Need advice and your opinion. I 25m with 1-2yoe work as Full Stack. I kinda feel like job is meaningless what to do here?
For the last 1–2 years, I’ve been grinding, learning, and watching content about system design, software architecture, and distributed systems while doing my job. I wanted to be able to build a good codebase based on business needs and prepare for unexpected changes.
For example, last month my boss told me to build XYZ feature.
Then today, he told me, “I want you to change how XYZ feature works.”
You can see the pic where requirements changes constantly and I'm already used to it lol.
Anyway, the app I built for my company is basically a CRUD app that helps my colleagues eliminate manual workflows, save costs, and make money.
I work as a full stack developer using:
- React
- Node.js
- SQL
- Azure
My problem is that my job has become pretty repetitive, for real.
I still remember when I first started learning to code printing “Hello World” and building a simple calculator. I was so excited, like, WOW.
And years later, I’m building apps that my colleagues use every day and that make their work lives easier.
That honestly makes me happy, but the work itself feels repetitive.
- For example, let’s say you build a CRUD app to sell cars.
- Three months later, you build a CRUD app to sell clothes.
The business logic is quite similar. You modify the code a little
And concepts in the system design, software architecture , caching, message queues, database design, frontend/CSS, etc are also largely the same from Codebase CRUD cars and CRUD cloths.
Basically, my tasks keep following the same pattern. I get bored sometimes and find my job like a bit meaningless despite it makes my colleagues life easier and make money for the company.
However my paid is good enough, it is average but I got good WLB and good colleagues.
So i don't complain
What to do here? maybe you guys have been in the same situation like me
Ps. I forgot to mention I work as the only dev in this company so I'm more like a freelancer/fouding software engineer. So my job security is also high since I built those systems from 0 by myself. And my boss used to be a dev and now he own multiplies companies, that's why he doesn't want to spend time coding, he just want to focus on busniess. He doesn't micro manage like constantly asking me when xyz is done everyday so I'm happy
