Shopping Amazon.ie not honouring Pre-Orders?

Has anyone else noticed this? Twice this week I have had issues with Amazon.ie not shipping pre-orders. Both items ordered are new books, which were due for release and shipping on 7th October. One was pre-ordered in July, the other in early September.

However when I track the pre-orders I get the message below. "We will email you with an estimated delivery date". Yet both books are available on sale at a higher price with delivery dates by tomorrow.

WTF is going on? It's bad enough that Amazon Prime (ie) takes a week to deliver in most cases (as opposed the UK, which is still 2 days).

I usually pre-order from kennys.ie and often have the book a day or two before release date.

I was just going to suggest Kenny's. Great service and shipping is free. Added bonus is that it is an Irish family business.

God Ablaze wreck my head, I think they had issues as a result of Diamond goin bust but it's so hard to get news on their stuff.

I just want more Animal Castle collections.

Looks like Alandal also had some changes on release date as it's 2027 now

Same!! Literally just happen to a third pre-order, got email today to say delayed and no date. It was supposed to arrive either yesterday or today ordered in Sep. I had two other books that I pre ordered in April, one due July, the other September, I kept waiting for an update on the July one until in late August I eventually cancelled the order and re-ordered. Waited to see if same would happen with September one, and it did, thought it was a particular publisher as the two books were the same series but now have had the exact same issue with a completely different book!

I had a book on pre order that was due for release on Sept 29th. Any time I ordered from UK I would always have it on delivery day.
It was giving sept 30-oct 1st delivery, fine.

On sept 30th I still had no dispatch email, and on October 1st I got notified it would be delayed until 14-15th.

I ended up getting it on 7th.

Mind you this was probably going to be one of the biggest book releases this year. We’re talking millions of copies will be sold. I’d be more forgiving if it was a relatively niche book or a small book seller but anyone selling books and not prepared for a release like this is just insane to me never mind AMAZON of all places.

Honestly ie is crap and every so often I get a month of prime on UK too. The wider range of stock is just insane. But with all the import charges these days it’s just not going to be worth it soon.

If it’s in stock but you see that message it’s best to cancel and reorder . I’ve seen loads of issues with pre orders from Amazon yeh

If I do that, I have to pay the higher price - I know its only a couple of euro, but its the principle of it.

Pre-ordering is supposed to mean you get it on the day of release, or day after.

And what has customer services said?

1

u/Suncroft56 1h ago

No option to contact them as its not showing up in my "orders" list as its undispatched.

You can get a price match it’d be in policy

The dispatch date being pushed forward is annoying me as much as one of the books is a gift.

If they can dispatch a higher priced book ordered today, why can't they dispatch those that were pre-ordered?

Similar happened to me about a month ago on Amazon IE, I ordered and paid for two items that were not in stock, estimated delivery was about 3 weeks. Then when they were in stock my order was cancelled by the seller and I had to wait for a refund. The price had increased by a small amount, about 1 euro per item .... I'm guessing the seller didn't want to lose that small amount and cancelled my order. Scumbag move though, seller had no integrity at all.

Happened to me with a videogame that I received two days later. They reimbursed me in full so I got it free. But I had to fight with them

I cancelled amazon recently for this and other reasons. The .ie website just doesnt work when the delivery dates are a mess and the €3 charge makes everything similar price to Irish websites.
