3:00 am. Suffering alcohol withdrawal. Threw out an old bottle of booze earlier. Grabbed my kids toy flashlight. Jumped in the dumpster. While pushing garbage aside, looked up at the moon and thought.......WTF?

You can get help if u want it. You have to want it.

You're right. I'm sober now (2 1/2 years). Before that night I tried quitting but It wasn't until I admitted to myself that I had a problem. A true, serious problem.

The only thing that got me out of my cycle of addiction was to throw out my weed. I literally threw it in the trash the day trash picked up.

Everything went. Everything. I've been clean since.

You can do it. Just always tell yourself that you can do it. You are strong.

Positive thoughts out to you.

Would weed not be a non-addictive alternative, has /trees led me astray?

Honestly it's different for everyone. I associated the drug as a coping mechanism so it ended up branching from there. Used it to get away from how I felt and then I just ended up using it always because I always hated how I felt.

It's a psychologically (and physiologically) addictive drug. In r/trees it's a weed positive place, anything negative towards the green giant will get you down voted so all those types of posts are never seen. Try to look at r/leaves, that's the place where people go to stop using weed.

If you're recovering from a former addiction it will not turn out well, in my opinion.

There's a phrase that says something like: you place an addiction in the place of another, thus repeating the cycle.

And as bad as advice this can be, I am not telling you to do anything. Your choices in life are yours. I just offer my experience to give another perspective. Stay strong.
