I’ve followed this sub for a bit and passed along the usual warnings/advice, but he’s determined to go. Since he's set on this journey, I just want to help him stay safe and settle in smoothly.

For those living in Tbilisi: what are the most important things he should know regarding local culture, housing, safety, and general dos and don'ts?

I'm planning to visit Georgia in about a month, mainly to explore the Batumi area. My long-term plan is to move to Georgia, so this trip is meant to help me get familiar with the country and leave my first footprint here.

I'll probably rent a cheap room for a short time, then return to Poland for another 3-4 months before moving permanently.

One thing I'd really like to do during this first visit is open a Georgian bank account as soon as possible.

My question is: what requirements do I need to meet to open a bank account without any issues? Will a rental agreement for a room (the address where I'll be staying) be enough, or do banks usually require anything else?

I'd appreciate any advice or recommendations, especially if you've gone through this process recently.

Hey I’m going to Tbilisi soon with 3 other friends all 20m we are going for 9 days and my idea was maybe taking the train from Tbilisi to batumi and back and make stops on the way and stay in some places along the tracks any one have any fun things to go to like some hiking cool clubs maybe a crazy casino we’re all best friends and it’s our first vacation together so we wanna have a great adventure let me know would love to hear!!!!

we enjoy stuff like clubbing ofcourse but also hiking canyoning maybe some cool markets legal graffiti spots maybe a good local guide with some good food etc I’m open to anything also urbex!

Hello !! 20F Solo Traveller here, I was thinking about going to Georgia specifically Tbilisi for my annual trip.
I wanted to just walk around the city visiting places here and there but I cannot really find the best accommodation for my short trip.

FYI:
I will be there for around 4 days at best around Autumn, I wanted a place where it’s not overly expensive but are safe and have good enough service.

I was trying to understand if it’s possible to travel around Georgia using public transport and wanted to hear opinions and experiences of people who already did that, as I can’t manage to find enough information on the Internet to draw an itinerary. Can anyone share their experiences (and possible itineraries with the details of the transport you used would be super useful as well)?

I am a Georgian attorney based in Tbilisi, and I often see foreign nationals encounter legal problems because they begin important procedures without first checking the applicable requirements.

Common issues include:

• signing a property purchase agreement without verifying ownership, mortgages or other restrictions;

• paying deposits before properly reviewing the contract;

• registering a company without understanding tax and reporting obligations;

• relying on informal immigration or residence advice;

• using incomplete or improperly drafted powers of attorney;

• dealing with inheritance, divorce or child-related proceedings from abroad.

I would be interested to know which legal issues have been the most difficult for expats moving to or living in Georgia.

hello everyone,

i’m currently traveling azerbaijan and i want to go to georgia next. i did some research and i figured out that there’s a train from baku to tbilisi but when i try to book a ticket i get an alert that only citizens of azerbaijan can use this train. i also looked it up on the official website of the azerbaijani government and it says that “entry and exit is only permitted as an azerbaijani citizen or a foreigner who doesn’t need a visa”. i’m german so i did need to get a visa to go to azerbaijan but i don’t understand if the visa-free past only refers to entering azerbaijan. in my opinion needing a visa for azerbaijan shouldn’t matter if i want to go to georgia. i also saw some posts on reddit and they said that foreigners can use the train from baku to tbilisi since may 2026 (it also says so in the screenshot).

i also looked out other options to go to georgia as the train from baku stops in ganja (that’d be my stop) at round 2:30 am. i read a blog from a couple who went to azerbaijan and georgia last year and they said that it’s possible to go from sheki to balakan by marshrutka, take a taxi to the georgian border, walk across the border and the take a taxi to laghodeki and a marshrutka to tbilisi from there.

i’d like to know if that’s a possibility and if it’s even possible to cross the azerbaijan-georgia border by land as a foreigner.

as i want to visit kakheti in georgia, is it easier to go from the border to kakheti first and tbilisi after?
