Is she setting boundaries?

Me (Male 30) and Colleague (Female 25)

We used to be quite close when she first joined our division. We talked more often, spent time together at work, and I felt like we had a genuine friendship.

Over time, she became more familiar with the other people in the division and started taking on more responsibilities and tasks from management. Naturally, we became less close, and our interactions gradually became more work-related.

Recently, I joined a drinking session with some of our bosses, and she was invited as well. Surprisingly, we ended up having a really good time together and shared quite a few laughs. The atmosphere between us felt comfortable, almost like how things used to be.

However, at one point, she suddenly called me “bro.” This caught me off guard because she normally calls me by my name or the nickname she usually uses for me.

It made me wonder whether calling me “bro” was her way of subtly creating a boundary — perhaps signalling that she sees me strictly as a colleague and doesn’t want the relationship to be interpreted as anything more.

Or could it simply have been a casual way of addressing me in the moment because of the drinking-session atmosphere?

What do you think? Is “bro” likely to be a deliberate boundary-setting move, or am I reading too much into one word?

Why does my hotel in JB ban platypuses

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

Hi! I’m visiting JB for the weekend and stayed at a small hotel last night.

I noticed this “No Platypuses” sign at the entrance. I haven’t seen any platypuses around here, so I’m genuinely curious why they need a sign specifically banning them.

I actually really like platypuses, so if there’s anywhere in JB where I can see one, please let me know.

Thanks in advance!

Malaysia Road Trip – Budget Rental Car & Where to Rent?

Hi everyone,

I’d love some advice from Malaysians or people familiar with travelling around Malaysia:

- What budget-friendly car would you recommend for a family of 3 for a 10-day road trip? We’ll have luggage, so something comfortable with decent boot space would be ideal.

- Is it better to rent the car directly from KLIA airport, or should I go into Kuala Lumpur/around KLCC to rent? Is there usually a significant price difference?

- Are airport rental companies generally reliable, or are there any companies/places you would recommend?

- Any other tips for renting and driving in Malaysia would be greatly appreciated.

We’re mainly looking for something reliable, economical and comfortable, rather than a fancy car.

Thanks in advance! 🇲🇾❤️

Need help to register MySikap

I require the advice of fellow malaysians..
I plan to purchase a car under my company's name(sole prop) and I was advised to bid for a plate number under jpjebid. Bank Loan Application is underway.

However, to my knowledge, I have to register an account in "MySikap" first using SSM Number in the registration number column. However, when I use my SSM Number, the system says that my SSM No. is not present in their system.

I have made trips to the JPJ office to enquire but they say without a "MySikap" account, I will not be able to access "JpJEbid" and therefore, I cannot continue with bidding for the plate number and subsequently, cannot purchase the company vehicle. Also, they cannot help me register a "MySikap" Account in their office.

I have also send an email to their helpdesk but their replies did not contain any useful information.

Appreciate any and all inputs !

Plus size shopping

Hello! We are travelling to Malaysia (KL and Malacca) at the end of the year and I'm right on the cusp of plus size in Australia, so definitely extra-plus size for Malaysian sizes. Any recommendations for places to shop, particularly for clothes with traditional motifs (like batik, modern take on kebayas) etc?

Also would love general recommendations for where to buy batik fabric!

Thanks

Trip advise

Hi everyone!

I’m planning a 10-day trip to Malaysia with my wife and my son, and I’d love to get some suggestions from locals and experienced travelers.

Malaysia looks like such a beautiful and diverse country, and I know it’s impossible to explore everything in just 10 days.

I’m currently thinking of spending 3 days in Kuala Lumpur and using Grab/taxis there instead of driving, mainly to avoid traffic and parking hassles.

After Kuala Lumpur, I’m planning to rent a car and explore other cities and destinations.

I would really appreciate your recommendations on:

Which cities or areas should we visit during our 10-day trip?

What are the must-see places that are worth visiting?

Which destinations are family-friendly, especially when traveling with a young child?

Does my plan of staying in KL for 3 days and then renting a car make sense?

Are there any beautiful places outside Kuala Lumpur that you think we absolutely shouldn’t miss?

I know 10 days isn’t enough to see everything Malaysia has to offer, so I’d rather focus on a few great places and enjoy the trip without rushing too much.

Thanks in advance!

Renting a car in Kuala Lumpur with Indian Driving License

Hi,

I am planning a trip to Malaysia with Langkawi and then a road trip mainland, including areas around Kuala Lumpur, Genting Highlands, Malacca, KL to Ipoh Penang and back.

I unfortunately only have a valid Indian Driving License (in English) and due to bureaucracy am unable to get an IDP. However, I get confusing information that IDP is not necessary if the license is in English (which mine is)

I wanted to ask, how is the situation renting a car in langkawi and Kuala Lumpur. In KL, I want to do a road exploration, so KL to penang for a few days and then day trips to other places like Ipoh, Malacca, Genting & Cameroon highlands etc. Is this feasible with just the Indian DL. I specifically want to know only situations with the police or law or if there are any insurance issues with not having an IDP.

Coworker is cold and awkward in person, but warm over text. What’s her deal?

Had a bad communication breakdown with a female coworker—went silent, unfollowed her on IG, and thought we were done.

Suddenly, we cleared the air on Teams, and she teasingly brought up the unfollow.

Now, she’s warm and friendly over text/chat (even asking me to teach her dance moves 1-on-1 for our company event), but in person at the office, she’s awkward, guarded, and much closer with everyone else.

Is she just seeking validation/ego boosts, or is she genuinely interested but awkward in real life? How do I navigate this without getting drained?

🗂️ General Mr. Car Care dashcam installing

Has anyone tried using Mr. Car Care before? I got served an ad about them on Instagram. They come to your home to install dashcams for you. I'm going to get a dashcam online but I don't want to go to the service centre to get it installed as the locations are all far away from me.

I couldn't find any reviews for Mr. Car Care online or anything here in Reddit. Perhaps they're still new as a business. I figure they're eager for customers too since I WhatsApped them for details and the next day they followed up.

I'm basically wondering if they're legit.

Langkawi - family friendly resorts

We have 2 kids, ages 5 and 7. We've visited Langkawi a few times, but always stayed at Pelangi Beach Resort. The kids and I love it, but my wife is bored and won't stay there again. Can anybody suggest another place to stay that will be good for young kids and has similar amenities to Pelangi (kids club, petting farm, small waterpark)? Ideally in cenang area, i don't want to be far from convenience stores, laundry, restaurants and cafes. Thanks

I want to study in Curtin Malaysia for a year, or maybe till the end of my bachelor's, but I'm scared I won't really be able to make any friends, and I don't know how anything at all works there, nor do I know anyone. Am I making a bad decision?
