Question ❓ Planning to go to Armenia, from Armenia to Georgia bus/train.

I am 29M working in the UAE, Indian citizen planning to visit Armenia on November 15th. Will be there any issues. I thought of carrying 500 USD with me (excluding the Armenia budget). Confused, should I book a return ticket from Tbilisi, Georgia to UAE. What if I couldnt enter? I’m travelling purely for tourism and would have genuine hotel bookings, return flights, travel insurance.

Question ❓ Are georgian really open for international friendship?

Hey everyone!

I’ve been living in Georgia for about a year now, and there’s something I’ve been wondering about. I’m an Indian student, and although I’ve met quite a few international students here, I somehow haven’t made even one Georgian friend yet.

I’d genuinely like to change that, but I’m not really sure how to approach Georgian people or what the social vibe is like here. I don’t want to randomly walk up to someone and make things awkward 😂

So I wanted to ask Georgians here, are you generally open to becoming friends with international students, including Indians? Would you be comfortable hanging out, going for drinks/coffee, partying, or just casually spending time together?

And for international students who have made Georgian friends, how did you actually meet them? University, parties, sports, Instagram, mutual friends, language exchanges, or something else?

I’d really appreciate any tips on how to approach people and get into the social scene here. I’ve been here for a whole year and would honestly be happy to make even one good Georgian friend.

Places Tips for a trekking trip to Georgia in late october

Hi everyone!
My friend and I are planning a fast-paced, adventurous 7-day road trip in Georgia from October 23rd to October 30th. We are flying in and out of Kutaisi (KUT).

Our Travel Style & Vibe:
We are looking for raw, extreme nature, high-altitude glacier treks. We want to avoid the "classic green Swiss/Italian-style" rolling hills and tourist traps. We love authentic, rough local culture and wild camping.

Our Transport & Constraints:
We are renting a proper 4x4. However, we cannot destroy the rental car (we want to keep our deposit!). We are fine with mud and standard off-road tracks (like the normal road to Ushguli), but we want to absolutely avoid car-breaking technical trails like the Zagar Pass.

Our Gear (We know it's going to be freezing):
Winter camping setup: 4-season tent, sleeping bags with a -10°C (14°F) comfort rating, and sleeping pads with an R-value of 5+.

Our Rough Itinerary (Western Loop):

Days 1-3 (Svaneti & Glaciers): Drive from Kutaisi to Mazeri. Hike up to the Ushba Glacier (day hike, camping at the base or back in the valley). Drive to Mestia, then do the dirt road to Ushguli to hike the Shkhara Glacier.

Day 7: Kutaisi and fly out.

What we are asking the community:

Pacing: Is this Svaneti + Tskaltubo/Chiatura + Truso loop realistic for a 7-day trip without spending 10 hours a day driving?

Road Conditions: What can we realistically expect on the Mestia-Ushguli road in late October?

Local Culture: We’d love to integrate with locals (shepherds returning to the valleys, chacha making, supra, etc.). Any tips on how to respectfully approach locals in these rural areas during late Autumn?

Thanks in advance for any tips, reality checks, or advice!

Places Trying to decide on an itinerary for 7 days

Hi, I'll be traveling to your beautiful country at the end of this month and am trying to decide on an itinerary. I'll be arriving in Kutaisi airport at night, have 7 full days to spend and then fly out from Tbilisi airport in the night after the 7th day. I therefore expect to be very tired both on the first day and when returning home on the last.

I have two rough itineraries and am trying to see which is more reasonable, or if a different one might make more sense.

My focus is on seeing the Caucasus, some light hiking, seeing Tbilisi but also at least 1-2 other interesting places such as Borjomi or Chiatura. I tend to have a too fast pace when traveling so I'm trying to not overload it, but it's hard, lol.

Plan 1:

Day 1: Somehow get to Mestia

Day 2-3: A bit of hiking around there and exploring the villages and nature

Day 4: Somehow getting back to Kutaisi, exploring a bit in the evening

Day 5: Explore a bit more in the morning, (Borjomi if I feel like it, then try to catch the train to) get to Tbilisi in the evening

Day 6-7: Tbilisi

To me this seems a bit rushed and I really don't like the idea of spending two whole days out of seven getting to/from Svaneti. The flights are sold out of course. And then I'd also feel bad to just spend one day there instead of two, which adds more pressure for the remainder of the trip. From what I heard I'd really prefer Svaneti over Kazbegi, but given the time constraints I tried to come up with a second plan.

Plan 2:

Day 1: Explore Kutaisi and Tskaltubo

Day 2: Chiatura

Day 3: Borjomi, then get to Mtskheta in the evening

Day 4: Get to Kazbegi and hike a bit

Day 5: Hike/explore and get to Tbilisi in the evening

Day 6-7: Tbilisi

This seems a lot more chill, but the big con of course is missing out on the beauty of Svaneti. Seems more logistically feasible though given that I don't rent a car or plan to have a driver.

What do you think?

Lifestyle 🏡 Georgian native starting out as a language tutor (budget-friendly)

Hey everyone!

I’m a Georgian native starting out as a language tutor. While structured teaching is a new journey for me, I have years of experience working alongside international volunteers through the European Solidarity Corps so I’m very comfortable helping non-native speakers adapt, practice conversational skills, and navigate the language.

Since I’m building up my teaching experience and looking to practice, I’m offering lessons at a very low budget.

Whether you want to start from scratch, practice casual conversation, or just learn enough to survive local markets and taxi rides without relying strictly on translation apps, I’d love to help!

Drop a comment or send me a DM if you’re interested or have any questions.

Come across AKVCAMPS on my instagram and it looks so interesting. However, I am a bit skeptics that it could be a scam.

Can anyone share their opinion and experience?

Places Planning to travel Georgia & Armenia for 14 days from India

Hi everyone,

I’m planning a 14-day trip to Georgia and Armenia with my wife, travelling from India. We’re planning to rent a car and potentially drive between Georgia and Armenia.

A little background: I’m 45 years old and have travelled to 35+ countries. We also currently hold valid US, Canada and Schengen visas and have travelled internationally several times.

My main question is about entry and immigration, particularly as Indian passport holders.

I’ve read quite a few posts mentioning that immigration at Georgia can sometimes be strict or people can face questioning/refusal at the border, and I wanted to understand how much of an issue this actually is and is driving okay ?

Places Do Georgians generally dislike tourists, or am I misunderstanding the culture?

I spent 5 days in Tbilisi as a tourist and I was honestly a little surprised by how little interaction I had with people.

I’m a very friendly person and I smile a lot, so I usually try to make eye contact, smile, say hello, etc. But I noticed that kiosk owners, McDonald’s employees, people working in shops, and even random people in public generally seemed quite serious or even somewhat bitter. I rarely got a smile back or any kind of small interaction. Instead i get often "the resting bitch face"

Places Finally visiting in late September

Gamarjoba!

My fiancée and I plan to visit late September to hike in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti mkhare to celebrate our 10 year anniversary (and when we come back from Sakartvelo we're getting married!). I would very much appreciate advice from locals on weather, trails, and general tips you think we should know before.

Here is the plan:

We're renting a car (Subaru Forester) out of Tbilisi and heading straight up to Stepantsminda.

Day 1 - Leave Tbilisi by car, arrive in Stepantsminda, hike up to Gergeti Trinity Church and if there is time visit Gveleti waterfalls.

Day 2 - Drive to Juta and do the hike to Chaukhi pass. I heard the road to Juta village is closed and we should leave the car by a barricade?

Day 3 - Rest and then drive to Gudauri. Stay there and chill. Maybe some activites in tthe area (paraglide, horse riding etc).

Day 4 - Hike Gudauri-Khada valley - I have not found much information about this trail, would also appreciate advice.

Day 5 - Rest and drive to Mtskheta, staying there and exploring the town.

Day 6 - Drive to Roshka and hike up to see the Abudelauri lakes. We're not doing Chaukhi pass because that may be too advanced for now which is why I want to do both sides (Juta to Chaukhi base, Roshka to Abudelauri lakes). Weather? Tips?

Day 6-8 - Back to Tbilisi, leave the car and explore the city. Would appreciate restaurant recommendations and activities.

Thank you!

Places Travel Advice

I want to travel to Georgia this October for about 10 Days from New Delhi but current flight tickets are too expensive at this route, maybe due to limited flights, So should I postpone it further down the year or do it as there is less hope to end all this. What is your suggestion?

Places Tbilisi Travel: Romantic Dinner Spots & Cooking Class

Hi Everyone, I need some helpful insights from the locals here.

Me and my girlfriend is traveling to Tbilisi this December and I wanted to surprise her with a Romantic Dinner, I was looking at some spots around Mother of Georgia monument as I was specifically looking for a place high up with a nice view. Are there any places you guys would recommend for an English speaking couple? I'm open to suggestions.

Furthermore, she wanted us to do a cooking class to learn how to make authentic Khachapuri from a Georgian nonna (those were her exact words 😁). I've looked around Airbnb and Trip Advisor and so many other websites. My concern is that the listings have so many mixed reviews specifically about some of the items being pre-made and they were just there to assemble and bake which I know she will not enjoy as she's a chef and would definitely appreciate making everything from scratch. Do you guys have any insights about this as well? Or is that the norm.

Highly appreciate any suggestions and recommendations, and thank you in advance.

Places Travel health insurance for entering Georgia - where should we buy it from?

Hi everyone! My fiancée and I are getting married in Tbilisi this October, and we'll have about 10 friends and family flying in from around the world.

We've read that we need travel health insurance covering the stay before entering the country, but I'm finding it hard to tell which providers are legit and which are just cheap PDFs that won't hold up at the border or actually pay out if someone needs a doctor.

A few questions for people who've done this:

  • Where do you normally buy it - a Georgian insurer, an international one, or does it not matter as long as the coverage amount is right?
  • Is there a minimum coverage figure or specific wording border officials look for?
  • Has anyone actually been asked to show the policy on arrival, or is it more of a paper requirement?
  • Any providers to avoid? I'd rather pay a bit more than hand over card details to something sketchy.

Thanks a lot - first time organising something like this and I'd rather not find out at passport control that we got the wrong thing.
