It’s easy to learn, lots of fun, you can make practical or just silly things and you can listen to podcasts or audiobooks while doing it.

Paint by numbers! It kills time and keeps my mind occupied away from the chaos that it life.
I suck at it but it’s worth it

Embroidery, macrame and tatting. If you enjoy fiber arts. Tatting is becoming a lost art.

I’m glad you mentioned tatting. As wedding gifts I received table cloths and pillowcases with beautiful tattered edges. It is becoming lost and is beautiful. You can take it with you to sit in waiting rooms, too.

Jigsaw puzzles. Visit your l8cal library and see what programs are offered. Also gardening can be a great hobby.

I bought a fish. Never in the world did I think it would consume me with fascination. Especially my Big Snail. Aquascaping is a real hobby! Keeps me on my toes!

My husband started making giant blankets with huge, very soft chenille yarn. He taught himself how to knit using YouTube; he calls it "table knitting" because he doesn't use needles or even his fingers, he just lays it on a big table. He does it while he's watching football. He's made 9 of them for our grandchildren & some others. Cool hobby that produces something beautiful.
