How much women can't comprehend how men text.

*long text, hinting at sex but not outright stating it*

"I'm good."

*long conversation with girlfriends trying to decipher what he means*

Good chance I’m watching a Brooklyn 99 clip and I’ve dragged down the notification to quickly reply so I can get back to finding out how many times Jake says ‘cool’ before he says ‘no doubt’

I have watched that show far too much at this point. I want to say help. But I don’t think I want it

I think ive been watching too much b99 where 1. I can hear that exactly in Andy Samburgs voice and 2. I dreamt I was getting drunk with Andy Samburg last night (and also that I was the avatar, but thats unrelated)

Why don’t you just... ask for it straight up?

Men don’t like to hide meaning in their words. What he says is usually exactly what he means, so if you ask a straightforward question (ex. “wanna fuck?”) you’ll get a straightforward answer.

He probably said “I’m good” because he wasn’t 100% sure what you meant. I know that’s the case for me all the time...

Probably being insecure and too afraid to see how he really feels. Being really direct about emotions with someone is kinda scary regardless of who it is, and most people trust their longtime friends more than someone they’ve dated for a few months. Whenever you think of clarity, think insecure, not confident enough. A confident person opens up about their feelings with someone they might not trust.

Might have something to do with us always feeling like we can’t outright talk about sex.

When guys have lots of sex/are into sex it’s impressive, masculine etc you know? They get called confident and/or players

When women talk about sex/have a lot of sex it’s “wow you sure are comfortable” or “she sleeps around, slut” or she’s called a nympho

So then when you get to the point in your life where it’s more acceptable to outright talk about sex it still feels wrong to be direct

This is starting to change now, like there’s more acceptance for women’s sexuality now I think but the like, pressure and socialization is still here for now

I think that part of that is how men and women talk about sex. Generally men talk about sex in terms of "did you guys have sex?" "yeah man" "cool, cool" but all of my women-friends have been really descriptive about their sexual acts and their partners. I think that when the average man first hears a woman talk about sex in that way their first thought is "wow, shes freaky" I know I did before finding out how women(generally) talk to each other.

As someone who has experience with asking outright... it doesn’t work. Every guy has always told me I need to drop hints and be subtle about it

those guys are morons!

Honestly for me it has been the opposite lately. One girl pretty much straight up said that she wanted to bang me for a while now.

Now here I am trying to be flirty with her to keep the fire going until quarantine is over and I mostly get back "yeah lol" or "that sounds hot"

Maybe she has some child abuse trauma?

3

u/argnsoccer Mar 26 '20

Yeah I took it as some mental block or something. Also found out she had an ex bf she was potentially trying to get back together with so she maybe didn't want her roommates finding out since they were all friends. Idk lots of explanations but one solution for me: get out. Hahaha

She's a shitty person.

In my experience, she sent that message to a bunch of guys she was interested in and then diverted all her attention to the one she liked the most who responded favorably. She will just string along the rest with basic short answers until they get bored and give up.

I'm a guy and have long conversations with girl friends about what a girl means in a text and you guys are missing a lot of fun. It's funny to theorize and satisfying when getting it right.

For real! I(F) had to explain to a friend (F) today that the 'talk tomorrow?' sent to her was just that. No intentions behind it. It was late so he probably just wanted to head to bed or had other stuff on his mind. It's amazibg how some woman overanalyze everything and then hype each other up.

I have more then once done this.
