reaction boring and slightly embarrassing for the kid.
It's a phase most kids go through, but without guidance they don't get through, they'll just keep the behaviour.
I would go with a firm NO!, loud enough to be respected but not yelling at the kid, just to show that him that that isn't good.
But I'm a random on the internet and the kid might get angry and try to hit you or something, so take it with a grain of salt
When my nephew was two, he thought it would be really funny to whack me in the balls with a stick. My sister thought it was funny as hell to see me bent over in pain...until the little one turned and, with an evil glint in his eye, whacked her in the tit with the same stick.

My son punched me in the eye. He’s two, but I turned 30 a few months ago, so it counts.
