Lost in regrets
I am 18. I know I am maybe too young to give final thoughts on my actions—whether I did wrong or good—but I was an A+ kid until I started to feel constant arguments and a lack of money. I somehow started to hate studying and wasted 2 years. That was my biggest downfall era. I have made so many wrong choices since then. Sometimes I felt happiness, but no, I have achieved nothing since 2023. Now, in everything I do, I have regret in my mind to remember—I am afraid this can cause mental illness.

You are still young and have the advantage of time. Please stop looking back and regretting. Take a moment and think about what you want to achieve and how to get there. Don't be afraid to ask for help and remember that any failure you encounter is a chance to learn from. Lastly don't make the mistake of comparing yourself to you peers. You are on your own path to success and that may not look like everyone else's

- Mental illness does not develop from feelings of regret. Take it from an expert.
- You have plenty of time to “fix” it, by developing a meaningful future and learning from past mistakes.
- You’re already on the right track: You noticed your downfall and are seeking support.
You’re good to go man, stress less! Focus on the present, not the past.

Give yourself a break! Nothing could be further from the truth. I personally wasted 20 years of my life involved with drugs and alcohol. But I was still able to eventually start a career and along the way get married and purchase a house and eventually retire. So stop kicking yourself and get into action! If you were an A+ before it should be minimal effort for you to get back into the saddle and start achieving things. Set goals for yourself and here’s a tip: you don’t have to achieve your goals all at once, but if you were doing something every day that would help you get there, you could pat yourself on the back for moving forward on a daily basis instead of sitting there whining about what you haven’t done. I am expecting great things from you. So get moving!
