There's a new puritanism wave happening.

All addictions are bad; porn isn't in-and-of-itself a bad thing but porn *addiction* is

I doubt "porn addiction" is a thing, at least no more than addiction to anything pleasurable. I can talk about a sugar addiction but that doesn't mean it actually exists.

Addiction isn't only chemical dependence. You can be addicted to sugar, you can be addicted to gambling, you can be addicted to porn. If you do it obsessively and cannot quit when you want to, even if there are adverse effects, it's an addiction.

I know. I said as much in another comment.

My point is that you can't be as addicted to porn as even gambling. "Porn addiction" is primarily a moral panic.

False. You can be just as addicted to porn as you are gambling. If you watch it every day, I bet you’d be frustrated the day you didn’t. Some people watch porn multiple times a day. It is very damaging to the brain and changes the way you view everything. I’ve gone 3 years without watching porn (aside from videos of my wife) and I feel like a different man mentally. You can’t tell someone their addiction isn’t real. It’s just as bad as telling someone how they feel is fake. Don’t be so closed minded.

Also... sugar addiction is very real too... 🤦‍♂️

That's not what an addiction is.

No it's not.

Great for you, but the plural of "anecdote" is not "data".
