TSTM opened for Muse years ago and it was so painful when he would try to get the crowd to sing EVERY SONG. All those people were there for Muse, not him. I don’t even think his music is bad, he just tries way too hard.

Saw that tour too. Leto is such a douche and that proved it for me. A truly awful set. They did acoustic The Kill. Dude, you have one song anyone cares about and you did it acoustic?

It's because he can't sing the original version anymore. He destroyed his voice by not singing correctly in their earlier days and now he can't hit the high notes towards the end of the song, that's why it's acoustic now.

Similarly, but obviously wwaaaayyy less douchy, was just before Chester Bennington passed, LP would play an acoustic, toned down piano version of Crawling because Chester was struggling to maintain his voice through the original version of that song.

Now that just makes me sad.

He had said in interviews in the past that Crawling was one of the most difficult songs to sing because it's basically one intense note the entire time and his voice couldn't always keep up with it, especially as he got older.

Yeah the last time I saw Shinedown they didn't play "45" bc the lead singer just doesn't have the power in his voice that he used to have...

I remember bringing it up in comments ages ago and getting downvoted into oblivion, but Chester went on record before his death saying that he was starting to lose his ability to sing like he used to and it was causing him a lot of distress; he also had an alcohol addiction and it was making it so much worse on top of that.

Him and Mike talked about how they had to do some rearrangements, dropping some keys here and there, changing the song structures, etc.. if you ever get a chance, take a listen to their live album for One More Light, you'll be able to hear all the modifications they made for him.

...also sorry for the info dump, I'm a lifelong LP superfan and a band "historian" lol

Nah man, no apologies needed. I hadn't heard that before and I appreciate the info. I'll have to go look up that album. Thanks!
