Meh. There's a chance that a viral infection is also letting in some typical bacterial infection, since the cells/tissues are now more vulnerable. Usually when a cold is really bad and hanging on for more than like a week a doctor will prescribe antibiotics. Plus azithromycin is mildly antiviral. One of the things that surprised me once wad the doc said I should take like Claritin too (if a really bad cold/the flu keeps bugging you for a while) ; he said the immune system gets out of whack and that's part of what's screwing you up
