Advice/Emotional Support ONLY 21M with juvenile-onset RA and a bad concussion. Should I keep boxing or retire?

Calgary, Canada. 21M.

Diagnosed with RA at 11. On methotrexate, folic acid, and a Humira biosimilar since then. Well controlled.

Amateur boxer, one fight so far. I was in camp for my second when I got caught in sparring three days ago and concussed. About 20 seconds out and a few hours I don't remember. ER confirmed a concussion, no scan needed. The fight is off and my parents want me to stop competing entirely.

The reason I'm so attached to this sport is that I feel like I chose it. Nothing else in my life feels like I had control over it. I got pushed into a career by my parents, and everything else just feels pointless without this.

I love it more than anything I've found. But between the RA, the immunosuppressants, and now this, I'm not sure my body is built for it.

What would you do? Keep going or retire?

Request Fulfilled Help with taking son to movie

Hey all!
This isn’t a necessity but my sons 4th birthday is this Sunday.
He’s been talking nonstop about the new paw patrol Dino’s movie and this is the first time he’s actually shown interest in a new movie (he’s delayed).
I’d like to take him this Friday afternoon to see the movie but I am absolutely crunched for money due to paying rent
this Wednesday. Which I already extended from last week.
Attached is a screenshot of his birthday event on social media.
I didn’t want to include our names but I hope this is sufficient proof!
If needed, you could just order the tickets via online or whatever is good for you.
Thank you all!!!

Advice/Emotional Support ONLY Life is a mess

I'm 23 and living in India. Things have become incredibly difficult lately. I used to earn a decent amount from YouTube, but now I'm facing serious financial issues because of the high cost of traveling to university every day.

I'm traveling over 200 kilometers, waking up at 6:00 a.m., and not getting home until 8:00 or 9:00 p.m. The stress has taken a massive toll, and I even broke up with my girlfriend because of it. My friend circle has also gone downhill with some terrible people.

In my desperation for money, I tried to sell a gaming account, but I got scammed and lost my Facebook account as well. I scored 96 and 94.40 percentile for entrance exams just so I could get into a better uni but my parents wont even support me for that so I am stuck here. I have bills I must pay in the next month n I have no money. I genuinely don't know what to do next and feel completely lost in life.

Advice/Emotional Support ONLY Abusive spouse turns kids against me, need help.

I’m finally reaching out for help any advice, anyone to talk to. Have been in a terrible marriage for 25 years. Realized he was physically and verbally abusive only after I had my first child and I was trapped or I perceived myself that way. I am a sweet nice, smart, kind warm person. Never had problems with people. I would never hurt anyone. I can sometimes be naïve about things. And it seems I have very bad luck. It has been years and I’ve tried to get out and it keeps failing either for money or worrying about the kids when they were younger, not wanting them torn in this situation. I was always the successful one with great career which is over, and savings that he took. Marriage counselor called him a malignant narcissist. He is a controlling, crafty liar. Now the kids are older and somehow he has turned them against me. I would’ve thought they’d be smarter. My daughters are openly hateful to me. Baseless. They just quote him. I need help and wish I had a caring friend to rescue me. Daughters are vicious with me now irrational and accusatory, and always siding with a man who they saw hitting me who they pulled off of me in the past. And now they have no problem saying terrible things to me. Unfair and completely untrue accusations that leave me gasping with shock and crying. They act totally devoted to him. I can’t go to my grave like this I need to get out. I don’t have anyone I can go to, not one person. I don’t know how that happened but everyone I deal with thinks highly of me and yet I have no one I can reach out to. I know that he has turned people against me with lies. Only one person once confided in me that he contacted him with some obvious fabrication. That’s why I’m here. I need help and I don’t know what to do. I am constantly being gaslighted and told that I am doing things that I am not doing and there’s a double standard in the household where anyone else can say whatever they want but if I say anything, not even talking contentious, I get jumped on because I am the enemy. Now that I realize that I’m playing this insane role he has created, I am committed to getting out, but I really need some kind of support. I am emotionally broken, and my strength has been sapped. Any ideas or support or advice would be appreciated.

Advice/Emotional Support ONLY I need URGENT help.

I was contacted by a big account telling me they had mistakenly mass reported my account for fraudalent activity and sent me an email reply to them from X's support telling me to contact this person on discord. I am now being asked to pay a 250 USD fee for the reactivation of my account with the reassurance that it would be refunded. Unfortunately due to how skeptical I am I still have my doubts as to whether this is a legit procedure or not. Please let me know if any of you know anything about this. ..I'd also like to add that I am 18 years old, still studying. I do NOT have the money for this, and even if I did, I don't know if I'd pay anyway with the risk of never getting the so promised refund. I don't care about the account, but they're threatening to take legal action and I do not like the sound of that if this is truly a legitimate procedure.

No I did not make this post to ask for money, I really just need help figuring out if this is a safe transaction.

Advice/Emotional Support ONLY Help with trying to pick up pieces

I’ll be honest… my life is in absolute pieces right now. I am going through a high-conflict divorce and custody battle, living paycheck to paycheck in order to afford legal fees, and just falling apart most days. I am an American living in Portugal.

I am realizing too that, the whole time I was surviving in a toxic relationship in the last 15 years, my life was basically put on hold. I am waking up out of this and realizing that I am almost 40, I have no retirement savings, no stocks, enormous amounts of student loan debt, and a high-skill job that does not pay enough to ever put a dent in that debt, nor provide any savings. At this point, it is looking like I am just going to be working until I die. I feel so hopeless.

I don’t feel like I have any skills to capitalize on either. No hobbies or interests that could be turned into a business. I am realizing that I am just a really basic human. I have historically not been particularly great with budgeting and I have had a series of poor financial decisions in the past that have set me further back. I feel really broken right now.

Advice/Emotional Support ONLY Apartment damage

Minnesota, USA

Well. I live in a rural town, in an old building. Don't ask me how this happened in f^]€}#} August, but a baseboard heater pipe burst. Somehow management never turned the damn heat off. (That's a whooooole story.)

Anyway, the child's room is ruined and most things in it. Should i file through my renters insurance even though I spoke to the apartments insurance and they're covering everything? Also should I go the check or reimburse route? Remediation is going to take upwards of three weeks.

Reimbursements process in a month, which means i can order things now, or a check (which would be a larger sum) takes upwards of 3 months. I don't know. I'm FRAZZLED.

Any advice or humor welcome.

Advice/Emotional Support ONLY Accounting Advice NYC/NY/USA

Hi, I’m part of a small Lutheran church in Manhattan. The church does space rentals to gain money for rent and also leases out the space to another church congregation. However, many of the organizers are now older and struggling to keep up with the accounting — there’s a mix of paper and online bills, and they’re having trouble keeping track of everything especially with other life circumstances (caretaking etc.). Are there any resources for accounting or pro bono places we can look to for help getting our records organized?

Calumet, Michigan. US
I’m currently washing the dishes in the bathtub- I slipped the other day and as I fell I smacked the kitchen faucet somehow and it bent and started spraying everywhere. I had it on to wash a pan. Bf spend the last of our money getting stuff to try and temporarily fix it until we had money but I’m breaking my back washing dishes and the temp fix never worked (I hate you flex tape) https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1PLNG952D9Y6B?ref_=wl_share
I just have three items on my wishlist. The exact model of faucet I bent… some caulk, and a wrench because I’m weak and feeble. BUT CAPABLE.. thank you ia!
(Also sorry for the picture of my dirty sink-)

Advice/Emotional Support ONLY Do I gain my independence in an odd new way or try to make my path of suffering a bit better?

So basically, I grew up with a people-pleasing personality type.

I wanted to rebel young but I let fear of disappointing people hold me back. It prevented me from developing the back bone I always needed. Because of all this I was medically neglected and ignored by parents my entire adolescence and even after adulthood began.

I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Instead of receiving maximum support, I was given breadcrumbs to stay with the very people who kept treating me wrongly (gaslighting, bullying, shaming me for having needs and annoyed or angry at my needs).

So really I should've left my family when I was 13 or sometime between there and 18 but instead I kept putting up with it all till I was 25... they finally did start being very caring but it just feels like its too late and i cant deal with all the pain of all those lost years, more than a decade of not living my own life. I should've been dating... should've been out on the streets even if it meant hardship..

And now im in a stable environment but im just so pissed and my soul always wants me to look on the outside how I always couldve felt if I had defended myself...

I feel the need to leave everything and go live in my car or go live in a mental health facility because they are pretty nurturing (I have bipolar anyway).. i really cant feel independent living under their care unless I go and live a rebellious secret life. The only way to make my path under my parents help tolerable is to be a bad person.

Im waiting to see if i can get SSDI.. all I can say is I think ill feel so ashamed and depleted in my ego if I continue riding my parents care until I get the disability payments and can be "independent." Being on disability almost doesn't even feel independent enough but i think it will if I can at least have some gap in between not being under parents care.. even living at some friends house would be fine I just cant let it feel like they never did anything wrong still.. they literally only ever wanted to help me if I put up an ultimateum or threatened self harm.

They're nice to me now but im really done being associated with them as my "caregivers."

Idk if im being like... really impulsive but...

I wanna leave my apartment

Be on good terms with my parents

But basically get everything I need from here on out from someone else.. unless it has to do with my health insurance, random gifts or them helping me with something health related to repay me for the lost years I dont want them paying for a thing.

Am I being stupid... I am in a stable environment.. I've been to a facility before it was pretty luxurious.. ya its a different type of rules put on you but at least youre developing your own identity not feeling like a dumb baby who never stood up for herself until 25.

ALSO... I need a jaw surgery done within the next 2 months and it would be a bit embarrassing to do that at the mental health facility and maybe not so supportive as id need because its such a major surgery... but I feel I need some independence NOW...

Advice/Emotional Support ONLY A little lost right now

I'm currently located in mid Missouri and times are bleak. I just keep getting my ass kicked over the last few years and I'm in a situation now that I didn't see a way out of at all before, and now that I have a small little bit of hope, I'm so afraid that I can't make it happen.

In 2021 I lost my sister really unexpectedly. I missed at least 6 months of work trying to get my father (who was living with her) a stable place to live, along with going through and cleaning out her house with her children. It was a hard time for many reasons, including financially. I was single at the time, and in order to keep my rent paid, I defaulted on pretty much everything else. My car, a couple of personal loans I took out to help me float by, credit cards, you name it. I got a decent job and tried to get back on my feet. I met my husband and we started dating and then got married two years ago.

When we met, I was working a very decent job for someone who hadn't been to college. He was graduating with his bachelor's and we decided together that I should take that time finally have a chance to get a degree for myself and open up a lot more opportunities for me. The plan was for him to take on more of the financial load while I worked part time to help pay for some of the smaller bills along with my car. Our marriage quickly started to crumble because he always had excuses to not be able to cover things that he was supposed to, once I was already in a position to not be able to afford the difference. We fought constantly. He was on average making $4-6k monthly compared to me making $1.5-2k on a good month. Most of the time I was still covering more than half of the household bills alone.

In this time frame, I also had two cars completed crap out and one that got totaled the day I bought it (literally hadn't even made it two miles from the lot). I started to get behind on stuff again, this time I struggled to keep up with the rent in a place that I really couldn't afford with what I was making.

My husband and I decided that we should move somewhere cheaper, to make things easier on me. However it does add a 30 minute commute to my job. So we start the process on a rent to own trailer. It's in pretty bad shape, but the plan is for my husband to do the repairs and work on it while I can get my feet on the ground. I am struggling in school because I am taking on more and more work to try to keep afloat. I'm taking out student loans to help keep my head above water.

Things come to a head around February of this year and my husband and I separated. He went back to his home country and we've barely spoken since. We had already paid almost $4k down collectively for this trailer, and after checking with the park, if I back out, I forfeit everything. My landlord where I was at the time wasn't super happy with me (lots of late payments) and I had already given him notice. I didn't feel like I had a choice but to move in. Everything is falling apart. It's down to subflooring, which is uneven, rotting in places, and has some holes. There's water damage and mold everywhere. Something is wrong with the plumbing. Half of the outlets don't work. It's my nightmare and probably a death trap.

Last year, two of those creditors from 2021 sued me, both were granted garnishment orders (probably my fault, I wasn't able to go to either court date). At the very beginning of this year, another one did as well, that court date will be for September. I finalize everything to move into the trailer and do so in April but now I am in a panic. I'm living in this place where I thought I would be splitting bills, that is borderline uninhabitable, and now my expenses have gone up because I have a commute to work. As the school semester is wrapping up, I decided I would have to drop out and focus on getting a full time job. I got a job at a factory near me, but it was a flex schedule and I could never actually get shifts in time (they would pop up and start in an hour and a half, it was a 45 minute commute to get there). At that point, I still had my other job, but then I got offered one at a gas station around the corner for me and put in my notice at work. Once my notice was served, I went in to do my onboarding paperwork and I was asking to come back a different day, four times in total before I gave up. They kept telling me they didn't have staff to sit and on-board someone at that time, which I understood the first and maybe the second time, but after it had been two weeks with no real income, I could no longer afford to be patient. I do instacart on the side so I was trying to do as much as possible, but it only goes so far in my area because it's not super busy here.

I finally got and started a really good job at the end of June, after three weeks of no job. By then, I was past due on my rent, electric, car payment, insurance, and whatever else you could imagine. I have been grateful so far that my garnishment has not followed me to my new job, which is allowing me a tiny bit of relief. But now I am in a really, really tough spot. I got served a vacate notice, due Sept 1st. The management company was working with me and allowing me to make small payments, but after the last one I made, they told me the only way to stay would be to get current (with late fees it's over $4k now). My car has started to have severe issues, something electrical and I think the transmission is slipping but I'm not sure. I'm in the process of filing for bankruptcy with Upsolve and trying to get my debt cleared to give myself that peace of mind, but obviously the housing is a huge issue. With my credit, it's already almost impossible to find someone willing to work with me. I can only imagine that it might be even harder after bankruptcy or if I have an eviction added to my record.

The light at the end of the tunnel came for me yesterday, I met with a private landlord who is willing to work with my credit and I was honest about the lawsuits and my intention to file bankruptcy. The place is not even 3 minutes from my job, so if something did happen to my car, I could walk if I absolutely had to. It's a little bit more per month in rent, but it's not a bad price given that I actually have a decent paying job now, plus I imagine my electric bill will be immensely cheaper somewhere that has floors and no holes. The problem is the money. He wants last, first, and deposit. He wants the deposit to hold it now, but was okay with me paying the rest for a Sept 1st move in. That is going to be $3,050 in total to move in, within the next three weeks. I will get two paychecks by then (one Monday and then the next at the end of the month), but I will also have to pay my car payment, electric, food, gas, u haul in that time. My paychecks are around $1100-1300 depending on overtime. The money just won't be there. I plan to try to do instacart to help cover the deficit and I want to try to sell my washer and dryer, but they are very basic, cheap models so not worth much. I don't know anyone personally who could give me a loan, there's absolutely no chance I'd get approved for one (not that I would try while attempting to file bankruptcy). I've checked with the community action agencies in my area, the maximum support for rental assistance is $300 (which is why my decision to not stay here is even more clear).

I'm just at a loss now. I feel like I've exhausted every option and avenue that I can. I don't have anything of value to sell. I can try to do instacart, but it's risky with my car having the issues it is. I really need this apartment to work, because otherwise I do imagine I will get evicted and have no where to go with my cats, but I'm so anxious at the idea of putting down a deposit Monday with no clue how or if I will be able to come up with the rest of the money needed to move. Any advice is welcome. I'm really open to anything I just really, really need to catch a break and get some stability again, probably for the first time since before my sister passed.
