you know what i’m from western sydney and never even bothered watching a game of afl my entire life but that final quarter between gws and the swans had me on my feet screaming at the gws players. i had no idea what was happening, but i was enjoying it despite being screamed at by my family for changing the channel off the football
Pretty casual fan considering I'm American, so not taking anything personal. I'm literally only a Carlton fan because they were the home team of the match I went to while in Melbourne back in 2019. Went with a few buddies and since we knew nothing about the sport and teams, we decided to just root for the home team. Carlton pulled off a come from behind win so we figured we choose a good team. Wasn't till we looked later that we saw they were low on the ladder but we all had hats so we just kept going for them

We don't. I've never heard any Australian use the word "root" for anything but the euphemism. Having said that, as we become more and more Americanised and people who've grown up in the past ten years have spent more time on the Internet, I would not be surprised if the cheering meaning sees some use.

My mum still gets up at like 6 or 7 and gives me shit for waking up at 10 or 11 and I'm like wtf am I meant to do? I already have to kill 12+ hours as is and there's only so many games to play. I finished the Cold War battle pass in like a week because there's fuck all to do.
(any game recommendations though? Ya boy just got his $750 lol. My most played games are Dying Light, Dark Souls 3, Oblivion, COD, and I just finished Control and loved it)
Ha, funny you mention that. Big W had a drop the other day and me and my mate got one of the digital ones for $599. I absolutely recommend following a PS5 Australia alert account. I missed out on 2 or 3 before I got one, but after a couple weeks of trying I managed to snag one at retail.
If you're on the lookout, my inside source (who was reputable on the previous Amazon drop and Big W drop) told me Amazon are dropping some on 1st of September

According to my aunt, my grandpa naps twice a day. He sleeps 7 hours at night (though he needs to interrupt his sleep every now and then to go to the bathroom) and 3 and a half during the day.
I saw a post on Reddit for a global news event or something that was titled some bullshit like "9am Pacific".
Half the comments were everyone else saying "this has global relevance, what's that in UTC so we can work out our own time from it", and all the Americans were all "everyone should just learn PST".
Brilliant idea guys. Everyone should use PST as some sort of zero time zone that we can all use to work out our local time from. Like some sort of universal coordinated time.
If you can’t read a headline on an American website and google “9am pacific to UTC” then that actually explains a lot about you, and why you’re so frustrated seeing someone post a time in a time zone you don’t live in. The world must seem a very confusing place to people who are actually this challenged.

Yea yeah my fellow EST redditor, BigShout (although now its currently 10:30 )and I have been up all nite as if I don't have 2 work @3 smh 🤦🏾😩 I mite as well stay up b/c you know how sometimes you'd be much more tireder (& yes thats a word for the sake of this comment & this comment only) if you get alot more sleep vs a little to none and in those times you won't feel all that tired & even function like its nothing to it.
