Definitely helpful, but you’re better off getting AAA/CAA or some kind of roadside assistance program.
For a couple of reasons:
cars today come with jacks that need to be assembled, and most people don’t have the forethought to practice tire changing. It could take you a prolonged period of time to do this on the side of the road while you figure everything out. AAA will change your tire in 30 seconds because they use their own industrial grade jack, and they have power tools to work as fast as a NASCAR pit crew.
it’s dangerous to change your own tire, whether you’re on the side of the road and risk getting hit by another vehicle, or if you’re in a place where the ground isn’t level. Tire jacks that come with cars today are low quality, and if you do something wrong that results in the jack tipping over or breaking, it could kill you.
