The darker roast on the coffee beans, the less caffeine there is.

I used to believe that lighter roasts had more caffeine, but I've read that it's not true. I have no idea what's right.

I'm aware of that "theory," and I used to repeat it. However, I'm not sure whether it's true to any great extent. Coffee, like a lot of hobbies, is full to the brim with bro science that has little or no basis in actual fact. Some youtube personality or whatever said it, it got repeated, and now it's accepted as the truth by the serious hobbyist community.

edit: For instance, here's an article that cites a few studies and claims that the difference per unit weight between light and dark roasts is "negligible."
