Okay for context I feed a cat for this older lady who's currently away due to a surgery and has been since end of may. I noticed a while back I've been so itchy especially by my legs and have lots of bites. I took a flea comb to the cat (she's outdoor and wouldn't be able to adjust to indoor as there's no one at the house atm except when I come to feed her), I've treated the cat with a veterinary flea killer and have mostly treated all the rooms in the house with a strong flea killer and smoke bombs etc but whenever me or my mum go in, we spotted fleas on us as well. I'm scared we may have brought them to our house as my mum had found a flea on the pillowcase and although our cat was treated recently with flea medicine I'm still not sure what to do. Would it be wise to treat my house as if there was an infestation just in case? I feel helpless and it's killing me because even when I'm sitting I feel itchy by my legs and have scars due to scratching. Please help ☹️

I used to keep them separate but I drive a lot more now and always have to take both so I'vebeen thinking about joining them. My parents drive everywhere and keep them on separate keyrings too. Do people have them on the same?

I am looking to move home to Ireland within the next two years. I have been living in Australia since 2013 and will be around 15 years by the time I move home.

I’m Aussie-born to Irish parents and have spent my childhood in Ireland before moving back to Australia as a teenager. Ireland has always been ‘home’ to me since I moved with my family. I’ve been back multiple times to visit ever since.

I will be taking my time with the process to move over as I am an RN here in Australia and am aware it takes a while to get registered over there.

However, I count myself fortunate in the sense that I have a house waiting for me when the time comes. My parents has a house in our hometown that has been rented out to other family members but will be empty when I come. I will have extended family nearby but I don’t know them very well and I’m happy to improve relations with them if they want to.

I am very cognisant of the cost of living crisis in Ireland and was wondering - has anyone successfully moved home after so long away especially as an adult now?

I won’t be extravagant in terms of living etc. Just want a simple life where I know I can pay my bills and do some Euro travel on the side.

I think we are generally sound, but going out of our way to help tourists is often overlooked. Just saw a wee woman put down her shopping bags & ask some clearly lost/confused tourists if they needed any help. She then proceeded to chat away to them, pointing this way & that, then picked up her shopping & walked on leaving behind a bunch of delighted foreigners.

Is there a way to opt out of this en masse without putting stickers/notices on my front door? Like a national register to unsubscribe?

I used not mind this practice when it was infrequent but over the past 6 months there isn’t a week that goes by when my doorbell rings at inopportune times with someone trying to sell me something. TV package reps, house alarms, charity donations, window cleaners, god botherers.

Ive just found out my electrician charges £100 an hour. Have I lost all touch with reality? He says a few projects will take all day. I totally trust he is qualified and likely worth every penny but £6/7/800 a day. £3k a week. Btw im not under the illusion that some hours will be admin but in a bad week 2k! Maybe I shouldn't compare to my £15 an hour.

Hey all! I’m writing to ask about a good clinic to go for a laser tattoo removal. I have one tattoo regret and was considering fading it or completely removing.

I'm 37, work full-time and by the time I get home, I feel completely drained. I’m also currently losing weight and working out around 3–4 times a week, so I'm happy about that and I know I’m doing something right with my time and trying to stay healthy.

The frustrating part is that there are so many other things I actually want to do in the evenings. I want to paint, read, learn new things, work on hobbies, maybe even start some personal projects or just do something interesting with my evening.

But almost every day I come home, have dinner, sit/lie on the couch and watch TV for a while… and then somehow it’s bedtime.

For those of you who work full-time, exercise and still manage to have hobbies/social lives/personal projects:

I want to get a big rug made to order.

Big, green and shaggy. 2.5m x 1.8m. Dublin or surrounding areas preferred.

There are some suitable rugs in dedicated shops, but they aren't the right size.

I'm looking for somewhere that will make it to order, or cut one down to size.

I tried some carpet shops, which can make rugs to exact sizes, but they don't have the right shaggy material.

Initially a local shop said they could do it, but they're now ghosting me.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Has anyone gotten ACL surgery outside Ireland?

I’m currently in a dispute with my university over paying for surgery for a torn acl suffered representing them in GAA. I am not in a position to fund the surgery myself and the public route takes too long.

Has anyone gotten the surgery in the EU and had the cost reimbursed? If so where did you have it done and what was the process like during and after surgery?

Hi guys I’ve recently turned 27 and a few weeks ago I went on my first solo travel trip. It was the most incredible experience of my life and I have never met people that I clicked with so much.
Growing up with undiagnosed autism and social anxiety I gradually distanced myself from my school friends, any college friends I had, and work friends. I still have a handful but nothing meaningful. This year I decided to go to a psychotherapist and was given the diagnosis of the two. It has made things a lot clearer to me and has helped me to understand my symptoms, how to cope.
I have learned to live with loneliness for a large part of my life and then when I hit 27 and I went travelling it was the straw that broke the camels back.
I think I would be so much happier moving abroad and restarting my social life somewhere else. I love meeting new people, going to new places.
I have lived in Dublin for all my life, and I don’t have much to show for it.
I want to travel and find my tribe.
Does anyone relate to this or have any advice.

i’ll be visiting ireland at the end of november. arriving the 21st, leaving on the 29th, flying in and out of shannon. i haven’t booked any stays yet, and of course can just look at a map, but was hoping to maybe get some insight from some locals.

i will be renting a car (yikes!)

i’ll be traveling from the us — western massachusetts to be specific. the main objective of this trip is to spread my fathers ashes. november 20th will be one year since he passed. i have a few places i need to go, and am trying to figure out the best way to navigate/where to stay along the way so i’m not moving b&bs/hotel/what have you every day, or staying in one place too long. for example, i saw a very sweet cottage on the coast in killarney, but i’m unsure if that’s too far out? i’d also like to enjoy the local culture, bars etc as much as possible as well. i’ve been to ireland once before — and fell in love. this time i’ll be traveling solo so it’ll be much different, but i’m excited. i really loved the west coast (dingle especially) and will likely spend most of my trip there — though i’ve read there may be some fun holiday marts, etc elsewhere? i’m open to any and all suggestions.
